I’m a firm believer that generational talent translates to any era. Jordan and Bron would succeed in any era because they are built to succeed. So they would adjust and play to whatever era they were plopped into. But Jordan is still the GOAT!
Really don't c LeBrons style of play working in the 90s. Cuz it's easy to attack the basket with wide open lanes no hand checking and most importantly no big men guarding the rim. So no I don't think LeBron would b anywhere near as good in the 90s. He'd basically have to completely change his game and overall attitude not to mention there would b no super team building. Just wouldn't go well for him.
Everyone who makes the NBA is already generational talent. We see players who played in the wrong era all the time. See Chris Bosh, Steve Nash, Reggie Miller or even JJ Reddick and Ray Allen all saying they'll be unstoppable in this current era.
The machine is definitely behind him, but there is a reason why. All eyes have been on him since he was 15. He is doing it with his childhood friends and without a dad. He created a blueprint that gave his childhood friends generational wealth. He doesn’t have any scandals in an age where social media and clout are the biggest drug. Bron’s biggest superpower isn’t his athleticism. It’s his basketball IQ and discipline. That’s why I think he will survive in any era. He is more comfortable being a surgeon than an assassin.
I was super poor back on 98 (12 years old) and my best friends parents had some money, so he got all the dope releases. Long story short, he hated these (he had the bred colorway) and gave them to me brand new. Maaaan, I rocked these all summer and then some. These started my obsession for sneakers, and I never looked back. These would sell if Nike rereleased them again.
I had a similar situation myself. My mother didn’t have much money and was a single parent. So, I couldn’t get sneakers of a high price tag. There was this kid in my freshman class while I lived in California and his parents were lawyers and he was spoiled beyond belief. Every pair of sneakers that were the in thing in the mid 90’s he got and nothing he wore ever looked as if he wore it more than once. I was so jealous of him. I swore to myself back then that no matter what once I had money I would get all those sneakers I wanted. And so I did even to the detriment of my credit and bank account. So, jealousy and envy is a prison and I know it all too well. But, yes, I got my kicks nonetheless even at the expense of my financial wellbeing. Looking back, I wish that young version of myself would’ve not been hellos and envious but thankful for what I had and just had been content because my older self would’ve been thankful to not enter into the world of loving sneakers.
Mannnn you took me back! I had this pair in middle school. Debut them my first game on 7th grade team and had a night. 20 points! Good memories in the son of gloves
Great video, It was nice to hear you talk about SP Gina. She was a wonderful person, I was saddened when I heard that she passed away last year. Definitely will be checking out the auction.
I had the original Black/White pair back in winter of '98 before copping the Bred 13's later that Spring. Sleek silhouette and mad comfort and grip. Love to see them retro-ing :) Thanks for all you do, Nightwing!
Outtakes at the end were hilarious. 😂 90s Chicago Bulls team playing today’s game would be so dope. Rodman would probably get ejected in the first few minutes but would be so cool to watch.
Just for the thumbnail is an automatic like and comment! I had the Son of Glove in the black and white colorway, couldn't afford the Flight 98s so went for these and trashed to the ground in my senior year at highschool, I still remember 98-99 as my favorite school year ever and the sneaker game my friends and I had that year was sick: Air Jordan 13 mid and low, Penny 3, Air Max Shake'Em Up, Reeboks Avant Garde, Reignman II, After Shock Mid and Steel Mid. What a wonderful year! Still feel like it was yesterday and it has been more than 25 years!
I LOVED the Son of Glove! They were so comfortable & snug. Loved the zip that was off-center! Had the Black/White/Red colorway & wore them out. If they ever re-release the same colorway, Im buying IMMEDIATELY!
Another great overall video breakdown. Thank you and very much appreciated. The Nike Zoom Air Flight The Glove is one my favorite all time Nike shoes. I had the originals but, sold them. I purchased the retros in the original colorways and the red/black-gold colorway a.k.a. "Miami Heat" colorway when Gary Payton played for them.. I have seen the other colorways of the retros which were okay. Did not realize they dropped in a blue and white colorway. Would have purchased those. I was tempted with the Son of Glove model but having the original Zoom Air Flight Gloves, I was fine. Huge fan of the shrouded basketball/athletic shoes such as the Nike Flightposite and the Air Jordan XX8 28 models.
Talking about takedowns, I worked at FootQuarters from 95-97 (just out of school and between going into auto sales). This was a sister store to FTL, LFTL and Champs. But we sold all shoes (dress, work, hiking, sneakers, for mens womens and kids ). I remember vividly, I saw the shipping manifest and a show called the Flight Turbulence! 🔥🔥 Knew exactly what they were and i should have bought a pair. We got some cool stuff (got all the Filas at the time too).
Thanks for highlighting the auction. I'll probably put in a bid today. My dad took me to see Jordan and the Bulls at the old Chicago Stadium. I would love to see how he would do in today's NBA.
When you said "drop the top" it brought back memories. 😊 I had the black ones, and I loved them. I was so sad when the zipper busted. LaBron had a shoe that zipped up, and I bought it just because of the memories. It wasn't the same and didn't last nearly as long.
Man I regret not picking up the Glove several years back when they used to litter my local Nike outlet. They used to be in the Sonics colorway and were so cool from a conceptual standpoint. In regards to the question of the day, I’d honestly be more interested in whether or not MJ would’ve been an even more insane performer had he had modern day basketball shoes. Like imagine MJ on court with the current Jordan models. Would it have only been a slight marginal difference? Would he have blown out of them given the difference in materials and textiles? Just some stuff I always ponder. Great vid as always!
Another great vid of another great 90's shoe. Nike's takedowns in the 80's/90's were awesome and many!! As for MJ or LBJ..? I'm putting Prime MJ in today's league.
Had the Son of Glove in white/black back in the day. Sonics were my western conference team, and Mom couldn't afford J's, but got these and Kamikaze 1 Lows on heavy discount back in the day. Memories. Hopefully Reebok eventually brings back the Kamikaze 1 Lows some day.
I had the Bred colourway of the Glove in '99. Went on holiday and came back to find our house had been broken into and all my sneakers were stolen. Insurance didn't pay out for all of them, and I couldn't find a replacement pair anyway. Loved these shoes.
Yooooo, i had Those back then when i was 20. it was 1999 i guess. Blue Upper and Glove, white midsole and swoosh was Yellow. What a flashback. Forgot about those until i saw em here. Nice. Thanks for the throwback. Regards from Germany. ✌🏻
I remember wanting a pair of these in high school when I saw it at Mervyn's back in the day. I remember wanting these and the Turbulence too. But a lot of people in middle and high school either wore Nike basketball or cross trainer sneakers. I grew up in a smallish town. Kids my age lived off of Eastbay and other catalogs

