Got the game less than a week ago. Have 1500 hrs in PoE over 10 years or so. Rarely watch build guides, always prefer to read them but this video is succinct and is just the right length. It convinced me. My Frost Shaman is 77 now, rinsing through echos at 75 and 90 ones I've tried are just a little bit slower, rather than dangerous. This build is an Excellent build to introduce myself to the game with and I'd recommend it to anyone else starting. I got lucky with a +2 Maelstrom on my chest and just now got a "20% chance to cast Maelstrom every 5 seconds" Idol as well. All the synergy that clicks into place around 50 and then with the skills by 75 coming into their own with constant overlays of damage. It wasn't "easy" levelling up but that taught me the mechanics and mob attacks and frankly, was well worth the wait. As you say in your guide, pun fully intended, it really does snowball once Avalanche is following you about. I did deviate a tad and add the "Clear Aliments" to Warcry and my items aren't all up to scratch yet but there's much more to do that I've not tried yet and this typed waffle is just to say. THANK YOU.
You're welcome and I'm glad it helped you so much. That's great you're expanding and deviating out of it, there's a lot of directions you can go at the endgame with this type of setup. There's been some reworks for Shaman since this video as well and they're all positives as well. Enjoy!
You do a good job providing useful information in the video. You also go hands on and show clips early so people can get a sense of what the build feels like. I hope you keep making guides.
Oh my gosh thank you for this. I came to the same conclusion to go with Shaman with those 4 skills after wanting a cold build. The crow teleport is so cool and I was worried I wouldn't have a movement skill prior to seeing this vid!
Great video and written guide, definitely earned by sub! Hope to see more build guides with leveling point distribution since release is only a month away!
Awesome, thank you! I will definitely continue to make Last Epoch guides. I also cover D4 which had a season release this week, but will be back to Last Epoch in just a couple days for more guides.
In my play thru, Healing winds is so very important to get a bit earlier than suggested in the guide. I became so dependent on healing pots it was ridiculous. I may consider taking more than one point of this skill on the maelstrom skill tree because we lack so much defense.
I’m loving your builds @MinmaxRPG! I’ve not played a cold build yet and just got my Poison Warlock to Empowered Monoliths and was watching your latest video on your Poison Warlock… then this was the next video. ❤️ I may have to start rolling this tonight. I will have to add an interactive ability though, it’s a must for all my characters. I noticed that Gathering Storm can be converted to cold and synagogues with Storm Crows (love their movement ability and it’s the first time I’ve seen this!). What skill would you replace Gathering Storm with, if you had to? I’m thinking Warcry? I just need to hit things I guess. Your builds look so much more fun than other streamers “meta” builds imho. Shows that you’re a gamer and a fun guy. Thanks!!! DarthMicrotransaction is also a fun watch, if you’ve not had chance to see him yet. A real humble gamer keeping gaming fun. If you could help me replace a skill with Gathering storm that would be great! 💥🤗💥 Edit: I’ve managed to get Cleaver Solution axe and Mopheous sword (spelling?) a legendary sword that I can shatter another 2h sword and it accepts the ruins I get back and fixes them onto it. Hope for a good use for this sword or axe. I tried fixing a 21pt exalted sword with perfect stats for my Poison Warlock but I got 3 ruins back!!! THREE!!!! 😡 😂
Glad to hear you also watch DarthMicrotransaction! He's an awesome guy and I actually know him fairly well as we both covered DI for a bit and did some collabs together. He knows me as Lida which was my character's name. Shaman actually got a fairly large update since this video came out during beta. I'd actually swap Maelstrom out for Gathering Storm while leveling. You could change things up at higher level but early on Maelstrom will be a pain to keep casting in order to have high stacks and might be very hard on mana. Warcry especially with the cold version is an awesome defensive ability.
I believe a large portion of the rework is aimed at the passive tree (for the better). I will update that when it's released and thanks for sharing with everyone.
At the moment I don't have a definitive answer for that. I'm pushing this character as far as possible and will make an updated guide for late endgame which will include that.
There was a bug with the Gathering Storm talent a while back where it would proc when you first log into the game and then stop fairly soon after. I'm unsure if it's been fixed yet.
Started leveling this build and was so great until Lagon. Damage and tankiness totally fell off there and I am stuck at this point (keep dying). Any suggestions?
Make sure you're resist capped. Lagon shouldn't be too difficult with this build unless you're missing some of the mechanics. It will be lengthy, but you can drop Storm Totem on the tentacles while you avoid the damage from Lagon. Using Crowstorm to avoid the red eye beam if necessary, as well. I was very close to including that fight as footage for this video but didn't want to spoil it for anyone. The reason I wanted to include it was to show it's more than possible but takes some patience and understanding of the mechanics.

I was very close to including that fight as footage in this video but ultimately left it out to avoid spoilers. It will be a lengthier fight, but you can use the Storm Totem to keep damage on the tentacles while you avoid the incoming damage. Crowstorm is great if needed to avoid the eye beam and when safe you can use your aura damage to increase output. The 2nd phase is very easy with this build.
It is great for campaign and early mapping. The biggest weakness is at tougher bosses that one-shot you with all their abilities. Storm Crow's teleport thing is not that reliable, I switched to Leap for some of the bosses. I got to level 70-75 monoliths and the builds seem to fall off. I am not sure which gear could improve it...

@@MinMaxRPG yay, thanks!
Started as a shaman myself yesterday! Eager to see more of your journey on a shaman
Excited to get back to it. They redid some of the passives, so this is on the list to revisit and update with an endgame version asap.
@@MinMaxRPGI love playing with ice builds in games is this video still viable i started playing yesterday

exactly what i was looking for, ty

Cool gonna try this one out. Got a new subscription
Awesome, enjoy and thank you!
Do you think you'll have a more endgame oriented build guide out for this Shaman before full release? This looks like a ton of fun and great video!
That's the plan! This and a couple others are on my list to make updated higher corruption guides before launch. Glad you enjoyed the video.
FYI, Shaman is getting a pretty sizeable rework for 1.0
I believe a large portion of the rework is aimed at the passive tree (for the better). I will update that when it's released and thanks for sharing with everyone.
Hey, thinking about to make filter for this build?
There should be one included. I will double check it's working and attached properly.
Nope there is none@@MinMaxRPG
Any uniques that would be considered BIS?
At the moment I don't have a definitive answer for that. I'm pushing this character as far as possible and will make an updated guide for late endgame which will include that.
in the video you use legendarys but the build planer says only normal items is that correct?
There are no build defining items so you can use the build without any unique or legendary items.
Is there something bugged with Maelstrom? I had all points into the 25% chance to cast when you kill an enemy and it never worked.

There will be an endgame updated version ?
I transitioned my Shaman to this since there were some skill and passive reworks since the original video: th-cam.com/video/2006QCZlAsY/w-d-xo.html
hey mate, you do leveling guides i invite you to go further and make stronger builds for high corruption, the community will thank it.
Thanks for the input. I plan to show all the leveling builds I've made so far at higher level as well, stay tuned!

Yup, this would still work.
