    Everyone, I have been using Marie’s filling for the longest time since her first posting. It is so easy and worth the pre-cooking. I have used all Honey Crisp apples at times, and have mixed Honey Crisp in with the Granny Smith sometimes. I like the Honey Crisp the best because you can find them by the bag. Once you have put the pie together and before you use the egg wash, put your whole pie in the freezer for 15 to 20 min. (She has that posted in a recipe as well). The pie crust and filling all cook together at the same temp. Trust me, she knows what she is doing! Thanks Marie!

      Thank you Lynne!! This is so helpful for everyone! I pinned your comment so it stays at the top! I need to try more Honeycrisp - think I’ll do half and half next time! Just noticing im using exclamation points after every sentence … you can tell I’m so happy about everything you wrote! Big hugs Lynne. I so appreciate your feedback ❤️, Marie

      Yours looks to be the easiest, I don’t have corn starch or heavy cream🙃 and you only used one type of sugar which I prefer.😊

    I'm one of those people who don't like nutmeg. I make my own mixes: apple pie spice, pumpkin pie spice, poultry seasoning etc. and leave out the nutmeg. I have never prebaked my apples but I will give it a try. I usually have to cover my pie with tinfoil at the end of its baking so it doesn't get too brown.

    Hi Marie. I will be making my very first pie ever! Wish me luck! I was watching your videos and ready to give your method a try. I do have a couple of questions...Do you put foil around the edges for the first 20 mins. of baking. And a friend who is a phenomenal pie maker recommended I put flour on the inner bottom of the crust to keep it from being soggy. Is that a good idea? I am going to use a store bought crust. Thanks for any insight

    Thank you for sharing this recipe. Would you please help with double recipe for pie crust?

    • @marieskitchen
      @marieskitchen  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Kathleen! Do you mean two pie crusts - one for bottom and one for top? If so, I recommend making two separate crusts, one after the other. When you try your make two at once, I find it is harder to evenly mix in butter and water. Hope that’s helps! If I misunderstood your question just let me know ❤️, Marie

    • @kathleenwalker7715
      @kathleenwalker7715 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ thank you! I will make 2 separate crusts. I just bought a 9.5 pie plate. Apparently I didn’t roll it out enough.

    • @marieskitchen
      @marieskitchen  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How deep is the 9.5 inch plate? If it’s close to 2 inches, then you will probably need 1.5 crusts for the top and bottom. The easiest way to do that right now is to make 3 crusts and then split 1 in half (giving half to each of the other 2 crusts). Sorry if this is confusing 😅 I’m going to post a recipe for 1.5 crusts for just this reason but haven’t gotten to it yet. Stay tuned, Marie

    Hi Marie. I've been meaning to ask you this...what would the salt measurement be if it was sea salt? I know they are different. I live remotely and a box of Diamond Kosher salt, which I can only get the coarse, is $13-15.

    • @marieskitchen
      @marieskitchen  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi! If it’s fine sea salt, then 1 tsp Kosher is equal to a little less of the sea salt, or around 3/4 tsp. Kosher salt is fairly coarse (larger grains) so you can’t fit as much into a teaspoon. Otherwise, you can use them interchangeably. So I would just use a “scant” 1/2 teaspoon (not quite full to the top) sea salt in place of the Kosher salt. Hope that helps! Hugs, Marie
