    This truck is perfect for us light offroaders who mainly use it for home depot runs and camping. Awesome little truck

    Honestly, I want a truck but with this market, I can't justify paying for a mid-size truck that would cost me as much as if I'm buying a full-size truck. And frankly, I don't have much use for a full-size truck. And this right here is calling my name, it's a city truck that is not afraid to go off-road and it won't break the bank. Very nice Ford, you caught my attention. Also, as a side note, it's really unbelievable that this truck has more legroom than the midsize truck segment. 35.9 inches of rear legroom - in Maverick, 34.7 inches of rear legroom - in GMC Canyon/Chevy Colorado 34.5 inches of leg rear leg room in the Ford Ranger, and 32.6 inches of rear legroom inside the Toyota Tacoma.

    One of the best things about this truck and what Ford did with it was keeping the tactile buttons in place, like you said, I don't need to adjust or am even required to use the touch screen for anything in the truck that's major which is a huge safety plus!

    Would be interesting to see this compared with the new Crosstrek Wilderness. About the same price.
    On paper the Subie looks impressive, 4.111 final drive ratio, 3500 lbs towing and 9.3” ground clearance, 20 deg approach and 33 deg departure.
    However, the maverick has the pickup bed, the ecoboost and a real transmission. None of this CVT nonsense.
    If I was in the market I’d be real torn between these two options!

    It's a great alternative to vehicles like most Subarus and smaller Jeeps like the Cherokee/Compass Trailhawk. The Subaru has a better interior and cool wagon body styles but the Subaru CVT is awful (at best its tolerable) and doesn't offer a real locker (yes I know Subie does a decent job with electronic traction aids). The pros over the small Jeeps are no Fiat parts, and that's a huge benefit.

    • @lordrayden3045
      @lordrayden3045 ปีที่แล้ว

      The renegade trailhawk is just fine.
      It’s plenty big on the inside, and if you take care of it it will run forever.

      The great thing is that you can actually buy a lunchbox locker for the Subie. Nobody makes one for the Maverick just yet. And while I don't own one, the Subaru CVTs are quite good now...driven them plenty

    • @ExpeditionPortal
      @ExpeditionPortal  ปีที่แล้ว

      It absolutely needs a 25-30% lower first gear. Low range is always such an important attribute, but for this vehicle, it makes sense not to have it.

      With respect bud, my Tremor has fared pretty great in what I've put it up against, out here in the Smokies and Southern Appalachia.
      Is the Mav some rock crawling machine or heavy duty off-road vehicle? No (and no one claims as much). But thus far, my Tremor has seen me through dry, wet, and muddy conditions on trails and mountain paths, including some fairly steep inclines and declines. I've been even more impressed with it than I first thought I'd be.
      You can absolutely overland a Tremor and, when you're back on the road, still have a vehicle with a satisfying amount of grunt, solid handling, and decent fuel economy.

      I have one on order that I'll pay just under $34k for an XLT + Lux pkg, moonroof, Spray in bed liner, remote start, and engine block heater.
      It is A LOT of vehicle for that price and there isn't a direct competitor. You can get much more truck for $40k or $45k but it likely is coming as a mid size or full size option.

  • @PatrickRich
    @PatrickRich ปีที่แล้ว

    Gaaaah! Not you too Scott! This car has 1 differential (front). Which means it can't lock the center or rear differential... Cause it doesn't have 'em. The dual clutch rdm does do cool stuff, but there isn't a differential in sight behind the front axle.

    • @ExpeditionPortal
      @ExpeditionPortal  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Differential is the correct term. There are multiple types of differentials, some gear driven, and some clutch driven. Ford’s own engineering literature refers to it as such, and even specifically calls it a rear differential lock. Thanks for the feedback.
