Pre ordered Hp reverb G2 so hard pass for me, i do simulation racing but its nice for people who doesnt have a gaming pc :) Oculus quest had the worst foam pad for the front i have ever felt on a VR headset. Hope they improvised it. it was hard as fuck.

if sidequest still works this is probably the headset I'm gonna go for since wireless is a very important feature for me. Wifi 6 also helps a lot with lag and data transfer, so it should work even better than the quest 1. The room my pc is in doesnt have enough space for VR so Reverb G2 would have been a pain
I think the original leaker confirmed it's 3 settings, which would make sense if you really want VR to take off. (and yes, that is the "2" switch you see between the eyes on the pics)
I just wonder how the video compression (oculus Link) will be in high resolution. If it's good, I could buy one with less storage possible (even without internal storage) to use with my pc.
lenses look exactly like the OG quest. Not a big deal, but the renders looked like they were going to be different/new; It would of been nice... Edit : After looking at my quest! These lenses do look bigger and therefore higher FOV. Fingers crossed; Even a couple extra degrees would be welcome :) The Facial interface looks revamped. The forehead is more padded, materials look softer, and maybe even hook/loop attached to a plastic gasket.
Sold my original Quest around 2 months after release but i will definitely get this one. Biggest issues for me were comfort and general ergonomics, resolution also got a little annoying and varied so much between games. This seems to be almost PC VR in a headset, the snapdragon XR2 is a very good chip, definitely looking forward to seeing more of this.
yeah, the experience with the Quest is awesome, but the comfort level (or lack thereof) was brutal. It is a painful headset to use. Can't wait to buy the Quest 2, I'll give the original Quest to my nephew..
The comfort is brutal but once you put weight on the back and buy $10 aliexpress foam padding it become the most comfortable headset ever. yes I owned psvr before and shit makes me headache for 15 minutes

Tyriel thanks for bundling all the promo videos together. This is very exciting! The leaks were accurate and the use of the XR2 chip and incorporating higher resolution panels just fantastic. If the leaked prices are also accurate (299 for 64k, and 399 for 256k) this will usher in a new era, people will talk to friends and family and this device will sell off the shelves quickly. They also said that the lenses were glass at 7:27, but I'd say that's probably just more of the same false advertising that we've come to expect from Facebook.
I've sold my Quest couple of months ago but i think that ill buy the new one for improved visuals in games :). I hope that link cable is not a streaming but native.
@Alonso Reyes That is incorrect. Currently, the OG Quest has a very low amount of bandwidth to use for the link cable which requires a massive amount of compression. The Quest 2 will have exponentially more bandwidth that will allow the Link image quality as well as latency to be FAR better.
@Alonso Reyes you said "cable link" hasn't changed. Well, if you say cable link that is referring to the hardware of the quest as well as the cable. Given what you said my comment stands. Clearly, the link cable isn't changing since the official cable is fiberoptic and one of the fastest cables you can buy at the moment. The hardware in quest 2 will allow a much faster data transfer rate with lower latency being a side-effect of the increased bandwidth.

I think the Reverb G2 is in trouble..... I doubt that the Quest 2 is going to cost $399 with that specs. The Lynx-R1 is going to cost $1,500(enterprise) with the XR2 chip inside. We'll see this Wednesday.....
Just when I was almost about kinda sure that the Reverb G2 would be my first VR headset this one gets announced. Now I'm back in undecided land. It's not fair.
If you ever plan to use vr without cables and want to play in other rooms than your pc, get the quest 2. Especially if your computer isn't strong enough. Plus you get hand tracking. I believe quest trumps the g2, it's just way more versatile especially if it turns out to be so cheap (and i haven't even mentioned exclusives)
I owned a CV1 for like 2+ years now and havent touched it in a while, hell even the Go is clearer, for clarity alone its worth it, the controllers track fine when you go back apparently.
I've owned all oculus headsets at one point, and imo CV1 controllers were best by far far everything else not including audio, the rift s and quest was better, with the new controllers tho, the new quest looks hella cute
I love that it has XR2, but I wish it had a way to plug into a DP port in a PC GPU so PC can take over and supercharge it, the fact I cant plug it into GPU and run flight sim 2020 on highest graphics with a new rtx3080 means I might still buy a Reverb G2
@Alonso Reyes No Reverb G2 has 2160 x 2160 LCD panels per eye and full RGB stripe. With a total of 9.3 million pixels for both eyes...you don't reach 4k resolution per eye (8mpX2)....You've to wait mini led for that ...And very, very powerful GPU...Not only a 3080, if you want really nice game in a 2x4K at 90hz at least....
I’m saying I want both, unplugged which is a huge bonus over the Reverb and the xr2 chip looks like it’s going to be great, but then I want to plug the quest 2 into my gpu and supercharge it.....best of both worlds but neither headset seems to have that option, plugging a quest 2 into a USB ain’t supercharging it

