- Hired a timber cutter to cut a job for me and they did far more damage then good. Can’t believe the damage done. Going to job to assess damage done by a subcontractor timbercutter.

I ruined my body logging for 35 yrs. Now in my 60s it's a young mans game. (I miss it alot) I have seen some real serious stuff in the woods. It's not the place to learn from the school of hard knocks although most of us did and still do. Looked like to me that fella had that tree winched up tight and when he pulled away it pulled the skidder over. Glad everything turned out ok. I have run and owned alot of saws. Stihls and Reds and Huskys.Everyone has a preference of which ever works for them and trust me folks you can get a bad one with a glitch no matter who makes it. Don't mean it's the brand. We would say hmmm must have been made on a monday. You did a great job retrieving your skidder and I wish you the best in the future. Be safe. Thank you for the vid.

My brother inlaw is 67 an still in the woods logging up here in upper lower Michigan. It's a hard life. But rewarding

My (2) 592 I have are 3-4 pulls to start and they both run great. I do have (4) 372 that I bought all together, (3) of them are identical in the way they perform and 3-4 pulls to start. The other one I have which I call number four takes upto a dozen pulls to get it going, but it’s performance is superior to the other three I have.

all my 395s ct the same. The 592 Rippe but starts hard
I run a 592 as well. I haven’t had any issues starting it in the cold, except when I was running my buddies gas. He uses Stihl ultra oil and my saws ran horribly on that stuff. Even worse, it auto tuned itself for that garbage so when I switched back to my VP oil it took half a tank before auto tuning back.
(Only problem I’ve had with my 592 is one of the bar posts fell into the oil tank - I don’t think it was properly seated at the company. )
You know, it’s one thing to roll a guys machine over. It’s another thing to not tell him about it. What a ridiculous experience. Sorry that happened to you.

I`m glad that there`s not any serius damage to the skidder. It`s almost unbelievable to tip that machine over on a flat ground...I think that happened because the operater tried to pull the log at the bad angle...Anyway - i have a friend, he owns a small logging company, he owns a LKT skidder, he has to deal with that kind of stuff all the time : last year the guy that worked for him tipped the skidder over in the forest while the other guy was filming him for facebook - he was dragging too heavy load with the skidder`s front end up in the air, making the spectacle...it flipped over, did some heavy damage to the haul and the engine, the guy broke his shoulder...total negligence...it`s hard to find good help these days - no one wants to work any more, everyone wants to be famous on the internet...🤣

Ive had 2 592s and both of started well i did have the purge line kinking issue on one of them it may just need an auto tune reset there beast of saws but i think there are a few kinks to work out with them still

Yes I take good care of my equipment. A old machine pulls just as fast as a new one if your guys are trained well.

One of the lines fell off the carb on the 592 and created cold start issues works great again, hard to figure how one can flip a skidder on flat ground.

Hiring person today is a terrible experience not saying all crews are as bad as youve dealt with and i my self have had some well just experiences of my own, my buddy and I just work together now on eachothers contracts that kind of stuff is completely avoidable and completely not necessary. I am in Australia and have a 592XP. I’ve been running it for the past 16 months. I have the same issue. What I have found helps, prime it, pull several times, pump the primer a few more times and it’ll start 1st or second pull.

Also wanted to add, another guy I cut with sometimes, also has a 592XP, both saws purchased same place, same time, plus I have recently purchased a second 592xp, they all sound and operate completely different. My first 592, had 2 mufflers fail. I love the 592’s, I think the finer details have slipped a bit. A saw can have space age technology and and nice flash shiny appearance, but when I buy a Pro saw, I want reliability and longevity. I think that’s where Husky have slipped a bit imo.
I’m not ready to say my long term opinion yet. Saw has serious power and is light. It just sucks to start in the morning.
You need to replace the fuel line to your primer bulb, husqvarna have a new line for the primer bulb, covered under warranty
On the 592 I have , hit purge bubble 4, 5 times and it hits 2, 3 pulls evert time .

