- Working on our projects for the weekend again. Shawn invites Hector from Howlin’ Wolf Garage to come and help him with the ‘65 Bed. Mike comes to the shop and works on the off-road camper. Justin also came to the shop to work his jeep. Everyone had a great time and ate some good food.

Honestly, it's a cool idea, and it seems like a pretty straightforward way of solving the filler neck problem.
Yeah, using an old fuel can for fill neck will be neat. If you have one of the 'toolbox' fuel cans, that would work well too.

Anything is a hammer shows their skills are unstoppable. Having someone who knows what it is supposed to look like from the pieces you have is really cool. They showed up and threw down with what they had.

Weld a tube on the bottom of the Jerry can and connect the hose under the bed. Then you get the Jerry can as extra fuel capacity.

Great idea on the trailer roof Mike.
Shawn you might want to try a “boat fuel filler cap” that you can put on the top of the bed side rail. If the diameter if the cap is wider than the bed side rail, you can put a triangular plate on the corner of the tail gat to fit the filler cap. Those boat type filler caps are usually made of stainless steel and come with a key and the top is usually flat and flushed.

Just weld a pipe into the jerry can and cut a hole in the floor for the pipe. Attach the hose to the main tank. Weld mounting brackets to the jerry can and secure to the box. You now have a filler neck and an extra 5 gallon fuel tank capacity. You would need to also modify the tank breather.

For the Jerry can, think about using it as a 5 gallon bonus tank as well as a filler. So you'll be able to drive the first 75 miles or so on each fill-up before the needle drops below full. 🙂👍

I have to admit that this 65 Chevy truck is coming out really nice. Kind or short and squat but tough looking. Going to be a good looking truck once finished Shawn. It was also nice the Howling Wolf guys came to help you out. looking forward to seeing it finished. Every one stay safe and healthy.
