    Friendly advice, instead of playing the annoying computer game music, why don't you actually explain with words exactly what you're doing.

    Good video, shame about the pixelating, though. I took my Smeg TSF01SSAU apart this evening assuming it could be fixed with a new element and that tomorrow I’d set about obtaining one….. Some observations:
    (1) on the bottom of the toaster, very inconspicuously, it says “Made in PRC”;
    (2) in my humble opinion this toaster does NOT look like it is made to be repaired. Hats off to Disuse Reuse for this repair. However, it would seem that repair/ replacement of an inside element would be extremely complex and even if one could buy an element it would be impractical/unaffordable.
    I recall watching my father repair a pop up toaster in the 1960’s. Screws, yes lots of them, but no flimsy bend over or twist tabs. Clearly designed to be repaired. My replacement toaster will either be designed to be repaired, very much cheaper, or both. I doubt it will be a Smeg!

    One piece of advice on the video bud. That pixel effect is annoying and detracts from a good video!

      Thank you David, we are new to TH-cam and we were using a different video editing software for this one and it was glitching. There was no way we could fix it. We upgraded the software to a different one and since this video we have changed cameras and now currently doing live streaming videos where there is not much need for editing. It's a learning process and we are not pro's at it just yet lol. Thank you for the encouragement to upgrade if you have any tech advice you may email it directly to us and we will look over it as to how we may improve.

    why would you buy a smeg if you can buy a Sunbeam automatic chrome toaster that still works from the 1950s?

    Hi! Thanks for the helpful video. I need to do exactly what you did but to the middle elements, but I am not sure how to reach it without taking everything apart. Any advice is much appreciated. 🙏🏽

    I was able to open the toaster, clean the magents & try again. The middle element is heating, the outside ones don’t. Any idea how to move on?

    Hello readers,
    Here is the link for the exact toaster that is mentioned here that was worked on. I do many repairs and work very long hours up to 5AM most nights so yes things do get confusing from time to time however I'm honest when it comes to replacing the parts and this is one of the reasons we are making a youtube page to show the job for people that want the details. In our busy schedule things get overlooked and we forget to send links out for people BUT nothing is hiding our links can be found on youtube if you take the time to look for it or if a reminder is send most likely we will will provide it, I can't remember to do everything without some help along the way:) As for unsatisfied customers or jobs that break again we provide a 30 day warranty and partial refund policy and this is the case here we gave a refund but not full refund as we have to value our time and make some money to keep the business running. Had the customer gave more time I may have provided a new part or complete new toaster from the SMEG company as I was currently in the process dealing with the head office and it looked like things were going well up until I decided to call the customer with my "good news update" then things took a turn as you all can see. It's unrealistic to even think that you can get a new element replaced in a SMEG Toaster for only $80 because they sell for over $200.00
    TH-cam Update:
    Of course we have to stand up for our side of what happened because we are running a reputable business and don't want people to think otherwise. My repair job did last for around 30days as stated in the other letter by the customer and even if it was past our warranty period we would have helped to resolve the problem. Many people are going threw a difficult time right now in year of 2020 it's important that we help each other and lift up one and other rather then to do the opposite. I'm going to re-post this on TH-cam page below the video so others can have their say in if we did the right thing or not or how they would have done things any differently? Sometimes for all my hard work and late hours I put in I think I should not even try to fix some projects because people don't appreciate the extra efforts I put in so they can keep their appliances working and help reduce the land fills in the process.
    Thanks for reading and have a good day everyone.

    The main dial LED went out (the other 2 still illuminate). Any ideas on this?

    • @disusereuse_ApplianceHealer
      @disusereuse_ApplianceHealer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might be a bad LED but that's rare, more likely something on the circuit board had shorted out or open circuit. If it still makes toast then I'd just use it as is but if not then it might need to be fixed or replaced. Thanks for the comments.

    I bought a used Smeg toaster on ebay to fix the magnet but can't get the bottom cover off - what exactly is keeping it on?

    • @disusereuse_ApplianceHealer
      @disusereuse_ApplianceHealer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well more than likely you may be overlooking some screws, sometimes they are covered up with something. Aside from that when the magnet is no longer holding down it's a broken heater element somewhere and not the "elector-magnet". Take a flashlight and look inside after you unplug it from the wall, see if you can find a broken element? You can splice it back together if that is the problem look on other youtube ch for how to do that as we don't have a good video on that right now.

    • @gemselector6862
      @gemselector6862 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bit late but there are slots in between the screws that you need to unclip with a flat head screw driver. Just push towards the outside of the toaster and lift up.