Crack the gas cap. Mine kind of vapor locks. As soon as I open the fuel cap and retighten it, it fires right up. Also if I shut the saw down for maybe half an hour, it does the same thing. Maybe the tank doesn’t vent well. Give it a try.
It was a fuel line, it has since been fixed.
That's a nice log job a lot of us would like to have..not sure why they would ruin it for themselves
I agree, the trees on this job average 500+ feet. If I had to guess there was drug use involved.
Check to make sure the choke is closing all the way on a cold start.
It was the hose going to primer.

Hello Peter. No injuries, property destruction.
Mine was the same way had it plugged in and ended up replacing the control module I believe it was called it’s the coil and wiring to the Carburetor all in one. Now usually 2-4 pulls it’s running for first start after that only one pull maybe two. I was putting a little cap full of gas in the carb intake to get started faster of a morning

Try splashing a little fuel on the air filter first thing in the morning. Or when you saw is cold. Should make a world of difference

I've had clowns here in Missouri do that kind of thing too . This country is a disaster . I'm trying to stay ahead of cutting red oaks before they are just junk firewood and can't get any help . I'm only 56 but where it's going aint good .

Mine starts 3 pulls or less every time. I did have an issue with mine after I first bought it. When I would pull it to start it the choke would disengage, causing it flood. Took it back to dealer and haven’t had a issue since.

They really had to b doing something severely stupid to turn over that skidder on flat ground sounds like they were the type of people to tell you that they had 10 years of experience when in reality they only had 10 seconds of experience

Was that level ground? I’m trying to figure out how they flipped it I run a jd 440 if it feels like it’s gonna tip I put the blade down and grade. It doesn’t look that bad of terrine though. I guess I’m just wondering I don’t ever wanna do that.
Did he try pull the log with the skidder sideways? That winch would pull it right over for sure, I pull out 20 inch trees sometimes if I can get a straight line to the landing. But not if I have to make turns.

With these new auto tune saws you have to use the purge bulb every single start on them when the saw is cold. My 572XP is the same way. The dealer told me to use the purge . Press 6-7 full times. Now it starts in 3pulls every time.
Kinked lines on this particular saw.
Unfortunately, Husqvarna is the hardest starting chainsaw in the industry. I had a 562 xp, T540xp and 3120xp they were all extremely cold blooded from a cold start. So instead of using Husky, I switched over everything to using Stihl. I find using Stihl as a brand is a lot easier to use and start. Echo just has no top end power for pulling through big rounds or timber.
I totally disagree. I have owned 15-20 395s, a 3120 and 2 592s and I’ve only had trouble starting 1 592 which I fixed. Some Ported saws all seam to start hard.
Did you upgrade firmware? or is just out of box from factory If not go to husky dealer and let them do it. New saw with factory settings has cold or in my case hot start problem after downloading problems disappeared. I did to my 550xp m2 572xp and 592xp going to check if they have upgrade for T540xp m3 just bought

Tuning IS your Key to Easy Starts on your saw. I tune for running performance and when you get that right and your fuel system is clean and adjusted for ALL proper specs that saw will start easy, part of it is knowing what combo of choke adjustment to and "signs" the engine gives such as a Pop after 2 pulls comp. release On and push choke down to 1/2 or 1/4 Quickly and 3rd pull you are running and 1 pull the rest of the day. More than 3 pulls to cold start then ya may need tuning.

I’ve had my 592 for a year. It only comes out so often but I’ve never experienced hard starting. Only problem I had was the primer bulb line from the factory had a kink in it and when I’d go to rev it from idle it would die. The shop I bought it from took it apart and told me that. It does seem to be fixed. Usually hard start is lack of low side fuel right??
Not sure. Mine had a kink and I repaired it and it starts better now
I feel like the timberjack could have done it… but its a severe operator mistake here, incorrect winching position, blade not on the ground (stabilizer) for winching.
I had a near miss like at 12years old, luckily my father saw the error and yell at me to release the winch before it was too late. Much bigger equipment than this small baby, its was a TreeFarmer C6D

Mess is cleaned up and we’re back rolling and that cutter is on down the road.

