Being a cat fan...hats off to ruby....this is my 2nd time watching this video...this house is amazing!!!! Such a shame to see it rot away...i can't imagine all the hard work went into building this!!!!..thanks kappy for a grand video..really enjoyed watching it!!!!!!!!
Oh my word!!! Absolutely stunning!! The archways and the transem!!! So beautifully built!! Oh I wish people would put the time and money into these homes and restore their history. That’s why we appreciate you so much Kappy! You put so much hard work and dedication into capturing these homes so they won’t disappear forever. As always, stay safe!! 😊
Couldn’t agree more! Only wish could’ve seen this house before it underwent some of the remodels! Still had a lot of beautiful old details tho! Thank you for the kind words and much appreciated always for watching Melissa!! :)
Hey Kappy and Ruby! What a massive place! Would love to see the original layout before it got chopped up. Still many awesome features. Be careful on those sketchy floors. Thanks for the look at this amazing place. Stay safe! ✌️
That must have been a beautiful home! I have heard that homes on the coast that would have those towers, they were called widows peaks. After the wife’s husband went to sea, she would go there and watch for his return! Thanks Ruby and Kappy!
Poor house, water in the basement is a death knell. The grey stuff on the upstairs floor where the ceiling collapsed is old insulation. Great video, hi Ruby!
I have a feeling this Doctor was an OBGYN. Back in the day people had to pay out of pocket. I get a feeling he did everything there. Explains all the rooms and bathrooms. It must have been a beautiful family home before it was redone. Stay safe.
Oh Wow! What a beauty 🫶before the remodeling. The outside looks humongous 😮. It would be so cool to hang out in the widow’s peak during a thunderstorm.
Some may not like it, but I love it when old houses are used for doctors’ offices. My old doctor’s was one. Just enough changed to be functional. The waiting room was in the front parlor with a fireplace. The kitchen was actually their lab. The bathroom was 1940s still with the tub. Old creaky hardwood floors. It was awesome. He passed but the building is still being used. Prob from 1880s or 90s. Check your DM. ❤
My doctors office was the same way. I always loved it. The original den was the waiting room. There were large pillars and built ins between the living room and the den. I still remember the stairs creaking as they went up and down from the offices upstairs.
What a great old house. I always loved houses with cupolas ever since I read a story about one as a child, although technically that is not a cupola as they are round in form. I wouldn't want the heating bill but with that much space and glamour the mansions surely could have been transformed into some really cool apartments. Great video!!
This was the most amazing house! You did an awesome job finding the beautiful architectural details amid the wierd reno mess. Thx for finding the best wallpaper samples!! Great to have Ruby along we Kappy fans have missed her! Great explore Kappy!!
Wow. What a beauty! I’d love to know the history. I can just imagine back in the day when it probably was the grandest home in the county. Wouldn’t it be something if somebody sent photos to you of this mansion in her original state. My imagination goes wild. How wonderful it wasn’t tagged & destroyed either. Those fireplaces😮. Just stunning
Thx Kappy great explore. She was certainly a grand lady in her day. Shameful whats been done with updates & add ons. Its like a giant maze. Good to see Ruby again, y'all make a good team. Much luv to u both Carry on Stay safe
That’s a wonderful old house. I’ve seen far worse get restored but it’s going to take someone with the mindset that they’re restoring it because it’s worthy and not as an investment. I hope that happens for this house. Thanks again for another fun house tour !!
Thank you for filming this beauty before its gone for good. You can almost see what the house may have looked like. The rooms with the small sinks looked like exam rooms. The fireplaces on the second floor I believe are art deco. The very top floor is called a widows walk. The wives would look out to sea waiting for their mariner to return. A lot of times they never made it back, hence the name widows walk. What a gem this was.
That was some scarey infrastructure in that basement (and elsewhere). Says it all why that once beautiful old house was abandoned. The cost of retrofitting a house that large, plus the maintenance, would be staggering. Shame though, before it was butchered, then neglected, it must've been a grand place. Thanks for the tour. Nicely done.
I can tell you from experience that it will take a VERY LARGE pile of money to fix that house. The house we bought was not in that bad of shape but it has taken lots of money to fix it AND we bought the old stuff to fix it the way it was. We couldn't afford to pay someone so it has been 13 years and we are still not done. Good job on finding this one Kappy !!!!
