Hey Chris - Tinker Hatfield tells the story about this shoe in the Netflix series "Abstract" Season 1, episode 2. He mentioned that he lost his father around the time he was designing his shoe and his heart wasn't fully into it, and to some degree, this shoe/design is special to him because it reminds him of his father. He also mentioned that he's aware that it's not everyone's favorite silhouette. I found his story about the 15 interesting and felt empathy for him when he was telling it.
I was working at The Athlete’s Foot when these came out. I remember trying them on and liking how they felt and looked on foot a lot more than in hand. Don’t remember selling any though.
The 15 is probably the most hated in that people have strong opinions about them and have since the day they came out. The 2 was never hated historically, but generally just forgotten about. (That is until the last few years when a few collaborators have tried to make it cool, because making things that aren't cool now is the cool thing to do.)
Based on Tinker's story on how a difficult time it was for him, from losing Nike co-founder and his personal teacher Bill Bowerman and losing his father and experiencing MJ's loss with his dad, he still considers this one of his worst designs. I still think it looks cool no matter what anyone says. Anything can have a story behind it.
Oh man the pop culture edits really hit in this video, more than usual. Shoutout to Jodi for killing it with the editing. Always appreciate the history on any sneakers, especially the ones that don't get much love.
I still break out my Jordan 15 SE Bragging Rights Georgetown every now and then. One of my first pairs of Jordans I bought as an adult they definitely hold some memories for me. 👊👊👍👍
Another great overall video review!! Thank you, once again, to Mr. Chris and Mrs. Jodi for the efforts and time. Always very much appreciated. Still have my OG Air Jordan 15 XV's, both mids and lows. And had the white and the black slip on shoes. As for the Tri-City sticker on the shoe box, it was huge sporting goods store in Newark, California. They closed years ago. That is the place where I purchased my OG Air Jordan XI 11 in the playoffs colorway. No line waiting, no raffle, no crowds. Just walked right in, went to the shoe section where they had the shoes on the shelf, picked my size, went to the cashier, paid. Back to the AJ XV 15, I personally do not hate the model but, definitely not my favorite.
These will always hold a special place in my sneaker heart cause they were my First pair of J's. I had the OG colorway too. I admit they did feel clunky at first until they're broken in.
None of these other shoe tubers can compare to this man’s knowledge! It’s like all the other TH-camrs regurgitate the same & a lot of times incorrect information. Also none of them pay attention to the shoe details/missing details (like the black cat 3’s lack of black cat stitching behind the heel tab).
I call them the geometry quiz Jordans, all those weird angles. Definitely the most hated. When you put them in the box they look like a legit brick, put some mortar on those joints. 😂
I think hate on a Jordan model is unwarranted, especially the Jordan 2; some people became a hivemind when it came to hating that shoe to the point where it's ridiculous. Also, ramen for me; I was stationed in Japan and had some fantastic ramen that left a culinary impression on me.
I had these my senior year of highschool. I think it was more white than navy tho. At the time I didn't really love them but I got em for cheap. Now....id love to have a pair again
The most hated for me as a kid was all the Jordan’s because my mom couldn’t afford em. I still remember trying to ball out in Stride Rites. If you know you know. Great video Chris🫡.
Thank you for the review Chris! I love the Jordan 15, maybe because of the nostalgia (I owned the low top white & navy version that you showed), or maybe it’s just because it is so unique and different. I wish they would retro one of them soon. Speaking of the late 90’s early 2000’s, I would also love to see a retro (or a review) of the old Jordan T-runner’s. Those were dope.
Rose Anvil did a tear down of these, and I was really excited about playing in them again, but when I saw the tech in the video I decided against it. I completely agree with you on the Carolina colorway and vividly remember them being pretty great (even with a really dusty court that my OG All Star Question’s were like ice skates on).
13:16 I like pho but I love ramen. As for the AJ15s, it certainly looks like one of the weirder ones. Massive step back from the 14s. Thanks again for the dope content!
Reminds me of your air Jordan project videos. Reviewing each numbered shoe from the 1-23 on the court. Not sure if you were kicks on court then still or something else.
I need those Columbia 15s. They were the first Jordan I bought for myself. Really was the only pair of Jordan's I had. I was super frugal in my younger years.
I remember when those came out back in the day, I definitely not like them. And I pretty much forgot about those but your loose laced on foot b roll make shots make those look so damn good. I am definitely liking that obsidian color and that slate gray pair. If done properly, I would pick those up.
I call them "The water jugs" bc of the shape. I lived in PR when them joints came out, and my boy got em and that's what we dubbed them. I personally dislike the design.