I’m a little nervous for the head strap, sure it’s more comfortable and flexible but I’ve used those 10 dollar phone headsets and those things tend to fall off, maybe because this is a company that is ACTUALLY doing a good vr headset, maybe they know how to prevent the strap from slipping off your head.
I just hope more VR headset options appear. Because atm we can only choose the index as the most reliable choice so far (although even it has its own hardware issues). The HTC company is down to shit so that's out of the question. You can only get the HTC original Vive used . occulus isn't even worth it since you have to log in though a FB account (old devices will have to do this a few years later). I get that production overall has been low due to the pandemic but still. I'll probably just get an index.

This. I estimate my data at around 10k USD. I know not much but I don't have much data. Based on this, Facebook would need to hand me headset and around 9500 dollars in cash, then we may have a deal.
Yeah. They're selling your data for advertisements. No one will admit it, but the marketing industry knows how to make people buy stuff. Buying this headset for 400$ is just the beginning of the money you'll spend. I would say that it's not worth it at all.

I'll sure there'll be more improvements like sensors refreshrate, data rate transfer from the sensors, and if as they said it'll be 2× more performing than the snapdragon 835 it'll run games a bit better. Going from 1400×1600 > almost 1080p (if i can remember well) will not draw 50% of the XR2 perf but more like 15-25% i'd say.
I bought mine about two months ago and have amassed about 25 different titles for it. As long as all that money I invested transfers over seamlessly, which I'm of course sure it will, I have no problem investing in this one. already pre-ordered at best buy! Plus I do like my white coloured electronic devices. This will go nice right next to my PS5 in November

Google also doesn't force me to use my real name whereas facebook is actively banning people who don't use their real name. Facebook has also been performing unethical experiments on their users and they've been guilty of violating many privacy laws. Google has their own advertising services and they're abusing their power as well, but I don't think they sell as much data. That said, I complain more than enough about Google's data mining as well which is also why I use adblocker. I don't like Apple's closed ecosystem, but my next phone might be an Iphone purely for privacy and security reasons. The main problem with Facebook is that they disrespect any kind of privacy to such a degree that it is just unacceptable whereas Google isn't that bad.

@Noah Is Canned Bread Doesn't work - they check whether the name of the FB account matches with your credit card data. If you fake it, they will lock it until you provide govt issued ID to them. And if your account is locked, you don't play. It is a trojan horse, albeit a pretty good one.

@Han Lockhart My thoughts exactly! The day they announced the Facebook login, I was done with Oculus. People just have no idea where this will lead and I don't want to be part of it.
Another video says 50% increase in pixels over the original 2880x1600 which I estimate will be 3200x2160 that's huge. Even the Valve Index and Samsung Odyssey + are lower and they are tethered headsets. Why would they use such a high resolution. Could it be an increase in ppi?
OMG... how many MONTHS will it take to buy one?? I know they want to roll them out soon-ish, but with the backlog of orders for VR headsets stretching into months, most of us won't see one of these things until next year.
So anyone use a quest before? What is the range of movements you can do with outwards tracking? Would it lose my hands if i for example reach for a gun on my back?

90hz refresh rate at the least. A Bloomberg news article in May confirmed a 90hz refresh rate with an optional 120hz. Especially because of the XR2 chip, this headset can handle 90hz no problem.
I've had my Oculus Quest version 1 for over a year and I'm very happy with it. For me it's not worth upgrading to Quest 2. I'll wait for the next Quest 3 in a few years time.