Nightwing, I had a pair of shoes similar to these in 1999. They were a bred colorway with tumbled leather and they had an air bubble on the heel of the outsole. I can't remember the model of the shoe or find any images online of them.
Takedowns were great. I remember reading (probably from Aaron Cooper's IG) that the Air Flight Turbulence were supposed to be the shoe for Iverson had he signed with Nike, thus why the first color way looked VERY much like the Concord XIs. Monkeypaw probably didn't add a lot to the stability of the shoe, but it was a great psychological tool that helped me attack the rim with a bit more confidence. As far as today's question: I'm with Chris, give me the 98 Bulls in total in today's game. Pip was heralded as a lengthy 6'8" wing defender that could cover all five positions. That sounds like a number of folks nowadays. So, just to see Pip try to defend like a Tatum, or Paolo, or Luka would be amazing.
I was a fan of these but what I really liked were the GP/ JKidd models with the replacement skins so you could change the color ways. They were heavy as bricks but I loved being able to change the colors.
FINALLY. You did it. Bought these in Germany 99 at a PX for 54$. To this Day, probably my favourite Shoe to play Ball in. That the whole Shoe was hidden under the “leather” Glove was so 🔥🔥🔥 and my Color Black with a white Nike Swoosh …. Jesus Christ. That Shoe was a Neck Breaker too.
I had the OG black joints back in highschool but they were a neoprene type cover not leather. My cousin got em and gave em to me after he wore em a week… As a Sonics fan it made me so happy haha
I bought the zoom gp retro back in 2020 because of you chris! also put the zoom soles from the flightposite in them so they are double stacked front and back.
One of my favorite 90s shoes is the Penny 2s only thing wrong for me was heel slippage, but that cushion especially for a guard type like me was Goated!
I was obsessed with these when I was a kid. I had the black leather ones, wish I kept them. I have a pair of the Oregon States, which were going for crazy money at one point.
Please do more reviews of retro this type of GOLD !!!! I miss seeing the golden era of sneakers in the East Bay Magazine!!!! Maybe start having a designated day for only the old retro reviews of shoes they have not or haven't retroed for a while. I love the channel and the reviews. The Glove..... one of the best trash talkers of the era.... and he could ball the fuck out too.
Besides these, they really need to retro the Alpha Project shoes besides the Prestos and Kukinis! To me, peak Nike for function and going all out in their wild designs!
Love those shoes. I don’t know if I would wear them now, I’d have to see them on foot, but they are forever classics. I don’t think I could pick whether I would rather see Jordan in today’s game, or LeBron in the 90s or 80s. I have so much interest in seeing both. I also think both of them would do great. They are S tier players, and generational talents. There’s no way they don’t both look excellent in a different era.
Man, I LOVED the Son of Gloves. Had the FootAction exclusive white/navy/carolina pair. Ended up selling them years ago for next to nothing. Not gonna lie, I actually preferred the SOG to the actual Gloves. I remember being crazy excited for them, but hated the Zoom they used. To me, they weren't comfy at all. SOG cushioning felt so much more plush.
The thumbnail made me smile…If Nike watches your videos they need to bring em back already! NIKE ITS BEEN TOOOOOO LONG! PLEASE BRING EM BACK ALREADY🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 #SOG #SonOfGlove #BringEmBack
The Gloves have to be my second favorite shoe next to most Jordans. I have and still rock the black and white pair from the last retro release date. They need to rerelease them.
Have yall reviewed Jonathon Isaac’s shoe? I wanted to know your opinion on it and I couldn’t find a review from you guys. maybe I just need to look harder for it tho. Great vid as always! Gary Payton 2 should get his own protro of the son of gloves!!!
I have two pair of the Kobe Icon that are a play off of the Gloves! They have the Kobe 6 outsole and they are super dope and very comfortable! Bless Up 💯
QOTD: Prime Jordan in today's game, no question, especially if he gets access to today's sneaker tech. So many arguments would be settled. Thanks for the review! I like seeing lesser-appreciated vintage kicks like this. It's a nice break from the current flood of sail- and mustard-colored Jordans. Glad as always to beat down this ma hunchy Al G. Rhythm for you.
I copped a purple retro of these. But in a size 13. I’m a 12. Copped at a very low price. Rocked them a lot. Very cool shoe. A bit of a hoven due to its construction. Would love to have a pair.
Awww, that lady passed.. that sucks. I remember helping my ex get those ones when they dropped. She loved them, took pictures of them and idek if she wore em.

