I have the original Paradym triple diamond and love the look. Like the look of Smoke but agree with James that I wish they would not have put Smoke graphic where it is visible
Got fitted for a new driver this morning. Went in with an open mind to change from my Cobra LTDx. Got fitted into a Paradym AImSmoke Triple Diamond. Gained 52 yds!!!! Mainly because of reducing 2,000rpm of backspin and gaining 8 mph of swing speed. I was shocked that the triple diamond was the best for me but it was crazy. Can’t wait to get it!!!
In the last week I baught a used paradym, taking advantage of the price drop in anticipation of these coming out. I genuinely believe, that year on year the benefit to be had by upgrading is minimal to nothing, which is why I didn't wait another week for this driver, but my previous driver was a Nike Covert 2.0 Tour, which is now a decade old, and the distance (for me, a high handicapper) is honestly negligible, but is a lot more forgiving on off centre strikes
I think that makes sense. Across the reviews there seems to be a few yards more for the faster players and a little bit tighter dispersion for off centres but nothing huge. YoY there is rarely any real reason to upgrade, every x number of years makes sense.
I got fitted into a Paradym about 8 months ago. First time being fitted for a driver. It was a massive improvement over my PXG Craigslist find I was playing. As a 14HC, I cant imagine the AI Smoke will give me any significant gains. At the price of drivers today, pretty sure I'll be gaming my current Paradym for the next 5 years at least.
I’ve been a cyclist for years and the amount of marketing BS that comes out each year with new models is crazy and mostly untrue. Looks like it’s the same in golf.
There is definitely an element of that, I’m sure there are changes but very subtle while the marketing is ridiculous BS to try and sell the product. The real problem is the pricing, you can get the same performance from half the price if not even less. These brands should really start coming under fire for blowing up the price based on name only.
@@paultaylor5502 it’s a hobby though isn’t it like most other hobbies, it’s really whatever you are into and brings you joy, some people spend thousands on cameras, some thousands on video games. The reality is most of us are probably not good enough to take advantage of the clubs we already have in the bag but if we enjoy them who cares. I still think reviewers should provide some backlash on prices though, however with that said what professional sport does not have expensive products that the pros choose to use. They spend as much if not more on snooker cues, tennis rackets etc. so I guess we got the pro’s to thank for the price and minor innovations every year.
I get your point here but I also don’t. Nobody makes anyone buy anything. And the reason why a market works is because of its customers. So just because maybe you don’t like the marketing doesn’t mean millions more do? Just let people be happy and do what they want?