Hello from Scotland where there are some very interested abandoned places too. This is such an interesting former house and I think it was a Nurses Training School rather than a Doctors Office. The Helene Fuld Auxiliary is still in existence and they obviously moved out of that awkward for medical purposes use, lovely as it was. It is getting too far gone to save as it is built from wood and it already looks knackered. Enjoy your videos hugely. Keep safe.
Wow, that was quite the house. Can you imagine how big those rooms were before it was remodeled with the false walls and the staircase that goes nowhere? Can not belive some misguided soul painted those marble fireplaces, things like that make me want to cry. Love the room at the top of the house, so cool and a great view. Great explore, I enjoyed this one a whole lot. Thanks, Kappy and Ruby
Well said! The rooms even with the drop down ceiling were still easily 10 feet high! I was shocked about painting the fireplaces too lol! Strange! Thank you for the kind words and watching! :)
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 That only goes to show that someone did not have a lick of sense when it came to refitting this house for its new purpose. I think someone lied on their resume. Lol!
I was imagining the same thing...Omagosh those rooms before they were partitioned off...must have been enormous! Someone with a lot of money built that beauty...
Hi there Kappy, and Miss Ruby, I love it when she’s with you. Wonder if the little town there would have old pictures of it from back in the day. Before Edison that wanted to meter the use of electricity, they had free energy before the 1800’s, the Antenna on the top was how homes received their power from the either of the planet. Great Orbs by the first Exit sign and basement.😊
What a beauty. Stunning home. It would take major money to fix this up. If only the walls could talk. Great views from the tower. I find basements creepy too. Hope the cat is ok. A real nice explore and thanks to you and Ruby. You guys are great tour guides.
Wow! It's a shame no one made repairs before it got that bad. Can visualize the lovely woodwork and fireplaces under the paint, and how gracious it once was. Wonder if it was a hospital at one time? Thanks, you two!
Kappy & Ruby, I am afraid the black mold, fungus, fetid water, and blackish grey asbestos would have left me in severe anaphylactic shock. Beautiful bones, but man that house is headed straight for eventual destruction. Honestly it reminds me of a Spanish Revival Medical Clinic I went to when I was between the ages of 6 to 17 in Long Beach, California. It was built sometime around 1910 to 1925, and was torn down decades ago. It had areally primitve intercom system, and eletrical system, but it was a cool old place. When I was around 6 we used to go to this huge mansion in Buena Park, Calfornia that was called Murray Manor, where the enire mansion and grounds were converted from a sprawling mansion near Beach Blvd, into a showcase furniture store. It was insane how beautiful that place must have been when it was built sometime around 1910 in the middle of the orange groves and dairy farms that existed prior to 1959. Love Ya Both, and thank you so much Kappy & Ruby. Tell ya what, you both got guts!
Hi Ruby!! This place is amazing!! The windows and the woodworking is so beautiful, so sad that it's this far gone. Too late to try to save it. This place keeps going on and on!! It's huge! That fourth floor room was really cool!! I can't believe they let this place rot!! Thanks for sharing Kappy!! Peace, Kim ~
Hi Kappy and Ruby You guy’s really found a cool place. I couldn’t believe those fireplaces were still in tact. I love those floor to ceiling windows, they let in so much natural light. Those doors with the glass and the transom were all as you would say Kappy INCREDIBLE! My favorite part was the tower on top so cool! Too bad the basement was flooded but it looked like a spooky dungeon. I would have like to see this house before the remodeling. Must have been a real beauty. OMG! ok you two need to claim one of these gorgeous old buildings and get a TV show and renovate it. I will watch your show! I can't believe how awesome this house is. And it's not in the middle of nowhere. I love Ruby's enthusiasm. And Ruby, why didn't you go up the first level back turning staircase? I knew Kappy wouldn't but I expected you to. 😕🙃 I love those steep twisting back staircases 😊
Hi Alice!!! I wish I would’ve, this house was truly a maze! I usually would walk off by myself and poke around a little but I let Kappy lead the way on this one hahah 😅. Thanks for watching!❤
Wow freaking awesome 👍😎 place kappy weird the new addition falling in and most of the original structure still intact man so sad it was let go to bad all the wood wasn't stained
What av unbelievablely beautiful house! Hope it is saved!! I can not belive how they boxed the stair case in. And the tower on the top. Still have all the original features and can show you how amazing it must have been!!