Where did y'all find these?! I've been looking for both Gloves and the Son of Gloves. I finally have the Black pair after a 12 year wait
Still clean...

Thanks for highlighting the auction. I'll probably put in a bid today. My dad took me to see Jordan and the Bulls at the old Chicago Stadium. I would love to see how he would do in today's NBA.
Dude, you unlocked a core memory. I had these. And this is what made me love the glove lol

Had a black and white pair of the actual gloves of that model. Loved them
Nice to support SP Gina
These shoes was super nice back then, hardly any kids had these in New Zealand. Love the vids by the way
Had OG black ones. Loved em and yes they definitely didn’t do them the justice they deserved on the retro job. Appreciate the trip down memory lane.
Had em back in the day and I got the retros too. One of my all time favs.

Always learning something new about sneakers here. Thank y'all for doing what you all do.
Appreciate that 😊
I love the random model reviews!!
I was obsessed with these when I was a kid. I had the black leather ones, wish I kept them. I have a pair of the Oregon States, which were going for crazy money at one point.

Oh dang! I had the og one's back in the day! Forgot about those! I also had the Turbulence! I was the budget King when I was a kid lol
I agree, prime Jordan today would finally finish the conversion. I’m not convinced he would be as dominant. But would be fun!
These are my Faaaaavorite Nike's Ever. I had all colors but my absolutely favorite was the UNCs. I still have them

another history class with Chris, a really great find!
Best sneakers channel ever, love the content, peace ✌️
Besides these, they really need to retro the Alpha Project shoes besides the Prestos and Kukinis! To me, peak Nike for function and going all out in their wild designs!
I had the Jason Kidd version of these that had the inner shoe with the outer sleeve. Very cool looking and heavy at the time.
I had the all black pair with the white swoosh abck in the day.. awesome kicks
agree w/ Chris...would love to see Jordan in today's NBA
Man, I LOVED the Son of Gloves. Had the FootAction exclusive white/navy/carolina pair. Ended up selling them years ago for next to nothing. Not gonna lie, I actually preferred the SOG to the actual Gloves. I remember being crazy excited for them, but hated the Zoom they used. To me, they weren't comfy at all. SOG cushioning felt so much more plush.
Always the best. Thanks yall
The thumbnail made me smile…If Nike watches your videos they need to bring em back already! NIKE ITS BEEN TOOOOOO LONG! PLEASE BRING EM BACK ALREADY🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 #SOG #SonOfGlove #BringEmBack
Love it! Have you reviewed the Air Force 2s from way back when?
Great question, I agree.
I passed up on these for the Reebok answer IV. The gloves were 2 for 98 dollars at the time in Baltimore . The red white answers just came out.
That sail sample is super clean !!!

RIP 🙏 Gina I think that is really cool what SP is doing with Gina
I still got my pair from 98. Love this shoe.
The Gloves have to be my second favorite shoe next to most Jordans. I have and still rock the black and white pair from the last retro release date. They need to rerelease them.
Best sneakerhead on TH-cam💯🍻
The Glove 🥊 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The SP Gina face on your T-shirt reminds me of Mars Blackmon logo on the back heel branding on the Spizike shoes.
Got busy with Solar eclipse on TH-cam all day.. didnt realize you guys posted a video
I had the black and white pair in the 8th grade, still my favorite take downs
I had the gloves. One of my favorite shoes of all time. Son of gloves were great on court.
I don’t recall these but Nike did their thing!! For the QotD, I would want to see both! LOL!
