    Great review! I have almost the same identical truck even the color, except mine is a Lariat Tremor. I love it! I used to own a F150 but I didn't need such a big truck and wanted something more fuel efficient. I can still haul 4 x 8 sheets in my Maverick and it is perfect for what I need it for, including an occasional drive into the hills for plinking. I was fortunate to get mine locally for msrp. I have had mine since February and I have no complaints. Fun to use and drive. Thanks!

    It’s true a lot of people don’t buy trucks to tow but just use them as family vehicles , I have a 5.7 V8 tundra but I use it as a daily driver and just tow occasionally like 1-5 times a month a car hauler trailer or a RV that weighs 5,000 pounds but it would be nice to have a secondary vehicle like the maverick since the tundra does drink gas like crazy 🤷‍♂️

    I got my XLT Tremor Maverick last month for MSRP at AutoNation Ford in Torrance, CA. They were great. But you are right, many other dealerships had an insane 5-10k markup.

    A little insight on the shifter complaint (because i also absolutely hate that they turn infinitely)
    Ford previously made their rotaty shifters stop, but because the vehicle is able to put itself in Park (like when you leave it in drive and exit the car by accident) the shifter has to have a motor attatched to it and the shifter assembly itself rotated. Unfortunately this meant that if something in that shifter assembly (called the Gear Shift Module) failed, we had many vehicles that would get stuck in gear or in park.
    They changed to the "infinitely spinning GSM" to allow the self-shifting to be able to locate any position it wants without having to turn the actual dial in the event something is not clocked correctly. Basically, they made it more simple but accidentally made it horrible in the process.

    I just purchased my 24’ Maverick Lariat Tremor. I love this thing so far. First weekend of owning it I’ve put over 500miles on it and it’s been down some heavy dirt roads and a bunch of mud. It handled it so well. This thing was a great buy.

    I'm in the market for a truck and honestly, this is all I need from a truck, a truck bed that is going to be used once in a great while, something that it's not a gas jugger, easy to park in the city, a truck that can be sufficient enough when I go camping with the family and its not afraid of going off-road, some trailer towing here and there and something that won't break the bank, and this truck does not come with the douche vibes... LOL

    I like the spinning gear selector 'cause you're mostly either parking or in drive, knowing you can spin it however many times in one way or the other and you'll 'stay' at P or D means you won't have to look down to double check if you accidentally landed in reverse or neutral.

    Maverick owner here.... I was tempted to changed my Mav pre order to the Tremor when I had the opportunity, it does have some cool features. Ultimately I kept my hybrid XLT lux package pre order the way it was originally submitted. I'm glad I did, the hybrid drivetrain makes the pickup feel like a next Gen vehicle. It's so smooth and quiet. I'll never buy a regular gear shifting tranmission vehicle ever again, they feel antiquated after getting a hybrid.

      Some people don’t want a RWD-based 4x4, nor a truck that big.
      Having flipped a RWD truck on an ice patch on otherwise clear roads I prefer AWD. No 4x4 system to turn on and off. When I’m going 80 mph it’s on and running. Can’t do that with 4x4

    • @StephenKI
      @StephenKI 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheModerateMillenial I agree with you. AWD is pretty awesome especially if the company makes a good AWD system like the one in the Ford Maverick Tremor. I currently own a Subaru and traction on less than ideal road conditions has never really been an issue for me. Still waiting on delivery on my Maverick Tremor but I’m going to assume that the AWD system in my new truck is going to be way better than my 11 year old Subaru.

    I think I’d spec mine as an XLT with the FX-4 off road package along with the towing package. The FX-4 has the rear locking diff. I don’t need the off-road tires and having the capacity to tow 4,000 pounds seems like a good trade-off for one inch of ground clearance. Thanks for the review.

      If stupid people would quit using them they would... but they still use them and still keep paying the markup. Now I wont ever buy anything at a markup but other do and will. its just like dealer add ons.. Im looking at Maverick, Ridgeline and Frontier. I eliminated the Santa Cruz because of their pre-issued self exploding DCT issue(they still havent fixed either BTW). But I saw a place on TH-cam trying to sell a Ridgeline sport for 48K+
      The guy in the video(this is a dealership video from the looks of it) then tries to justify a 5K+ makrup of purely dealer installed stuff which consisted of.. All weather floor mats, Tinted windows, Mud Flaps, and their spray on(i think) paint protection they call something like paint Butler or some such...
      supposedly that justified the extra 5K cost.. I priced them out locally here(all but the paint thing as I dont know exactly what that is) I used weather tech.. I think most people would agree thats at least as good as the stuff the dealerships/vehicle companies supply(i will say my dealership threw in the all weather mats as part of the deal and included the trunk/hatch floor liner(Subaru Forester) ) but I added all that up and came out with rounding UP BTW to the nearest 10 dollar point.. at $740 (Floor mats front and back, mud flaps,tinted windows) so that paint protector is at least a whopping 4K or their markup on all the other stuff was x3 more than it should be..
      My point was these unscrupulous dealerships will only learn when people quit using them to get cars and quit paying for addons because they didn't bother to do any research on what it SHOULD cost. Or how much they could save getting better stuff elsewhere and using 10 minutes of their time to drop them in..

