Great tutorial! I've been blowing glass for 7 years and you just did a move that blew my mind! I still get excited when I see new ways of doing something, specially when I've been doing it poorly in comparison. Thank you for sharing!
Great example of putting effort into prep time to make the rest easier. I need to work on making a smoother closure for the dome to rest against without trapping a bubble but it worked well.
Thank you! The marvering pad is my own design and is available in my Etsy shop. ShawnTuckerGlass.etsy.com. The torch was a Victor that I customized. You can watch a video in which I talk about it a bit here: th-cam.com/video/SMvqTESa7nQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Christine - I don't want to get into the merits of different types of glass, but if you wanted to do it this way, then Devardi makes a soft glass tube. Or, you could just encase.
This is my full time job. I'm lucky in that I am able to do what I love as a career. Most of what I do is self-taught, but I have taken a few classes here and there.
@@oregonmadefunctionalglass-4960 Wow! That’s so cool you’re really lucky and I can definitely see in the quality of your work that you like wat you do. Keep up the quality content :))
That is the FIRST wood marver I have seen for a lampworker. Awesome!
Thank you! They are actually more common than you'd think.
And the way up use the handle to keep the jellyfish centered while melting it in is ingenious. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much for making this.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for watching. I know many of my techniques are different than other glassblowers.
WOOOOOOOOWW!!!!!!fantastic work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Let me know if there are any techniques you'd like to see.

Sure thing. Let me know if there are any techniques you'd like to see.

You're welcome!
Awesome information thank you
Our pleasure!

A little suction on the blowhose at just the right moment. And very hot glass. And a bit of practice. Thanks for trying it!
Fascinating 👏👏👏💓
Thank you!
the video so good like jelly fish
Thank you!
Love your narration at first.
Thank you, David. I'm trying to make my explanations as clear as possible.
@@oregonmadefunctionalglass-4960 TH-cam is my teacher. Nobody around me does anything like this.
Where are you located, David?

Larry Brickman is located in Enid. He does soda lime glass beads, not boro, but he's well known and teaches.
I recently began flameworking. The wood does leave any kind of marks or scuzz on the glass? Super cool method!
Not if it is kept in water.
Thank you sir!
You are welcome!
Good explanation. What kind of wood is that paddle made out of?
Thank you, Charles. Any good, dense hardwood will work. Cherry is traditional, but my paddle is made of hickory.
Thank you
You're welcome
Where did you get your arrowhead marver?
I make them - they are my own design. They are available in my Etsy store. ShawnTuckerGlass.etsy.com
What kind of torch is that? It's super unique and old school cool. Also love that rotating mulit function marver pad!

Do you dip the wood paddle in water before you use it?
I keep the paddle in water when I'm not using it. If you just dip it, then it isn't soaked through.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you.
If I wanted to make a soft glass jellyfish bead, I would just encase the jellyfish, true, Sir?
Hi Christine - I don't want to get into the merits of different types of glass, but if you wanted to do it this way, then Devardi makes a soft glass tube. Or, you could just encase.
I work in soft glass, and I would recommend trying a mushroom push-implosion style technique. I've had pretty good luck with that for jellyfish.
Implosion works in boro as well as soft glass - this is just the way _I_ make them.
@@oregonmadefunctionalglass-4960 For sure. Love the technique by the way!

Are you paid to do this or are you self taught as a hobby?