Oh man, black mold and flooded basements are no joke. That caved in floor was super scary too. I know you guys know this, but please be careful. I would at least consider wearing masks in structures this bad with black mold. This house is so open to the elements, it's really just beyond repair now. It's such a shame it wasn't preserved. It's so unique and beautiful. The light plays out nicely throughout the house, really lovely. I'm glad at least it was utilized as a doctor's office even if that wasn't the original design. I can't help but be sad for this house, I know that sounds ridiculous, but, I love old houses and prefer to see them preserved if possible. You can still see how lovely she must have been in her prime. What an interesting life it has had; built from the ashes of the Civil War, ushering the dead on their journey as a funeral home, and restoring the sick (hopefully) to health again. A "circle of life" kind of place. Truly beautiful and bittersweet. Thanks for sharing, and be careful as you explore, guys! 🏚👟🎥
It's such a shame to see a beautiful house go to waste it was still active in 2007 why didn't they keep up the maintenance it's a beautiful house it could have became a beautiful apartment building or somebody is nice mansion beautiful
Amazing place! I'm not one for changing original structures, but hey I guess it's good to put them to use and extend their lives a little. At least the good doc used it. Hopefully he or she had a successful practice. I love cats! I have one. Her name is Mia. Great tour guys, thanks!
Imagine turning a house like that into a funeral home! It was an odd sensation to get caught up in the beauty of the remaining features and then look out of the windows to see modern life right next door. Didn't seem to fit. Nice of you all to be concerned about the cat! 😺
This one is worth saving, it would take a month of gutting it down to frame, “20 dumpsters “. Then surgically cut it apart into crane size pieces. Label everything, then truck it off to a new home and reassemble this old growth forest - the lead paint and all the plumbing.
Looked like someone had used for a grow op after it had been abandoned due to everything hanging from the ceilings in the downstairs area. Nice older home of once what was. Thanks for the share.
Those original details were absolutely incredible. The curved doorways and windows oh my. The fireplaces, Even the chimney was elegant. Loved the tower. I would loved to have seen it before all these poor renovations. Almost seems like there were also other businesses in there as well. Thank You as always. Hello Ruby. Stay safe
So amazing, so stunning onlly I wish it was as it was built originally. and I love how you both thought so much about the cat 🐈❤️. Bless you both and you do such an amazing job and thank you for all you do. Me and family watch you from Chicago IL 👐❤️👍👍
This place was something special. I sure hope that it's salvaged before it gets any worse. There is still so much worth saving. The glass in that upstairs door was beautiful. I wonder what the view was like from the cupola when the house was first built. This place really was a-maze-ing.
I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for bringing Ruby along I like it when she's with you. Some of these houses you go into are old as the hills and the firm believer in having someone with you just in case. See you on the next one. Thanks
another beauty, so sad......your videos are so calm and relax without any funy music in the backround. I love you art of filming, so slow, nice.Greetings from germany
Always so sad to see these beautiful buildings left to deteriorate. Back then they had no codes for railing heights so they really varied. I toured a Victorian mansion and was told women were to descend the stairs with rigid posture letting only their fingertips lightly graze the rail and never looking at their feet. Seems very dangerous. The were often very steep, too. This was a wonderful peek into the past. You were both very brave to venture upstairs and into the basement.
You had me at the porch, really. It's a freaking work of art. HIIIIII Ruby and Kappy. Missed ya'll while I was gone. But look at this goodie that waited for me when I got back. ;) Gorgeous fireplace. I do hate it to see when they've lowered the ceilings. But I get it, it's for the offices and patient's. Maybe regulations? That high ceiling is gorgeous in old houses. Lots of mold looks like in some places. The stair railing and bannisters are gorgeous. That second fireplace is gorgeous, and I see bricks peeking out at me. That transom is killer. That patterned glass is interesting, and pretty. I'm guessing this was meant as a Dr. Clinic, and that remodeling proved too expensive and too difficult. Maybe second floor was like you said, a sort of hospital/long term care. OOOOH that 3rd fireplace. This was definitely meant to be a clinical setting, regardless of what it actually ended up being. I can see shades of medical all throughout this place. It's definitely a mixed bag this house.
Wow this was really really pretty !! I can't believe that this is just sitting like this hopefully somebody swoops in and buys this up and puts her back to her former glory !! A lot of weird stuff done when they made it into a doctor's office. I just love it makes my heart ache to see it like this. Maybe something good will happened to this pretty old girl she doesn't deserve an ending like this. Great videos always Kappy !! 👍👍
There are so many people with the money to restore these beautiful houses, yet they will not donate a dime toward historic preservation. They instead build huge McMansions out of glued up wood chips, and spend on expensive cars that will be nothing but trouble.