I hope they greatly improved comfort cause the quest 1 was really uncomfortable after 1h. I could wear the rift s for 5 h without any problems.

Turned out Zuckerberg decided not to sell the Quest 2 in my country because of legal issues with the facebook registration requirement.

Sold my CV1 for the Quest few months back. The resolution is better + wireless PCVR + lack of support for spares and cable for the CV1
I love that it has XR2, but I wish it had a way to plug into a DP port in a PC GPU so PC can take over and supercharge it, the fact I cant plug it into GPU and run flight sim 2020 on highest graphics with a new rtx3080 means I might still buy a Reverb G2

@Alonso Reyes No Reverb G2 has 2160 x 2160 LCD panels per eye and full RGB stripe. With a total of 9.3 million pixels for both eyes...you don't reach 4k resolution per eye (8mpX2)....You've to wait mini led for that ...And very, very powerful GPU...Not only a 3080, if you want really nice game in a 2x4K at 90hz at least....
I’m saying I want both, unplugged which is a huge bonus over the Reverb and the xr2 chip looks like it’s going to be great, but then I want to plug the quest 2 into my gpu and supercharge it.....best of both worlds but neither headset seems to have that option, plugging a quest 2 into a USB ain’t supercharging it

The quest is 1440 x 1600, 50% more pixels is exactly 1920 x 1800 so that probably will be the quest 2 resolution
or maybe just an lcd and said it would be equivalent of 50% pixels we don't know exactly
@@nejihiashi i didn't say anything about the panel type but i doubt they would downgrade to an lcd, anyway 1920 x 1800 per eye is the "cosest to square" resolution that could be 50% more pixels than the quest

I’m a little nervous for the head strap, sure it’s more comfortable and flexible but I’ve used those 10 dollar phone headsets and those things tend to fall off, maybe because this is a company that is ACTUALLY doing a good vr headset, maybe they know how to prevent the strap from slipping off your head.

I just hope more VR headset options appear. Because atm we can only choose the index as the most reliable choice so far (although even it has its own hardware issues). The HTC company is down to shit so that's out of the question. You can only get the HTC original Vive used . occulus isn't even worth it since you have to log in though a FB account (old devices will have to do this a few years later).
I get that production overall has been low due to the pandemic but still.

I'll sure there'll be more improvements like sensors refreshrate, data rate transfer from the sensors, and if as they said it'll be 2× more performing than the snapdragon 835 it'll run games a bit better. Going from 1400×1600 > almost 1080p (if i can remember well) will not draw 50% of the XR2 perf but more like 15-25% i'd say.

Google also doesn't force me to use my real name whereas facebook is actively banning people who don't use their real name. Facebook has also been performing unethical experiments on their users and they've been guilty of violating many privacy laws.
Google has their own advertising services and they're abusing their power as well, but I don't think they sell as much data. That said, I complain more than enough about Google's data mining as well which is also why I use adblocker. I don't like Apple's closed ecosystem, but my next phone might be an Iphone purely for privacy and security reasons.
The main problem with Facebook is that they disrespect any kind of privacy to such a degree that it is just unacceptable whereas Google isn't that bad.

Another video says 50% increase in pixels over the original 2880x1600 which I estimate will be 3200x2160 that's huge. Even the Valve Index and Samsung Odyssey + are lower and they are tethered headsets. Why would they use such a high resolution. Could it be an increase in ppi?
This will be great if you can get all the normal VR games on it and not limited to only some of the games on the oculus store

Definitely quest 2. The rift s is now obsolete in my opinion. You don't necessarily need an extra cable. The default one should work well

Also they give this hand tracking and forget that the rift s was ever made, with very little updates and lack of new features I wouldn't be surprised if they closed support for it.
90hz refresh rate at the least. A Bloomberg news article in May confirmed a 90hz refresh rate with an optional 120hz. Especially because of the XR2 chip, this headset can handle 90hz no problem.

I've had my Oculus Quest version 1 for over a year and I'm very happy with it. For me it's not worth upgrading to Quest 2. I'll wait for the next Quest 3 in a few years time.