    • @garyjarvis2730
      @garyjarvis2730 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree but the industry has really put many people in a very unpleasant situation by not policing the bad behavior of greedy dealers. People do not buy cars every day and are not expert negotiators - the dealers are. The only effective way to stop the nonsense in the moment is to drop the I'm going to be polite and slip right into pit bull mode. They don't like it, but do it when the showroom is crowded and it always wakes up a stupid salesperson. Nice simply doesn't cut it with the "stealership" and quite honestly many of them don't deserve the respect anyhow. Pretty crappy that it has to be this way but the war zone was not created by the buyer. Lastly do not be afraid to stand up and walk out when a salesperson is in mid sentence - don't look back, just walk.

      After living with it for a few months I actually love it. So effortless to change gear with a small flick of the wrist. Seeing a big gear selector in a vehicle seems antiquated to me now. It takes up so much room in the center when the little gear dial barely takes up any.

      yup its not the engine or transmission that they lower the rate for its the tires, struts, springs, sits higher by a inch i believe.. maverick isnt the only "off roader" that lowers a standard models towing. most things that include a lift makes them put a lower rating for towing on it. I dont even know if they tested it or if they just said lets slap a 2K rating on it just to be sure lol..

    I've got a 5.0 F150 and I can tell you now that downsizing to the Maverick Tremor is definitely an idea that's crossed my mind. I cannot justify the price though. For the package I would buy this little "affordable" "truck" comes out to $50,000CAD MSRP! In 2018 I could have gotten a new "last year" 2017 5.0 F150 for $40,000. The automotive industry is in shambles and the companies are all too dense to realize that dropping the price back would kickstart their market again.

    That fact that the gear selector knob can spin freely is strange, and that would annoy me as well. I had the same gear selector in a Fusion, and it would not spin clockwise past drive or spin counter-clockwise past park. So it's not like Ford hasn't done this. So why did they make a conscious decision to do this? Weird. Probably cost cutting.

    Maverick FX4 with 2 inch lift is a better offroader in many peoples opinion since it offers more clearance and better approach angle once you remove the airdam skirt but getting this tremor stock is great, since it has rear locking differential which fx4 doesnt have.

      What's the benefit of it being rear wheel drive instead of all? 🤔

    • @beauxr.benoit1374
      @beauxr.benoit1374 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motorbiscuit A Rear-Wheel-Drive based All-Wheel-Drive truck instead of what this is, a Front-Wheel-Drive based All-Wheel-Drive Minivan has a lot of advantages. FWD has a few structural problems due to the way it is designed and built. A RWD truck has a solid frame under the engine, which the FWD car doesn't and is one of those structural issues. FWD has a weight and horse power limit on them, a RWD truck doesn't with drivetrain upgrades. You can drive a RWD truck anywhere depending on it's, again drive train rating. Even if you have a lift kit on it, (This is a shot at the BS Ford Bronco Sport.) you will break it in anything deeper than a foot deep dry ditch. Then there is the lifetime of both. You can use the truck to it's fullest abilities and and never worry about it as long as you maintain it as necessary. The other one will fall apart and kill itself mechanically if you don't baby and do nothing more strenuous with it than going to the grocery store. And after a long time of using the truck, it can be rebuilt and you can repeat what with originally did with it. Once the FWD car is broken, it is finished. This is just off the top of my head. If I am going to buy a truck, I am going to buy a real truck. The Ford Maverick is a Minivan, and you have been warned.

    • @motorbiscuit
      @motorbiscuit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regardless of this being a front-wheel drive platform. It IS an all-wheel drive transfer case vehicle with a locking rear diff and a 50/50 lock.
      Your beliefs, unfortunately, do not outweigh facts! There are plenty of off-roading videos with the Maverick Tremor that prove your ditch theory incorrect! All a body-on-frame truck this size does in the modern era is add unnecessary weight.