Great review..I’m from the UK I went to Florida back in the day and still go..was at the outlets there and the flint greys were in there soon as I seen them I had to buy them..amazing looking shoe..just remembered I’ve got the green PSNY..not had them on feet for a while might break them out..they turned heads here in the UK..everyone asks what are those..lol…👍
I bought the last release of the Stealth colorway, but returned them once I found out they removed the forefoot zoom unit... Then I bought the Storm Blue 1s on sale haha What a different time
I always wanted a pair, but never enough to cop! BTW, there's a TH-cam channel called Rose Anvil that cuts shoes in half. They're as detailed in their descriptions as you are!
XV are in my top five. Similar to you, I got the Stealth pair at Christmas 99/00, my Junior year. In February I copped the UNC pair, then the Obsidian, and by Fall of 2000 had the low White/Red. Still have them, too! Need that UNC retro, though.
Definitely an underrated model in the line. I was a fan of the SE pairs in university colorways (UNC and the Georgetown pair, which is still one of the more comfortable Jordans I own)
I had the originals in obsidian. My first pair of Jordans. I enjoyed playing in them once they broke in, super comfortable but they were a little clunky compared to the Jet Flights. Nike really needs to retro those.
The plane used for the inspiration was literally the X-15 that was developed by the USAF and NASA back in the late 50's and 60's. It was NOT the stealth bombers. Also, Thanks for continuing to use those broken down shoes! I had some decent games in those 15s!
Worth mentioning is that Tinker himself think that this is his worst shoe. He was tired of Air Jordans in general, i believe he was mourning the loss of his father as well. That story actually made me dislike them less.
The 15s looks are polarizing. But its growing on me. Yup, I remembered when you called them out back then for not having forefoot zoom & it got recalled/refunded customers.
Had an original pair of the 15 low in white/navy. Honestly one of the most comfortable shoes with the dual zoom setup, but definitely felt clunky when hooping in them. I like both pho and ramen, just depends what I'm in the mood for at the time
LOVE the XV so much. I had the original white and columbias, but always wanted the black ones. I would absolutely like to see a proper retro. ramen and pho are equally great, just depends on my mood. if I had to pick one, and only one, I would do spicy pho ga (chicken instead of beef) no question. I would never miss ramen if it had to go away.
I have my OG black/red XVs still and I did buy a pair of the retros in 2017 from Centre. And after the ish hit the fan, I called Nike, told them where I purchased them (had the order receipt if they needed it) but I did get a 30% discount code. That came out handy later on. 👍
Imo these are one of the dopest silhouettes that just doesn't get the proper love nor respect it deserves. I truly hope they retro them, even if they're just a limited release.
I’d be totally on board with a push of the AJ15. Just make them reasonably priced. Planning to cop the PSNY 15’s promised myself I wouldn’t pay retail and I’m not but man they are fire
I had that exact color way. Just like the title of this video, they were the Jordans I hated the most in my entire life. Like you said, they were clunky & they also made my feet bleed
Back in the late 90's and early 00's I was on a quest to own all the mainline Jordans in at least one colorway and I got these in that exact colorway simply for that reason. I was a hooper so I did try to play in them and while I found the cushion to be really good the overall fit never worked for me. The heal lock down just wasn't there and I think that was due to how the heel counter was designed. Just didn't work for my foot and ankle ergonomics. I did come to appreciate the shoe because I definitely think it was a bold design choice with the whole 'Tongue sticks out because Mikes did.' but overall I never really liked the look of the shoe and it was just not IMO a great shoe to play in. If it was not a great looker but performed well I would have worn them more but they just didn't work for me visually or performance wise. And Pho FTW! But I do love me some real Ramen.
Pho is the way to go. You need to have Hmong Style pho. The broth is a lot richer and you are supposed to add; beef paste, siracha, lime, oyster sauce, jalapeños, to the broth along with other assorted condiments to suit your taste and level of spiciness. And it also depends on what meat you want added; pork balls, beef balls, fish balls, shrimp, raw beef strips (thinly sliced so that the hot broth cooks it), beef tendon, beef tripe, regular eggs or quail eggs. And then top it off with sliced green onions, lettuce, mint, bean sprouts.
You might think about starting to cut these new age shoes in half to see if whats being represented is actually in the shoes. Be great way to get the quality back in modern day remakes.
Correction! The design inspiration was based on an X-15 and NOT the stealth bomber. Sorry about the mistake.
correction again: the X-15 was an experimental (that's why the X-designation) rocket-powered hypersonic jet, not a fighter jet :)
Corrections allowed: c'mon, it's NightWing Yo✨