@@Good.Fellers Never seems to happen to my 2100 and it's still got its Jiggle valve in (governor), I'd like to think new gear is on an upward plane getting better and better, but I often value old gear more, the more new gear I run.
That saw gets really good reviews all over, Donny walker has posted some good content about some assembly issues, good components but put together not so well, right at the end.
That's a story of modern equipment, at least that saws not crazily electronic is it ?
His skidder operating surely sucks however the feller showed excellent skills. At least what tree butts were visible. Retired one man operation for 28 years. You are correct as where the timber remains. The days of seeing it driving down the road is long gone. ?? Buying on the stump or paying after trucking??
He would cut one tree well then bust the next one. I’m not sure if he was good or just sometimes lucky. I’ll I know is he won’t be back on my job. Not because he rolled a skidder, but because he wasn’t honest about what happened on this job site. As far as buying timber it depends on the landowner. If you have good timber then I’m gonna do what it takes to get it bought.

In all your videos you are working on relatively level ground. Would working in hilly terrain change your strategy/tactics when felling trees? You are so composed and thoughtful about your work, I just wonder if that would be a consideration.
Absolutely, we work around river bottoms and ravines from time to time and techniques are changed as needed. My entire operation is based on working in areas that are hard to get to. Usually crossing swamps, rivers, or getting access that is hard to purchase. Good timber isn’t available in very many easy to access woods anymore. So we go where we have to go get it and adapt as needed.
From the terrain I have observed a log arch would work well . Leaving a smaller disturbance, using a small piece of equipment to transport the logs. Land owners less concern with damage to haul roads. On a side note , don't you like Stihl chainsaws?@@Good.Fellers

@thisguy9527 no one in my region runs stihl saws. I owned a 660 and thought it was subpar to a 395.
It sucks when sub-contractors let you down. At least there was no major damage caused.
Regarding starting Husky saws I never have trouble if I religiously follow the 4 primer pumps full choke, then 2 primer pumps once it fires (but that is for 560s and 550s).

Typical start only should 3 to 4 pull's on choke, when slite start, move choke up 1 or adjust next pull should start and rev up slowly when get too high RPM hit trigger and typically idle, all I've had i have zero tolerance other than I described, also when buying use same protocol if doesn't, i walk away.
Mine is baby 026 I've killed hundreds of tree's since 2016 to currently, 3 years I've cut beside a husky 395 28" bar kept up almost best 1st one was a 028 boss.
Love to count on great saw, can't put a price on it.

Laid a John deere over in steep mountain in south west , Virginia in the 90s slid off bluff into a raving, soon as it stopped moving killed engine, took a 650 jd dozer to get it out, lucky to be able to tell the story, he had the drag winched high and machine turned hard , gravity rules , stay safe and keep getting it !
@@jtrocktree5409 I’ve done a lot of things but I’ve never flipped a skidder. On a cable machine on flat ground, drop the log. Worse part of this is this guy wasn’t even cutting trees he was supposed to cut. That skidder should have never been in this position.

Yeah, usually depending on the gas mix and the spark plug gap. That's your two main problems with this start problem
I've been running chainsaw since I was 10 years old and one thing I do know is most likely the spark isn't set upright and the other part would probablythe fuel mixture. It's not strong enough or too strong
The saw had problems from the factory, it’s getting repaired under warranty right now.
A fuel line was to long and pinching . I bought a newer 592 with upgraded lines and it’s starts much better.
Went to forestry school in 2004 in Newfoundland, there was and is so much gate keeping in the industry that I left, old people that don't want any threat to their positions, everything from cutters to foresters to office personnel, that's why logging is left with the morons and bottom rung crews, all the good ones are paid top dollar because there's so few left.
Interesting, here in the U.S. there’s not a lot of people getting into this trade.

I have a second gen 592xp the fuel line popped off bran new on first tank of fuel, check that out after I re routed it starts great cold, hot whatever I love that saw

The Purge line from your primer bulb is too long and it pinches itself. The dealership know about it and can fix it or you can do it. A fingernail clippers will trim that hose.

I have a 450 rancher that used to be like that. Pull and ppull, and pull, and it'd start and cut immediately until it was warmed up and then it was a single pull start all day long. Then one day I watched a video about chain tensioning and I realised that when my chain was hot I was tensioning it up to take up the slack and then leaving it tensioned when I put it away thinking it would be set for the next time I needed it. Big mistake! I started undoing the bar nut as soon as I was done with the saw and leaving it loose while stored and then starting it for the first time loose before warming it up and dialing in the tension. As soon as I started this habit, I noticed that it started in the cold a lot easier!

