Hellboy 2 did not earn enough at the box office. It was competing with the Dark Knight at the time.

Plus it was less interesting than the first.. And the first wasn't that great either in terms of story telling.

Something I love about Joe is that he really cares about perfecting his craft. He knows to listen to his criticism and use it to improve his platform. I fell off the AJ bandwagon for a little while a few years ago but I'm starting to watch a lot of his content again and I just love it.

His smile at that point is like he is spiting those who felt that way, but for most of us who nerd out with friends we know that's just how these conversations go, there is always that one friend who says their mind as fast as they think. Imagine a Hellboy animated series with the animation style similar to the animated Hellboy films we got. All we need is Mike Minola as a creative consultant, Gulmerio Del Toro as creator(as he’s done great animated shows for DreamWorks), and of course Ron Pearlman back as Hellboy and we’re pretty much set.

Just wanted to say, I've been particularly harsh as of late with you in your past few videos. But I have to say, I was very impressed with how well you have handled the criticism. I genuinely enjoyed watching this movie critique. It really felt like you gave Alex and OJ time to talk, while also putting in your own two cents. This was hella entertaining and I do hope you continue with these movie reviews in this format.
Based on the comments, it seems like I'm the only one who kinda saw that as a bit of an "F you" to everyone who comments that he interrupts too much. 😂

Just got back from the theater and you guys nailed it. I feel like this movie could have been saved in editing, and also thought it seemed like a trilogy crammed into a feature length film. So much exposition.
Well I gott say Joe took the advice, I can hear the other two, and despite him being a little salty about it, he seriously did a good job with the back and forth and didnt cut them off. This is the kind of review I like to see. Great work joe!
Edit: just saw the movie. Joe was right, it was awful. I let the visuals slide, but the dialogue was absolute shit.

I feel hes kinda blend, probably because I dont see him in other stuff. I grew to like Delrith as an example and I enjoy when Joe, AJ and Del talk about games and movies.
Movie was definitely booty cheeks. The only character i like qas the cat dude...and i dont even remember his name. Hell boy looked TERRIBLE! That beer belly six pack with the hairy back was just gross. I did like some of the monsters though.

to be completely honest, I read comments and noticed you do tend to talk over your co hosts, and at times it seemed to be a little strong. This was a very nice change of pace. To me, it felt like when you DID speak, I wasn't nearly as distracted, and felt more emphasis, on what you were saying, but also was able to appreciate what your co hosts were saying more too. I really liked this episode, and hope you keep up the good work. Great review, and thanks for saving me the money, as I was looking forward to this movie in sorts, but knew it wouldn't be as good as the original two. thanks again

Despite being a quite fun action movie, what they did to Mako character in PRU was total garbage. I feel like She was intended to be the center of the story down the line with Del Toro's continuation. Now Pacific Rim series pretty much another miss-opportunity & put on shelves franchise.

Sadly, he was at Universal at the time and they wouldn't let him do ANYTHING that he wanted!! And sadly, Crimson Peak suffered greatly because of their interference.
They didn't let him do HB3 because he wanted too much money for it. Take in note that the first two Hellboy movies bombed at the box office.

TBH this version was more comic accurate. The main issues for this film was the horrendous CGI and the fact the director was booted half way through the film.
Most ppl only complained about the CG and the fact Ron Perlman wasnt there. I felt like this movie felt more true to book, and a badass.

I'm still considering seeing the new Ghostbusters, but I first read the IDW comics. Those are very good at continuing the continuity of the original films and the game.
They need to get Ron Pearl man back in the main title role if they are going to make Hellboy 3.
DB Evolution was so bad Akira Toriyama came back to Dragon Ball to make up for it. Here's hoping Del Toro feels the same.

Maybe a bad reboot will prompt the original crew to make Hellboy 3, just like what happened with Ghostbusters.
Kristjan Kangro the original crew of ghostbusters is almost dead, that’s why originally they wanted to reboot it with the „new ghostbusters“ crew, you know, the version with the goth chick in the team but because of intervention from a certain woman in leading position it was pushed aside over and over till asskisser paul feig got the job instead of the previous man in charge and he delivered EXACTLY what she wanted....all female ghostbusters (it’s his shtick, what did you expect?)
Doubt it. The studio will probably just see it as people not caring about the franchise and even if we will ever see a new one it would be years and years later. And neither Ron Perlman or Guillermo Del Toro are getting any younger at this point.

Can't believe they mentioned Pendle Hill in the film. I live in the UK and Pendle Hill is a few miles away from my town.
Plus it is actually famous for being a place where witches were killed in ages past.
In the movie and Hellboy books... A bunch of witches were killed and bury in the forest... So in the movie these old lady zombies start jumping Hellboy and Friends and they fight them off for a bit...
In the books the witches are friendly somewhat and warn Hellboy about Nimue.... And that they want her in Hell or something like that...

@Da Ca oh my damn... I barely just made it to what i think was the middle of the film before turning it off. Why are these people allowed to be funded a budget for shit like this... Who makes it out of film school to create shit like this jumbled garbage.... This world is twisted as im sure there's someone flipping burgers for a living that probably has a masterpiece hidden in his or her brain.

@@shadows1321 , have not seen that, but the movie takes the reference from The Storm...Where Hellboy had to give up one of his eye to Baba Yaga to find Nimue. In fact Baba Taga is a recurring character in Hellboy comics.
It's part of a trilogy, Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt and The Storm. This movie, however bad it was, followed the source material more closely than Del Toro ever did.