They probably blocked off rooms when made Drs office to make rooms smaller, wished could have seen original floor plan ,but still a good explore ,did Ruby get the cat some food and bring it back ,great job y'all did, the Dr made have stayed in the apartment part ,or maybe after Dr was there someone made two apartments there, great find and a good job as usual,so glad you do these old houses
Great to see this decadent labyrinth of a beautiful place what an explore to search through there, and hopefully you bring back some goodies for the kitty that was roaming around🐈⬛ And Ruby is great on the explore, how ever, she was coughing some, Hoping she’s alright. Masks are a good idea to bring along on some treks like this. You’re a perfect team, and I just caught this a year later,Wah! Take care Sweeties 💖👍❣️✅
We are no longer together, it’s just me now, I’m sorry about that, I’d take the videos down but the houses are more important than the end of a relationship! Thanks for watching

Wow!! I wouldn't have minded going to the Doctors office back in it's prime, u just know it was spectacular, love the French doors!!So much history and living done in that house.I don't know why some of these houses arent historically preserved, what a waste! Thanks kappy, great find
Found it. I wanted to see what this home originally looked like. Old House Showcase has one titled Perfect Italianate Walkthrough. There is another one called touring 1860s Italian Villa in Tower Grove which features interior window shutters which when closed, fold up onto the sides of the windows.
Wow, what a beautiful old relic, would have been so imposing in it's time, now surrounded with ugly new buildings, makes me so sad it's come to this when the most amazing architectural treasures are being lost forever. Thanks Kappy and Ruby for this very interesting explore. Hope the resident cat is finding lots of mice to eat.
Hello Kappy and Ruby. What a fantastic place. Remodeling that place would be fun. And I have a question for Kappy. Where did you learn all this stuff you know about houses and their features. I know you're not too old. Did you have a relative who taught you??
Cool place. The more you guys walked thru it I started wondering if it may have also been a small teaching hospital at one point. The apartment like rooms upstairs could have been where the residents stayed or maybe even doctors and nurses on call. Then there was the old film reels, maybe teaching films? Lastly at the time mark 18:32, I had to go back and look again because at the ceiling it looked like there could have been a balcony area once. We have a super old hospital here that has just kept on expanding onto the original building and it has a staircase in the oldest part of the place that many don't realize because the entry point is kept locked and its in a really low traffic spot that has a stairwell that leads up to an old multipatient gjant room and a balcony that looks down into the original surgery room. From up there students could observe surgeries being performed.
wow kapppy this was coooool awesome that outlook u went into is called the widow maker but i loved the architecture of this beautiful house hi ruby great to seee ya u go girl havwe fun and seee ya sooon u 2 peace and love
Hello Ruby Thank you for going along and taking care of our old friend "Kappy".. Keep him from falling through a rotten floor or porch. Or bitten by a P.O. spider or critter. Kappy ,does this house remind you of the Winchester home?mmLOL
This is beautiful! I'm redoing a 1 1/2 story cottage built around the same time. Mine even has the curved eyebrows over the windows on the front. It also has a bay window in the living room. I would love to have 6 or 7 of those four panel interior doors! At some point, the last owner (who bought it in the 1960s) got rid of the original doors, removed all the baseboards & crown molding. He also went nuts putting up fake paneling in the kitchen, downstairs bedroom and both bedrooms upstairs. Dare I mention the drop ceiling in the kitchen? Or the small acoustic ceiling tiles in the other downstairs rooms. They had a baby grand piano for one of their daughters and the tiles helped to dampen the noise. At least the hardwood floors are in good shape due to being orotected by carpet. So needless to say, I love seeing architectural details, moldings, hardware etc!
WOW What a stunner. I cannot believe this one has been left to decay. What an absolute shame. Thank you Kappy
This is truly a remarkable find. I share in the sentiments of wishing I could have seen it in her glory days.
It hurts my heart to see this gorgeous home in such a deteriorating state.
Awwww, I love that Ruby was so concerned with the cat. I would be the same way. ☺️. I also share her love of old wallpaper 😂

True that! Was actually a funeral home before this so it’s lived a few lives! Thank you very much for watching! :)

Wow, what a mysterious beauty. It's a shame it had to get to this condition.
I've been to more than one old house that's been turned into a funeral home.
