    Thought "only 5 minutes, this is going to be real surface-level" but it felt like I learned an hours worth of stuff. This is the kind of stuff they pumped into Neo's brain to teach him Kung-Fu. Mikey likes it.

      HAINBACH would running tapes though diy filters work?? I saw AMULETS run walkmans through Clouds and was wondering if that would still work with diy or does it have to be eurorack?? I want to start working with modular, tapes, and minidisc. I have a Tascam 414 on the way (after seeing it used the way Alessandro Cortini, AMULETS, and yourself use it) and a pair of minidiscs (after seeing your tricks on minidisc recording I looked up and found a pair of SHARP 702’s...the exact and only minidisc player I had in the 90’s...for an absolute steal!!). Also, side question: do diy modules work with vcv??

    Yeah using the IC chips is much better sound I found. At least this works somewhat. The reverse transistor oscillator is not a good idea at all when IC chips will make a better sound, are easier to wire and will actually work when you wire them correctly rather than maybe working. I would recommend finding the IC chip for the filter and using that instead.

    currently am working on maybe 4-8 of these for use with a mixer as an insert, so far using just one seems to be fine, hasn't broken anything so far, though it does seem like i'd need to add a buffer if I want to add both a low and high pass, which is annoying but doable all things considered, just want to make sure these wouldn't hurt my mixer being used with a ring/tip insert, I don't think so but better to ask if anyone knows better than I do, yes I am aware it won't sound that great too its more a better than nothing, and I just want a subtle lowpass, and first order seems more than enough for my needs, which is basically like rounding off guitar and distorted bits

    • @jimkerak6404
      @jimkerak6404 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the low pass has the cap between the middle pin and GND. for a high pass you'd instead put the cap between the Vin and the input of the pot. so the signal goes "through" the cap. www.amplifiedparts.com/tech-articles/filter-low-pass-high-pass

    I wired it exactly as in the video, but the potentiometer only acts as kind of a volume knob - it does NOT control the cutoff frequency... If I use a 10k pot and a 100nf ceramic capacitor, the capacitor also does absolutely nothing. When using a 100uf electrolytic capacitor, the high frequencies are cut but the knob also just controls the volume?!

    QUESTION about 2nd order RC filter! As you probably know, in order to increase the slope of the filter, you have to put 2 RC filters in series. In this situation, how do I control cutoff with 1 potentiometer? Do I have to control both resistances at the same time?
