      yeah, that was a hard turn, shouldn't have even gone into D&D. I got a feeling someone either forgot the line, or needed to double check so he quickly brought that up.

    Anyone else blown away that he finished his wife's book (even with help)!? Not to mention keeping so busy with all his other work while grieving, raising a little girl, not to mention finding her a new mom? I'm in awe of Patton's time-management skills alone!

    • @mulemule

    • @kerikah
      @kerikah ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jediknightjairinaiki560 Nothing can erase the past. If I were to die soon, I would definitely want my partner to thrive and be happy and my daughter to not lose out on the vital benefits of having a mom. Disrespect needn’t enter into the equation.

    • @jediknightjairinaiki560
      @jediknightjairinaiki560 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kerikah I don't know if you believe in anything existing after this life, but for the sake of argument let's say you do. How do you imagine your husband and you and your daughter and your replacement existing? Some type of Sister Wives existence? The ability of most people to move on, to replace the dead like they're replacing a worn out pair of shoes is disheartening and disrespectful. If the person who has died meant sooooo much to those who are still living, there shouldn't be a need nor a want to find the next someone who means sooooo much to them.

    • @kerikah
      @kerikah ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jediknightjairinaiki560 Most people have at least a few romantic relationships spread out over a lifetime. Through all these relationships- even the ones that are not the most successful- we learn about ourselves, we help and love another person, which seems to me a net positive. Sometimes good relationships end against anyone’s will and we can’t be with that person anymore. Should we be frozen in time- dooming ourselves to a life of solitude- to make someone feel better who, frankly, no longer has any feelings? If someone dies, should we die [by refusing future love] ourselves out of so-called respect? (If we do have feelings up there in Heaven, they’re probably a lot more enlightened and understanding than the ignorant ones we feel on Earth, so the deceased would want us to live life to the fullest and not be more torn apart by their loss than necessary.)

    @5:20-ish, Oswalt is describing how McNamara "entered the discussion". When you become interested in something, you will typically *learn* about it from others - you'll read others' accounts, look into the history, see what's being said about this subject. And then, at some point, you realize that it's time for YOU to "enter the discussion" - it's time for YOU to become one of those experts. So you'll start writing articles, even *BOOKS*, and add YOUR VOICE to the ongoing discussion. Do this.

    A very rushed segment to talk about Michelle McNamara's life's work😐

      gus dupree he was on the show to promote Michelle McNamara's book that she worked on diligently for years. It is not private. It's an important book.

      Jen the Hollywood slut got two segments because her blockbuster is coming out ,only so much time, they had to rush ,it's sad and pathetic but pretty obvious and expected, I'm sure Stephen would've liked to talk to Patton longer as well but celebrity equels ratings , this world is about money first kids, good luck

      I've seen Patton on before talking about his wife, the loss, and her book. He was just starting to delve into her work-space. It does look like a bad cut or hard turn, but he's been on before talking about finishing it for her.... he's also recently re-married and maybe Steven didn't wanna get him all emotional? From what I've seen, Patton took Michelle's death pretty hard... grief and closure ebb and flow as they will. Him kicking off his shoes, too, was classic Patton.

    Which, in any case, as we all now know, was Judge Roy Moore's motto first.

    I love this show. I love Colbert! My question is when he greets guests if he isn't assisting a woman in insane shoes up the stairs (incredibly gallant and polite), why does he point to the front area? I believe all of his guests are intelligent enough to realize "oh, I should go this way."

    I would say the _Simpsons_ metaphor is pretty apt, though incomplete. Democrats tend to be quite a _bit_ like Lisa. Republicans, sometimes, tend to be like _Homer_ (bumbling, easily-manipulated incompetents) and _other_ times, tend to be like _Mr. Burns_ (highly intelligent, surely know better, but downright evil, utterly manipulative, psychopaths).
