Yoi need full wrap handlebars to cut from both sides of the tree with a pulling chain instead of a pushing chain. You will save so much energy because yoi won't have to push the saw in the tree .use a pulling chain not a pushing chain

That's a really nice tree and you got some nice camera angles aswell, I'm cutting a red oak next month That's a little over 4 ft dbh and that will be my record
Biggest one we ever cut logging was a popular 8 foot through the stump we put the 1st cut and a little log and that was it on the back bunk of a Evans log trailer.. 😂 lol
That looks like an exceptional tall straight tree, but the camera lense is goofy and sometimes it makes the tree look smaller compared to you and other times it looks crazy large. Some friends of mine have red oaks larger than that but not as tall looking as that one, but still very tall forest grown. I'm suprised you didn't have something like an 066 to cut that, but all those Stihls are capable.
@@hoskinslogging9858 I'd say it was four and a half foot through or a little bit bigger here then I myself would've used a 46 mag to cut it down here cause that's all me and my ol bossman used to do it here too if he was still alive I'd still be cutting it too here but he passed away a few years ago now too and don't get mad when I say this but we never used any over a twenty inch bar on our saws here either now I'd made a little bit deeper lead notch in it and then I'd cut the heart out of it through the notch afterwards and then I'd walked around it and put it on the ground too here have a great day now
Yeah you can cut some big ones with a 20 inch. That’s all dad runs. It would have took a lot of spur trimming to get this one down with one. We’ve punched the heart through the face cut before. We like the 20 inch bars because they’re easy to handle. We didn’t want to risk pulling any fiber on this one though.

Awesome job! I'm a hardwood cutter myself of 30 years. Please keep teaching what you've learned.
Timber, that was a nice tree . Been cutting timber for over thirty years. Enjoy watching your videos.
Really enjoy your content and wish you start making more !!!
We’re back buddy
Do you cut all the tree by hand or do have a tree cuter I know ketucky is different then where I live in missippi ketucky is lot more hilly
Nice job and nice tree. We work in these Virginia and eastern Kentucky mountains too.
Thanks buddy
How you getting that wood out?

Is the chain not sharp or something else going on here
I think that saw needs a new plug too
Root flares are the absolute toughest part of a tree.
Super dry hardwood can sometimes be a tough task for even full size saws and sharp chain

nice, felled it right between the saplings. Nice job. very little peripheral damage.

I'm curious how big was that tree around there
Over 10 feet in circumference. A 10 foot choker couldn’t go around it. I may count the rings and measure the stump next week.
We’ve cut timber that big before though. I’m thinking this was well over 10 feet. Maybe 11
