Wow! What a cool project. Really like how you used the off-cut from one side of the heart as a template for the other side. Experienced wood workers probably already knew that trick, but I didn't. Thanks for posting.
Very beautiful To make this work look easy I'll wait for the new in your channel And I enjoy watching it Thank you Best wishes for your channel more success
Great build Jimmy as always, but I wonder about the use of crushed velvet for the liner - I had been told that it was a bad choice as sometimes it can have a chemical effect on silver in particular but other softer metals too.
oh lm am soo pleased to have found your channel what an awesome Valentines gift that could be !! you have a life time subscriber here ! thanks for sharing.
You know in the end where u have the cut out scrap of wood shape like a heart? U could put a hinge on it and use it like a display case for the heart box.
I just had a neat idea, imagine this. Take the cut out negatives, carve out a small nook on one side and hinge the top or bottom. Hinge and clasp the box so the clasp fits into the nook in the negative. Put the box in the negative and close it up. So you have to open up the negative kinda like a flower then un-clasp the box and open the lid up. So it opens up in three ways! I hope i explained that correctly. So on the desk or counter or whatever it highlights the fact its a bandsaw box. Kinda like each time you open it your re-making it, or exposing the box that was inside the wood all along.
this is a amazing project that I'm going to do for my mother and this is a great video showing u how to do it but how come u did not use a scroll saw to cut the inside of the heart
Scroll saw with a thick piece of wood like that doesn't usually work too well, plus with the whole heart-shaped waste piece from the middle (you'd want to drill it to fit in a scroll blade), he sliced off a piece to glue to the lid, to retain it.
What finish did you use? wax etc. i went through the comments to see if anyone else had asked but i cant find it. I have used wood wax before, but the strong smell lingers for days. Maybe its the brand or the high humidity in my country, if that even makes sense.
I am confused by a few things. At 1:10, why is there a cut in, when he could have drilled a hole, and used a smaller blade to cut out the inside? Doesn't cutting it in and re-gluing it make that part smaller? What was the purpose of not using a router to round over the edges? Maybe this is a "how to build a Heart Shaped Box using only a band saw" video? Don't get me wrong, I love DiResta's videos, I am just confused over those two things.
hey, i am going to a wedding and i thought i could make this fore my aunt ( the bride). Does anyone in the comments have any tips for new people in wood working or any exact measurements. i think might just have to eyeball it. Thanks to anyone that can help :)
I just used the word "adorable" when I saw the mini old-style wooden clamps. I can't believe I said that. Your brother John would call me a douche bag LOL. Nice video -- again. I learned a lot. Be well. -Nick
I understand that you were probably going for speed when you were building this container (which looks great btw!) but when cutting out the inside of the box, did you at all think of using the CNC machine so that it would be all one piece of wood in the end?
Thank you Jimmy, I am forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Im proud to say I was the recipient of this lovely box with locket necklace. I will always cherish this..thank you uncle Jimmy.😘
You're clearly the bandsaw master.... another awesome build
What a sweet thing. The box is just as awesome as the gift that goes in it... if not more so. Lucky girl! All the best Jimmy D!
In a 100 years time people will pay millions for a DiResta original.
beautiful!!!! I loved! And the wax finish brings out the beauty of wood.
Wow! What a cool project. Really like how you used the off-cut from one side of the heart as a template for the other side. Experienced wood workers probably already knew that trick, but I didn't. Thanks for posting.

I made my wife a stick. She didn't like it. I have the welt to prove it.
Another nice project. I loved the transformation upon waxing. Also, I am glad you are finding even more use for that party dress.
Absolutely beautiful Mr. D. As always... you truly set the bar higher and higher each time.

Great build Jimmy as always, but I wonder about the use of crushed velvet for the liner - I had been told that it was a bad choice as sometimes it can have a chemical effect on silver in particular but other softer metals too.

Beautiful box! In next videos, could you tell us the wood that you use?
all I could think about while watching this. is the Nirvana song Heart shaped box.
+steven carter Ah thats what it was! When i clicked on the video, i kept thinking, "isn't there a song by that name?"
Wasnt his song Heart Shaped Glasses though?
wow.... great jimmy very good job ciao
that's really nice. and no power sanding. wow!
That's smooth. Nice work
Amazing! It got beautiful!
Nice! Curious to know why you use epoxy as opposed to wood glue.
Really awesome!
Woah, I did not expect that colour to come out of that block of wood!
Made it and gave it to my wife. Said she loved it. thanks!
And now i can't stop thinking of Nirvana.. Damn it.

That turned out rather good. The wax really brought out the grain.
Nice one. Is the black card stock that the cloth got wrapped around?
What finish did you use? wax etc. i went through the comments to see if anyone else had asked but i cant find it. I have used wood wax before, but the strong smell lingers for days. Maybe its the brand or the high humidity in my country, if that even makes sense.
the most sanding I've ever seen Jimmy do
Hey, wait, your work is amazing, guy.
Another amazing one!! Turned out so nice!!
Jimmy, excellent work as always, what brand of rasps are those?
Fantastic
Love keeping the original blank to contrast the before and after.
Beautiful !!
lovely wood

+SATAN! HAIL SATAN!
Makes perfect sense to me. :)
Homeboy that's awesome... That lovely "tilt back" with the pencil whilst wiping the saw... What can be said?
what kind of wood is that? just made an attempt at this as a novice, thank you for the video
Ive said it before and i'll say it again. That man is a wizard with a bandsaw
i love this dude
hey, i am going to a wedding and i thought i could make this fore my aunt ( the bride). Does anyone in the comments have any tips for new people in wood working or any exact measurements. i think might just have to eyeball it. Thanks to anyone that can help :)
The Catch-22 if you can is I need to have it before 2 days before Christmas
Nice work as always
Carving with a bandsaw?
this guy is so epic
What is he using for the closing mechanism , what material is that, plain ol' wood?
Nice! ^^ I would try making one for myself for valentine's
i love how the fat forward slow motion makes it look like an old Wallace and Grommet claymation
At some point in every video I think: yep he ruined it. Then all of a sudden it's beautiful. Nice work.
HEY, WAIT! I GOT A NEW COMPLAINT, I'm forget in debt to your priceless advice.
I like how this project turned out, I just had one question though, what kind of rasp are you using at around 4:30 to shape the box?
I believe it's a Shinto saw rasp
Personally I don't like it. But it does have its uses.
I just used the word "adorable" when I saw the mini old-style wooden clamps. I can't believe I said that. Your brother John would call me a douche bag LOL. Nice video -- again. I learned a lot. Be well. -Nick

The mistake I did make was the bottom should Have been cut from the inner hart like the under lid part.
I would have avoided the line a the bottom
+jimmydiresta why didnt you stamp yojr mark in it?
the guy that paints his name even in his cereal boxes wont do it on this piece of art??
+don trump it's for someone he loves so if they break up she can keep it and not be reminded of him
Xantho Poulos
sure... because theres so many products massed produced that she will never remember who created it...
as logical as a feminist
Te amamos desde México 😊😊😊
Nice! What kind of wood was that?
what is the name of the file you're using. I haven't seen it on Lee valleys website and would really like one.
Dammit, still no bandsaw on this side of the screen... need to buy one.
Me too!
+Markus Hoffmann I went and brought one a few weeks back and it's all Jimmy's fault.
+Richard Timms ditto and ditto.
Did you get one yet?
pretty cool!
LOVE!
