CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER!?!?!? I absolutely love you Smags. Sorry for pestering you for so long about this album, I’m absolutely over the moon right now though.
This era of music for the UK was great, id especially recommend listening the first few arctic monkeys albums "Whatever people say I am, that what I'm not" and "Favourite Worst Nightmare"
This is my favorite album of all time. I'm so happy to see it getting a wider audience here in the past few years due to these reactions. Only a few years ago there were little to no reactions to it and now there are plenty and I watch all of them. There really is nothing else out there quite like this album. It feels like wintery nostalgia for a love you never truly had. It feels like that crush that you know liked you back, but you just never had it in you to truly ask and now sit here and wonder how things would have turned out for you now if you did, or if it would've just been an insignificant event in the end anyway. This album blew me away when I first listened to it back in 2005 and still blows me away to this day. I could literally write a book about my experience with this album. It's the album that got me into drumming and It's perfect in every sense of the word. But most of all, do not fail to recognize the true MVP of this record, Paul Epworth. Sure, Kele, Gordon, Russel, and Matt all had their role in the band, but Paul was the one that truly made it all glue together. Without him, we wouldn't have had this record and I thank the stars everyday that they chose to work with him over anyone else.
I would love if you listened to any of these albums Interpol- Antics Editors- An end has a start The Chameleons- Strange times or Script of the bridge White Lies- To lose my life
wooooo glad you finally got to this one! Love this record. Still hoping for Perfect From Now On sometime soon and hope to see you get to Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it In People
Going to drop my recommendations again, would love to see some of them one day: .) Sigur Rós - Takk .) M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us .) Mew - Frengers .) Sigur Rós - Untitled .) The Notwist - Neon Golden
Got some great recommendations for next season. I think you’ll love something like Wake of the Flood (Grateful Dead), Aja (Steely Dan), or Trick of the Tail (Genesis). But if you want more modern stuff then I definitely suggest anything by the Strokes or the album Magnolia Electric Co. (Songs:Ohia). It’s absolutely beautiful. Keep it up :)
Finally those comments are over Jkjk Recs: Sigur ros- () Built to Spill- Perfect from Now on (Better be in the next season) Spiritualized- Ladies and Gentlemen we are floating in space
You’ll like Gang of Four’s entertainment, it has that funk punk, dance punk post punk type genre. I bet you’ll like it. Great album and reaction, thanks Smags as always!
Loved this video man this is my first time hearing this album too. ❤️ Yo deja Intendu is a crazy album dawg it’s one of the best Emo albums ever made and u haven’t done much Emo so it would be a cool album to hear. Love the videos dude your my most watched channel This month.
This album is tremendous. Bloc Party are such a good band. Their discography, especially anything in and around the first three albums are worth listening to 🤘🏽
I won't lie and say that Lamb As Effigy is absolutely essential and should be high on your list, but the people who have been recommending it are cooking, for me its the best album of the year and not many people have made discussions or videos about it yet
This album had a choke hold on me during high school. Highly recommend checking out It’s Blitz by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, and Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol
If you like mellow, touching songs, their second album would be a must for you. Great to see someone loving this album and this band I cherish since 2004 ☺️
Daughters is definitely something you need to get to! Both Daughters' self titled and You Won't Get What You Want are some of the best noise rock you'll hear.
Smags you really do get to everything. No bullshit just straight to the music. This is an in-dubious w but, London Calling would be indubitably nondubitable for a great reaction.😩 p.s White Pony will make you scream (double p.s the s is silent 😮)
No way you reacted to one of my favorites😭 If you could sign the bjork journey off with a final reaction it’d be fire! I recommend Utopia, because it’s the most wtf. But maybe biophilia, because you’ll probably hate it..
+1 to Aja by Steely Dan mentioned elsewhere, and if you really want to flex your interpretation muscles you’ve got to check out Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis. That one’s a doozy.
40 done 40 more to come! Gonna dump some old and new recs here. Incunabula by Autechre: i know this is probably coming Flood by Boris: this too ICBYD and Syro by Aphex Twin: to finish out the album discog Fake Train by Unwound You’re Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr: Essential Noise/Indie rock Atomizer by Big Black: Essential noise rock from Steve Albini himself Analphabetapolothology by Cap’n Jazz: a compilation album of all the music these guys recorded. One of the best midwest emo records. Pinkerton by Weezer: ”It’s Weezer and it’s weezy” Lil Wayne
4:50 I thought of American european phrases more directly and personal to the Kele. "More American" - from people judging his tastes and influences while "more European" is about racist remarks on his status as a Nigerian descendant in the UK.
I remember buying this album when it first came out. There were a lot of good but not great British bands coming through then, The Libertines, Razorlight, Kasabian amongst others.
with this and Toxicity recently, you should really peek your head into Punk / Hardcore stuff highly recommend "Plastic Surgery Disasters" by Dead Kennedys! black flag, bad brains, descendents, minor threat are all great to look into as well!
Great Vid! A great album to listen to is "Ignore The Ignorant" by the Cribs (2009). It has Johnny Marr (from The Smiths) on guitar and it's one of the most underrated albums I've ever heard.