What a beautiful old place! Hi Ruby!!!! ☺️ Thanks again for sharing Kappy!!
U will love new jersey kappy and ruby...enjoy your visit to new jersey..alot to see in jersey alot of abandoned houses here..
great explore Kappy, what a beautiful place this must have been in it's original form as a home,
How beautiful! So sad she is just rotting away; hello Ruby!
Hey Carla!!❤
@@Ruby.0 hope all is well! Looking forward to next video! ❤️👍
Ruby in the house today! 🤩That was a beautiful place in its day. Shame things like this go to decay. Good find Kap! Take care you two.❤👍
It is a shame to see these special houses unloved. That place was built with love.
Those original details were absolutely incredible. The curved doorways and windows oh my. The fireplaces, Even the chimney was elegant. Loved the tower. I would loved to have seen it before all these poor renovations. Almost seems like there were also other businesses in there as well. Thank You as always. Hello Ruby. Stay safe
That was super interesting. Thanks you two)!
Kind Kappy strikes again! I am down with sinus infection this will be the only video watch today, thanks for making it a fantastic one!
Such a beautiful house!! Sad its left to rot away...Thanks for the video Kappy! Hi Ruby!!
The original bathroom tiles are amazing
What a amazing house! I could just imagine what it used to be like
So amazing, so stunning onlly I wish it was as it was built originally. and I love how you both thought so much about the cat 🐈❤️.
Kappy,I so appreciate all these places you bring us to.ThankYou!!!
Tragic, just tragic that this amazing house was left to die. 😢
Absolutely one of your best finds and exploration….this old home is speaking for itself!❤
Its hard to believe how this place fell into so much ruin in just a little over a decade
Beautiful house. I love all of it. I do love the textured glass windows and the turret.
There are so many people with the money to restore these beautiful houses, yet they will not donate a dime toward historic preservation. They instead build huge McMansions out of glued up wood chips, and spend on expensive cars that will be nothing but trouble.
Absolutely beautiful,I was imagining it in its hey day., Fireplaces, etc, wonderful to have visited doctor there, what an atmosphere, inside and out
Another gorgeous find Kappy !
Thank you kindly! Much appreciated for watching! :)
Beautiful old house. It's fun to think about the people that lived there throughout the years. But sad to see it left to rot away.
The chimney at 27:49 has some really awesome brick work.
The city should fix the old part--the house up especially. How interesting!!!
So many adorable traditional remnants, like the dolphin head below the scroll on one of the fireplaces.
The stunning tiled fireplace at 3:30! And the privacy glass in the door at 16:00. Gorgeous. what a beautiful old home.
@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 It’s fine, relating can have difficulties, that’s life in a nut shell. But so happy to see your videos, I cherish them, and I’m happy that you’re busy caring for your relatives, that’s commendably admirable,Stay Strong 💪 many of us love your connections with history as it’s important to give respects to everyone that tried to hold on to making a life somewhere, and some more simple than others but that’s our human family, and when there’s these gems that you find that are holding up to the test of time, that’s like us we go through a lot but keep ⭐️✅👍🥳😁
I love how you show the extended view and the short view great filmmaking
Hey Ruby! Glad you’re with Kappy today. You put a spring in his step and he sounds so happy when you are around. 💗😊
Hi Cindy!!!! He’s definitely sounds more excited when he’s got someone to share the experience with I’ve noticed ❤
Wow!! I wouldn't have minded going to the Doctors office back in it's prime, u just know it was spectacular, love the French doors!!So much history and living done in that house.I don't know why some of these houses arent historically preserved, what a waste! Thanks kappy, great find
I love when u show these old houses
Hello to ruby ❤
I live in Northern NJ, I’d love to know what down this is in. Not that I’d go there, just curious.
They cupola on the top in an Italian term is called a belvedere if you can stand in it. The word in Italian means beautiful view.
It was a funeral home.
Wow!! What a massive place!! Sad to see it in such disarray!
wow kapppy this was coooool awesome that outlook u went into is called the widow maker but i loved the architecture of this beautiful house hi ruby great to seee ya u go girl havwe fun and seee ya sooon u 2 peace and love
I'd love to find a photo of this house when it was in its glory!
Hi you two, just wish I knew you were stopping in NJ wouldve taken you on tour
Hello Ruby Thank you for going along and taking care of our old friend "Kappy".. Keep him from falling through a rotten floor
or porch.
Love your tender hearts for the cat.
