  • As part of a growing new breed of sub-compact SUV's to hit the market, Mazda adds its entry into this hot new segment, equipping it with the brand's typical "zoom-zoom" DNA and upscale, premium vibe. Those of you who plan to actually use the vehicle for hauling may want to consider one of its roomier rivals.

      +TH-cam Aneesh Honda HR-V is much more functional.

    • @zuhayrali4202
      @zuhayrali4202 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TH-cam Aneesh there is lots of competition...Honda HR-V, Subaru XV Crosstek, Chevy Trax, Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade. The best out of all of them is the Honda HR-V because of reliability and really good resale value however the Mazda is better with handling, its faster and has better looks. However, its your choice.

    • @carbrickscity

      +TH-cam Aneesh I would get this too if I ever in the market for a small crossover.

    • @EAS573182
      @EAS573182 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not saying there's literally no competition. I just wouldn't be interested in any of those cars. Hell, I'm not even remotely interested in the CX-3; it just seems like the best out of the bunch to me.

    • @zuhayrali4202

      TH-cam Aneesh
      Well...I mean i love the CX-3 but you also have to consider resale value, reliability, (every current car in Honda's lineup has top safety pick or top safety pick +) so I would say Honda is the better pick..

    I like how the engine/exhaust sound at 5k-7k revs; makes it sound fun to drive and gives some fun aural feedback.
    I drove the GT version and it didn't feel like that firm of a ride to me - rather compliant really but I haven't driven a whole lot lately.

    Appreciate the effort that went into this comprehensive review. A lot of the video reviews on youtube are of the AWD so it's nice to see someone go in depth with the Touring trim. The CX-3 is tops on my short list of replacements for a 2011 MINI Cooper S. I'm very bummed Mazda did not make the 6MT available for the US market like they did for most of the world. Having never owned an AT car, would I be missing anything here?

    Been watching your reviews for a while now, and as to be expected this is yet another excellent informative review. I've just bought (UK range topper) one of these and it arrives in just under three weeks. I'm changing from a Nissan Juke Really loved the drive of the CX3. Can I ask, where is your test drive route? The scenery is amazing! It looks like a very green leafy district :-)

    Despite your luke warm review of the CX-3, I still plan on getting one as soon as possible. I fit into the niche I think this car was intended to fit, and this is a niche vehicle. My 2013 Escape Titanium has performed well for over 3 years but my 120 mile work commute has equated to 107,000 miles. 24-26 mpg is decent for a turbo 4 but I need better, and I still need AWD.
    12 cu-ft and 42 cu ft with the back seats down will work fine for my wife and I, plus dog. The limited back seat room won't have much of a bearing. I think the interior is a better place to be in than the CX-5, if you're up in the front seats. With one caveat being the arm rests and cupholder issues.
    I wish you had been able to test the Grand Touring version as I find the features of that trim to be very numerous for a sub 30k vehicle.
    Keep up the great work as I enjoy your detailed reviews. Btw, your review of the 2013 Escape Titanium (and it's HID headlight vid) was the main reason for that purchase.

      i politely disagree. in the east coast AWD is a must i had a 2013 civic touring with four snow tires and got stuck too often. my gf's awd impreza was fantastic. i don't know just my experience is all.

      Daniel happy haha, yeah some people are pretty harsh, I always rememberer that I am actually typing to an actual person, and theres a good chance that the person is really cool, so yeah I'd rather make a friend than an enemy.
      Anyway it stormed here a few days ago...like i said i went from the civic EX-L touring to the CX-3 AWD and wow what a difference, the AWD is basically sex on wheels lol....it works fantastic. it takes about 1 second for the rear wheels to kick in under hard acceleration, but when they do that little car boots it!! I'm very happy!
      Thanks for the great convo Daniel!!

    Just started looking at these 3's myself I was looking at the CX-5 but I like the looks of this better. Glad to hear there is no CVT I don't like them at all. a 6 speed would be a nice option though. Wish it had the 2.5 but 8.5 to 0-60 isn't bad and besides it's 40-60 is what matters trying to pass get on the interstate, etc. Wish the dash was reversed the IMO, I would want the tach bigger and the speedometer smaller. I was looking at Subaru and we have two of them now GREAT cars but I miss having a Mazda so when my 00 Forester dies IF it dies I'm going to look hard at this little SUV. Would get the 4wd living in the mountains. Great review as always!

    Great review! I looked at both the CX-3 and the CX-5. I appreciated the extra space and power in the CX-5. However, there were just are just so many complaints about the car, plus the three recalls. So now I am now a new CX-3 owner!
    Personally, for me it has ample space for both passengers and cargo. The engine actually gets the job done, and I thought it would be very underpowered. Love the CX-3.

    • @justinguan9459
      @justinguan9459 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely recommend the CX-3! So far for city mpg, I am getting a little less than advertised, but I think it's mostly the way I drive...

    • @xxEPICxxFILMSxx
      @xxEPICxxFILMSxx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Guan I'm stuck between the Mazda 3 Or the CX-3 they both have very nice interiors and seem like great cars but the 3 would have 40 more HP and better mpg.

    • @justinguan9459
      @justinguan9459 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I totally understand, I considered the CX-3, CX-5, and the Mazda3 Hatchback. The CX-5 has had too many complaints and recalls for my liking, so it was most between the CX-3 and the Mazda3. Like you, one of the reasons I was looking at the Mazda3 was the 184 HP..I was worried the CX-3 was going to be too weak. However, so far the CX-3 has exceeded my expectations. In my opinion it isn't underpowered at all. Also, I would like to point out that if you check the specs (at least for the Mazda3 hatchback), there's only a few more inches of rear seat leg room and head room, and a few more cubic feet of cargo space. Many people make it seem like the Mazda3 is miles ahead of the CX-3 in terms of space, but I personally couldn't feel the difference. For me, the CX-3 beat the Mazda3 because of AWD...if you don't need AWD, either car would be fine.

      This CX-3 has a better chance to not get stuck in a thick, puddly flood, and it likely can run over several animals without dragging them down the street stuck in the bumper and under the car!!!!

      +Veyronp87 some people like the higher up suv feel but the hatch size. For instance my Fiance likes it cause is not very big but it feels larger and safer then a 3.

    • @cadsux

      +Veyronp87 I agree. I have owned 3 Mazdas, including a Mazda3 hatchback, and after test driving the a GT trim I thought it was alright. The cabin is a bit noisier and the seats felt narrow like a Nissan 370. Looks like they put the big Mazda5/CX-7 side mirrors on it. Around here in Northern California, the GT trim is priced at over $29,000 which makes you wonder why not just get the Mazda3 instead, unless you really need AWD and an even smaller parking footprint.

    • @madpistol
      @madpistol 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Veyronp87 I was looking at the CX-3 too, but I ended up getting the Mazda3 hatch instead. It really was no-brainer since the Mazda3 is larger, faster, gets better fuel economy, and is actually slightly cheaper for what you get.
      The only reasons to get the CX--3 would be because you like the look of it and because AWD is an option. The Mazda3 does not offer AWD.

    Good looking car but overpriced for a 2.0 liter engine. That model shown
    is $29k and no homelink available for a 2.0 engine. I repeat 2.0 engine.
    I paid $34k for a new toyota highlander xle model with v6 3.5 liter 275
    horsepower which is 135 horses more or almost twice the power. Manual shift +/- are opposite positions compared to other cars. I also have an 8 year old 2008 Scion xB with a 2.4L engine that has more power at 160hp for $17k... that is $10k less than the Mazda.