I guess what I’m saying is it’s one of the more difficult sports to get into for youngsters, it’s not grabbing a football and going for a kick about in the park you have to invest into it and it’s not just the clubs but really across the board expensive, being a member of a course is often extortionate so it’s reserved only for the very serious who have that free expenditure and then ofcourse there is the cost of everything else. I mean… I’m here because I’ve spent my money, I have the gear (and no idea mind lol) so I enjoy it and I can make a case for spending the money on the nicer things but I do feel like manufacturers are pushing the prices higher and higher with little to no innovation year on year which is why there is 20 yards gain in 20 years and a slicer still slices. If you've got the cash to change your driver at every new release go for it. However even as a low handicap golfer I'm not good enough to notice the difference. Trust your local pro, get a fitting and leave it at that.
Love the new look. I wouldn’t be jumping yet. Wait and see what the other brands release. Hard to beat 2023 drivers. Nice review James, did you not put the Titleist in the bag after the club fitting
I bought the new AI Smoke Max. Absolutely love it. Shaft is 10g heavier than my last driver but ball speed and swing speed are up. Also love the feel of the AI Smoke. I tried the new Taylormade Q10 because I’ve always been a fan but just couldn’t generate the numbers with it that I did with the Calloway
Hey James, the look is truly sick! It is hands down the best looking driver from Callaway. I too bought the Callaway Paradym TD and thought it was the sexiest driver, however, I absolutely love the color scheme of the new AI Smoke even more!!! Thank you again for starting the New Year with a great review of the new driver.
Great video James... Just got fitted for one and I am super excited for it to arrive. I couldn't hit a poor shot (20+ shots) with it and tbh with the 10.5 loft and the Ventus Blue with Velo I was hitting bombs 25+ yards longer than my current Driver... Which I never thought I would recapture since I've lost some swing speed... Brilliant work by Callaway...
If they've improved the sound then they've got a definite winner. I switched to the Titleist driver because I loved the sound/feel way better. Not sure if my drives were much better but the look at address and the sound are big things I look for in a driver outside of just the results of course.
I love you videos, but something doesn't add up here @ 12:00 your sim says 123.8 clubhead speed, and 166.2 mph ball speed. That is a smash factor of 1.34.. That ball speed is WAYYY too low for that clubhead speed. @ 12:38 you say that that ball speed is very impressive. What am I missing here?
The A.i. Smoke logo on the top side of the club there doesn't bother me one bit. I actually like the log there; I think it makes it look sweet. Callaway has done it again and I truly believe they have made the best clubs they have ever made! Drivers, Woods, Hybrids, Irons etc are rock solid and I be they will beat our every club maker this year. They are clearing at the top of the pack when it comes to golf clubs, no doubt about it!
IMO the reason the writing Ai smoke is on the clubhead is when the owner is on the tee the other 3 players will see they've upgraded & then he knows he can talk about it.
It seems like this year is more like tweaks to previous models, just like James said in an earlier video, for all brands. Noticed the lack of jailbreak tech and enhancement on off center strikes. I wonder if my old mavrik sub zero weights will work with triple diamond.
I’m lucky enough to have saved since last summer ended for a new driver. I got fitted today and it was the Ai max D. Holy smokes does it impress. Flys off the face and the new face tech truly does what they say it does.
This is a nice driver, but I like the looks of the Paradym better. That blue is super cool. When I was fitted it came down to Paradym X and TSR1. TSR1 was a little further and better dispersion. I'd like to see how the Ai Smoke stands up to TSR. Most videos I've seen where Paradym was compared to TSR, TSR ended up 'winning' whatever that means. I haven't seen any Ai Smoke videos beat the TSR numbers vs Paradym. A head to head will be good to see.
Issue I've seen is the triple diamond takes off too much spin/launch for better players so unless you're absolutely nuking it off the middle it's a problem
I been gaming the original paradym the last year plus, and have been very pleased…and just bought an AI smoke max head in response to many reviews stating that there is some gains as far as forgiveness and ball speed…but I have to be honest, the AI smoke is much more pleasing to the eye imo and since I got fitted for the paradym in a custom shaft, and I got a great deal on a head in the AI Smoke…I am very intrigued to get to testing the differences! I want the AI smoke to be just as good or better because if it isn’t, I have no problem going back to the ole ugly navy and gold. Let the testing begin
I wonder if the Ai Smoke Max would be better for me? I have the paradigm triple diamond now. I hit it OK but sometimes it goes pretty far right on me. I don’t really think that Max would be the best. I think I’m just leaving the open a little too much. It goes right I like your video. Maybe you can do it on the max next.
Also, I might be in the minority here, but I think the original Paradym looks much better. Top is cleaner and the smokey/misty bottom with those fluted wing things on the new one looks pretty goofy to me.
I don't usually pay much attention to what the face of a driver looks like, other than to see where on the face that I hit a ball. The face of this new driver looks very cool and modern to me. The tiny branding on the top doesn't bother me at all. On the other hand, the cover is completely overdone with three large "Smoke" logos. Calaway is certainly proud of that name. I agree that white is not a very good choice for the color.
Lets face it 1m or 1 mph faster are not statistically outside of natural margins, plus the mental factor of here i have the new one and body can tweek out 1-2 mph just on that, be fairly big saving on the 2023 paradyn, anyone playing the 2023 model would be wasting money buying into the 2024 model, great clubs are are taylormade, ping, cobra etc, test them all and like you say, don’t rush into parting with over £500 😊 and i can almost gaurantee that the max will work better for your average golfer, 90% in other words, a little easier to get the ball hanging in the air for better carry.
Its £499 for a start so cheaper than last years and Im sure Callaway never said they wanted to make it more affordable, its a buisiness they want more profit surely you understand that? Go to 2nd hand sites if you want to spend less.