Stick is easier to use to mark off logs.
All of the newer saws are like that with the huskys anything smaller than the 372 XP they all have the primer bulb and I won't own a saw that has a primer bulb on it
I own 3 592s and there pretty awesome saws.
That saw sounds like it has a small hole in the diaphragm or the tiny filter in the tank is dirty I had a Stihl weed wacker that started and ran like that for a while then one day it wouldn't start at all and that's what I found wrong I am glad you were able to save your job from compleat disaster and good luck with the saw...

I do and it still doesn’t start well. My 572 starts in 2 or three pulls every time.

@drltreecare7353 mine takes about 7-10 pulls with or without the bulb, the must be a problem. It shows gas in the primer.

Yeah, the husky autotune system is crap. No end of problems with mine. Spent more time in the shop then working. Kiddos to my dealer and husky. My dealer told them my 550 was a lemon and they sent me a new one. Id stick with the 395 for a bit.

I’ve had bad luck with getting cold Husky saws to start. Once they’re running, one or two pulls. Can’t speak to this one though
I never have problems with 395s but this 592 takes a lot of pulls.
Yea get the 592 checked out. Mine cold starts 2-3 pulls even after sitting on shelf 6 weeks

This guy worked here for a year, then in one week dropped a tree on a transformer crushed a chain link fence and rolled the skidder.

It is but in this world you never know what to expect. I just keep the trees falling and the logs hauling and when the smoke clears hope for the best.
Thats all any of us can do. Hope like heck it all comes out fine. Its unfotunate the kids workimg didn't let you know right away stuff happened. Seeing the skidder on level ground flipped over totally tripped me out. Seen things like that before. Usually at the bottom of a steep hill. Good luck with the rest of that job. My only thought was "I hope this is not going to get worse". when you put all the lift on one fork. Out of caution I would have pushed the tines together to distribute the load and not spring a fork. Glad the machine was not damaged to any great degree. Well done.

I took a 5 series saw back to my dealer with starting problems, they did a software update its better but not as good as any of my 3 series saws.

Iv got the new craftsman 52cc chainsaw that everyone says it's junk but it the exact same saw as yours it's even stamped Husqvarna and it's hard to start when it's cold but dose good when it warm.
My saw is 90 cc’s.
What I was get at iv got the saw made by Husqvarna and it does the same thing as yours

I have a 3 year old 550xp, it to starts hard when cold, sometimes harder than others, it does help when I push the primer bulb. My sons Stihls that ar 4 years old starts everytime 1-2 pulls, hot cold or sitting for 4 months......

Typical Husqvarna auto tune. I have the same saw same deal 562 and 572 same thing. I gave up on husqvarna saws to many problems
I’ve had two that run great and had to change the fuel line in this one and now it awesome.
I have the same problem, when my saw was new I had to take the spark plug out and put a little bit of oil in the hole to get it started. It helps with the compression, after running the saw the ring get tighter and it starts easier

Right on, I found a kinked fuel line and trimmed it solved some of the issue.
@Good.Fellers you may have toasted the piston and rings by now since it was kinked like that and not getting all the fuel it needed when full throttle. That's a beast of a saw though and what size engine is in it? Sounds like a big engine for a chainsaw

Flat land logging doesn't seem possible to flip a skidder 😮timber jack like a Timex watch takes a licking and keeps on ticking❤

@Good.Fellers ok, I live in Fayetteville about an hour east of Cincinnati, I'm wanting to get into the timber business, my dad used to do it when I was a youngster , I lost him 10 years ago to cancer, I'm 31 now so I figured if I'm gonna start cutting I need to do it now, I'm learning alot watching you , your knowledgeable and you take pride in what you do, I still need to learn alot and how to find timber, keep them videos coming I love them , I even watch them on my breaktime at work.

Sorry brother, my comment is so late. As for your saw, check your spark arrestor. If there are plugged up, that will be your hard start issue, or your pickup tube is faulty