Woah I've never heard of these guys. That bass was right in your face pretty quick! A cool, classic tone. Love when you can tell that a band's bassist is doing it because they love playing bass and not just because they needed someone to fill out the slot. Here's some recs of albums with killer bass work The Killers - Hot Fuss Vulfpeck - The Beautiful Game (Honestly this is required listening for anyone looking to broaden their musical horizons; Vulfpeck is phenomenal) Better Than Ezra - Deluxe (One of many tragic one-hit wonder bands from the 90s. Unique blend of genres. Like alt-rock/pop/bluegrass(?)) Blind Melon - Self Titled (Another 90s one-hit wonder. A _really_ cool southern-style rock album. Folky. This album surprised the hell out of me) Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party (Oingo Boingo is incredible. Like most 80s new wave bands, they defy genre. Honestly check out literally any Oingo. They're awesome)
In terms of album I recommend you listen to, check out: XTC - Skylarking [THERE ARE SOME TRANSITIONS THROUGH THESE SONGS - MAKE SURE TO LISTEN TO THEM] XTC - Oranges & Lemons Beck - Odelay Beck - Mutations Ween - Chocolate and Cheese Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique Mr. Bungle - California Blur - Think Tank
hey man you should give "For Lovers" by Lamp a try, its a super sensual japanese pop record that absolutely slaps. Super satisfying all around. I will also always recommend "SINNER GET READY" by Lingua Ignota, the record is a painful release of trauma that is absolutely chilling.
New season time 🙏 You should get back to bands/artists like Unwound, Alex G, and Sonic Youth Also, think you will ever get into more extreme genres now that you’ve done some metal?
When I listen to your review and you hit "This Modern Love" I hear A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SONG BY A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ARTIST - Whay comes though on my speakers is a track called Recorddeals by 1 9 0 5 & Former City Records?
Please listen to ceres and calypso in the deep time if you haven’t already. It’s incredibly dense in its production as well as in the world it creates.
Been watching for a while now. Wondering if you are planning to just stay in the rock/ metal/indie/electro stuff of if you may be interesting checking out some classic 70’s soul/funk/jazz and the like. Just off the top of my head I’m talking Funkadelic “maggot brain”. Isaac Hayes “black moses” and shit like that
i would absolutely ascend if you would take a listen to probably my personal favorite album of all time Divorce Lawyers I Shaved My Head by Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum. a concept album about two people of confused genders and identities struggling through a failing marriage during a fictional “glandolinian” war in 1990. This album means a lot to me and helped me to realize my own queer identity
I will be that annoying recommendation guy: Pavement: Slanted/Enchanted Microphones: It Was Hot We Stayed in the Water Bobby Conn: Rise Up Smog: Knock Knock Cat Power: Moon Pix Superchunk: Foolish Beat Happening: You Turn Me On
You should try The New Pornographers. Nobody reacts to them . Indie rock/power pop. Twin Cinema, Brill Bruisers and Challengers are my personal top 3 of their albums, but they’re all good.
CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHER!?!?!?
I absolutely love you Smags. Sorry for pestering you for so long about this album, I’m absolutely over the moon right now though.
You definitely lost to this
@@Smiggieballs1 Yeah. Toxicity got me on the edge and this finished me off. Smags really hit me with a wombo combo this weekend
@@sealex6890crazy statement but I respect it
Heck yeah, one of my favourite albums of all time. It's flawless.
I think Bloc Party is easily one of the best bands to come out of the mid 00's. This album has stood the test of time.
Copyright owners blocked this modern love just lettin y’all know
Nooooooo
I did wonder what was going on. My favourite track on the album
This era of music for the UK was great, id especially recommend listening the first few arctic monkeys albums "Whatever people say I am, that what I'm not" and "Favourite Worst Nightmare"
For sure. Whatever People Say I Am is their first and best album. That album carried me through my teens.
Another W. Some more recommendations:
Hum - you'd prefer an astronaut
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
Queens of the Stone Age - self titled or Rated R
I was 15 when silent alarm came out and 20 years later its still my favourite album of all time

"next up we got 'this modern love'"
"make u wanna hit it from the back"
fitting lmao 💀
I would love if you listened to any of these albums
Interpol- Antics
Editors- An end has a start
The Chameleons- Strange times or Script of the bridge
White Lies- To lose my life
I second The Chameleons
Yesssss so glad you did this, one of my all time favourite albums. A childhood classic.
Goated album.
You should definitely give Moon and Antarctica by Modest Mouse a listen. Their best album imo
the drumming is crazy that's what makes this album
recommendation: sadness - i want to be there
Please can you do "script of the bridge" by the Chameleons
excellent suggestion
"Helicopter" is about George Bush, Jr.
nah everyone thinks this but it’s actually about kele and his relationship with his father
SO HYPE FOR THE LIST🔥🔥🔥

What a rattling experience that first listen was
Blue Light has outlasted most songs I've ever playlisted with it being there for like 15+ years and no it isn't a different singer.
This album had a choke hold on me during high school. Highly recommend checking out It’s Blitz by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, and Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol
Congrats on the series finale Smags!
Just a shame that the singer is a rapist and overall terrible person
Second this. You Won't Get What you Want is amazing
this was my favorite album that year. Shame about the vocalist tho.
id much rather listen to lingua ignota than that abusive fuck
Crumbling by Mid-Air-Theif is great. The way he is able to craft so many sounds together and all make them fit seamlessly is crazy. Highly recommend !
I did that !
A reaction to Deerhunter would be based. Specifically "Halcyon Digest"
THANK YOU BRO ❤