@@JamesRobinsonGolf I ordered the triple diamond yesterday directly on the phone with a Callaway representative and I inquired about a triple diamond Max that I saw pictures of and he told me that that model might have been only available for the pros to test out. He could not bring it up as a model that was available for sale so he said it probably didn’t get enough attention with the pros so they might have scrapped the idea of a triple diamond max. That’s why I haven’t seen it mentioned anymore on any websites.Can’t wait to get mine I enjoyed your review Thanks
@@JamesRobinsonGolf I recently ordered my triple diamond direct from Callaway and I inquired about the triple diamond max and he informed me that it probably was one model that the R&D dept was working with tour pros but apparently it didn’t catch on so according to him the triple diamond max was not being offered for sale to the public so that’s the latest update on any other versions of the Ai smoke triple diamond.
And on another note, it’s not to far in the near distant future these category of drivers will all be $1000.00…. Ha!!! I guess we’ll all need em for the roll back golf balls!

I just don’t know how these manufacturers think someone can just upgrade to latest and greatest every year basically! Hard for me to believe that in one year they have topped the previous iteration! How good do I have to be to benefit from the triple diamond instead of the Max? I'm a 6 handicap and hit around 270 yards

I did too. The Titleist was just better looking at address and the sound/feel is awesome compared to the Callaway.

Just Upgraded my driver from Epic Speed to Ai Smoke and Wow! Gained 30+ yrds with better consistency.

Come on brother, it's a 2024 driver you've been able to do that for 10 plus years now, ofcourse you can. Same sleeve as every other callaway driver.

I've broken 3 Callaway drivers. The Razr was still the best for me. Currently on a Big Bertha and its broken as well, good review!

I very much doubt that anyone will upgrade from last years model, but maybe with the tweaks, people may go for the Smoke range.

Paradym X and TSR2 are my absolute favs from last year. Qi10 MAX blew me away this year; ended up purchasing that to replace my R9 🙈
My understanding is the Ai created it to have multiple sweet spots, so to speak.
cobra LTDx did the variable face (multiple sweet spots)

Who are these drivers aimed at? Most golfers, I've witnessed, can't get the ball airborne, or over 200 yards. Let a lone in to the fairway!
After TM had the smoke line of putters years ago they should have come up with a different name. Why not call the next iteration the Stealth?

@@JamesRobinsonGolf I ordered the triple diamond yesterday directly on the phone with a Callaway representative and I inquired about a triple diamond Max that I saw pictures of and he told me that that model might have been only available for the pros to test out. He could not bring it up as a model that was available for sale so he said it probably didn’t get enough attention with the pros so they might have scrapped the idea of a triple diamond max. That’s why I haven’t seen it mentioned anymore on any websites.Can’t wait to get mine I enjoyed your review Thanks
@@JamesRobinsonGolf I recently ordered my triple diamond direct from Callaway and I inquired about the triple diamond max and he informed me that it probably was one model that the R&D dept was working with tour pros but apparently it didn’t catch on so according to him the triple diamond max was not being offered for sale to the public so that’s the latest update on any other versions of the Ai smoke triple diamond.
And on another note, it’s not to far in the near distant future these category of drivers will all be $1000.00…. Ha!!! I guess we’ll all need em for the roll back golf balls!

I’m listening to this via cell phone. But it does not have that metallic tank to it when you hit the ball it sounds like a muffled thud… Maybe it’s just me hearing it over a cell phone… IDK
