Something I love about Joe is that he really cares about perfecting his craft. He knows to listen to his criticism and use it to improve his platform. I fell off the AJ bandwagon for a little while a few years ago but I'm starting to watch a lot of his content again and I just love it.

Imagine a Hellboy animated series with the animation style similar to the animated Hellboy films we got. All we need is Mike Minola as a creative consultant, Gulmerio Del Toro as creator(as he’s done great animated shows for DreamWorks), and of course Ron Pearlman back as Hellboy and we’re pretty much set.

Despite being a quite fun action movie, what they did to Mako character in PRU was total garbage. I feel like She was intended to be the center of the story down the line with Del Toro's continuation. Now Pacific Rim series pretty much another miss-opportunity & put on shelves franchise.
I agree. Although Del Toro did those movies just to get funding for his passion projects, you can clearly see that he actually care about those movies. Especially the monsters which he deeply love.
Just got back from the theater and you guys nailed it. I feel like this movie could have been saved in editing, and also thought it seemed like a trilogy crammed into a feature length film. So much exposition.
...and they wouldn't let Del Toro make his third film - and didn't allow him an R rating. This makes me sad. Sigh. This reminds me that we'll probably never see his At the Mountains of Madness, either.
Sadly, he was at Universal at the time and they wouldn't let him do ANYTHING that he wanted!! And sadly, Crimson Peak suffered greatly because of their interference.

It's part of a trilogy, Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt and The Storm. This movie, however bad it was, followed the source material more closely than Del Toro ever did.
Del Toro actually made two really good BPRD movies. But the Mignola atmosphere is basically unfilmable, but Perlman was definitely Hellboy through and through.

TBH this version was more comic accurate. The main issues for this film was the horrendous CGI and the fact the director was booted half way through the film.
to be completely honest, I read comments and noticed you do tend to talk over your co hosts, and at times it seemed to be a little strong. This was a very nice change of pace. To me, it felt like when you DID speak, I wasn't nearly as distracted, and felt more emphasis, on what you were saying, but also was able to appreciate what your co hosts were saying more too. I really liked this episode, and hope you keep up the good work. Kristjan Kangro the original crew of ghostbusters is almost dead, that’s why originally they wanted to reboot it with the „new ghostbusters“ crew, you know, the version with the goth chick in the team but because of intervention from a certain woman in leading position it was pushed aside over and over till asskisser paul feig got the job instead of the previous man in charge and he delivered EXACTLY what she wanted....all female ghostbusters (it’s his shtick, what did you expect?)

Yep, Baba Yaga was the best part of this movie, she stole the show. Her house, her appearance, her voice, the way she moved...everything was grotesque perfection with her. Felt like a Guillermo character, truly.

Despite being a quite fun action movie, what they did to Mako character in PRU was total garbage. I feel like She was intended to be the center of the story down the line with Del Toro's continuation. Now Pacific Rim series pretty much another miss-opportunity & put on shelves franchise.

I agree. Although Del Toro did those movies just to get funding for his passion projects, you can clearly see that he actually care about those movies. Especially the monsters which he deeply love.
Just got back from the theater and you guys nailed it. I feel like this movie could have been saved in editing, and also thought it seemed like a trilogy crammed into a feature length film. So much exposition.

You clearly don't appreciate the concept of bring open minded, it you did you wouldn't have made this comment, looking at it with an open mind i can say that when gold friends drink and nerd out, people interrupt each other and don't actually care, the only ones who notice are the outsiders who have no choice but to sit back and listen and watch. We aren't in the conversation so we aren't waiting for it time to speak, I guarantee Joe's friends don't care nearly as much as the fans do, they may not even notice it half the time. People complaining makes me wonder how many of them actually have a friend group, or if they don't look at things from every angle.

@@shadows1321 , have not seen that, but the movie takes the reference from The Storm...Where Hellboy had to give up one of his eye to Baba Yaga to find Nimue. In fact Baba Taga is a recurring character in Hellboy comics.
It's part of a trilogy, Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt and The Storm. This movie, however bad it was, followed the source material more closely than Del Toro ever did.
They should have let Del Toro, a master storyteller, finish his trilogy. SMDH

Del Toro actually made two really good BPRD movies. But the Mignola atmosphere is basically unfilmable, but Perlman was definitely Hellboy through and through.

@TrueGamerOpinion I don't know, there's a very unconventional style of storytelling in the Hellboy comics that I just don't think would work on screen. The BPRD arc, though, is much more conventional.

Devil May Cry games? I would say Hellboy 2019 is the Anime with lots of violence and Hellboy 1 and 2 is Devil May Cry 1 and 3.
Hopefully they also pull a DMC by completely ignoring the reboot, and giving us a proper sequel to the original films.

TBH this version was more comic accurate. The main issues for this film was the horrendous CGI and the fact the director was booted half way through the film.
Most ppl only complained about the CG and the fact Ron Perlman wasnt there. I felt like this movie felt more true to book, and a badass.

to be completely honest, I read comments and noticed you do tend to talk over your co hosts, and at times it seemed to be a little strong. This was a very nice change of pace. To me, it felt like when you DID speak, I wasn't nearly as distracted, and felt more emphasis, on what you were saying, but also was able to appreciate what your co hosts were saying more too. I really liked this episode, and hope you keep up the good work. Great review, and thanks for saving me the money, as I was looking forward to this movie in sorts, but knew it wouldn't be as good as the original two. thanks again

Maybe a bad reboot will prompt the original crew to make Hellboy 3, just like what happened with Ghostbusters.

Yep, Baba Yaga was the best part of this movie, she stole the show. Her house, her appearance, her voice, the way she moved...everything was grotesque perfection with her. Felt like a Guillermo character, truly.