Gotta check it out
The 15s were my first pair of Jordans. For that reason, I will always have an affinity for them.❤
Me too the North Carolina blue for my AAU team and man they were sought after back then.
I second the emotion (especially the lows) ✨
I got the 15s the day they came out 12/11/99, loved them ever since.
I was working at The Athlete’s Foot when these came out. I remember trying them on and liking how they felt and looked on foot a lot more than in hand. Don’t remember selling any though.
Athlete's Foot.. Totally forgot that about that store.

These were ahead of their time with the knitted upper. I personally LOVE this shoe
I still break out my Jordan 15 SE Bragging Rights Georgetown every now and then. One of my first pairs of Jordans I bought as an adult they definitely hold some memories for me. 👊👊👍👍

I love 15s. I’ve been looking for that 2017 one in my size for a good price the last year or so.
I found a pair of Laser 15’s in Japan back in 2014 for a steal. Started my love for this shoe.
I've fallen in love with this silhouette. It can go anywhere and be within the dress code. Love em love em love em
Great video!! Even more informative than normal (which is saying something)
2:19 Tri-City has been gone for years but I’m not sure how long. Bunch of townhouses on that land now, as you’d probably guess.
I call them the geometry quiz Jordans, all those weird angles. Definitely the most hated. When you put them in the box they look like a legit brick, put some mortar on those joints. 😂

The 15 has always been one of my top 5 favorite Air Jordan retro silhouettes.
1.) 16
2.) 18
3). 15
4). 17
5). 19
The most hated for me as a kid was all the Jordan’s because my mom couldn’t afford em. I still remember trying to ball out in Stride Rites. If you know you know. Great video Chris🫡.

I had 2017 15s Obsidian one. Really enjoy wearing it on and off court. So good
13:16 I like pho but I love ramen. As for the AJ15s, it certainly looks like one of the weirder ones. Massive step back from the 14s. Thanks again for the dope content!
turtleneck shoes 😩😩
I had the Columbia Blue ones. Loved them
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Flint 15's are one of my Grails.
I bought that hoodie and absolutely love it. Very comfortable and very warm. The 15's used to be my favs 20 years ago, especially the all black ones.
I too was 16 at the time and i distinctly remember buying the foamposites with the zipper instead of these
Great filer video I always wandered what’s inside the 15 i hope they would at least retro it in the near future
Reminds me of your air Jordan project videos. Reviewing each numbered shoe from the 1-23 on the court. Not sure if you were kicks on court then still or something else.
Fastpass was awesome for doing that.
Awesome review as always. 👌🏽
I need those Columbia 15s. They were the first Jordan I bought for myself. Really was the only pair of Jordan's I had. I was super frugal in my younger years.
I have mine on today. Definitely one of my favorites and waiting on a crispy white and red retro.
I love ball in XV in 99/2000. Gosh I’m old 😢
I remember when those came out back in the day, I definitely not like them. And I pretty much forgot about those but your loose laced on foot b roll make shots make those look so damn good. I am definitely liking that obsidian color and that slate gray pair. If done properly, I would pick those up.

Ramen an easy winner over Pho. Jodi FTW!

Good call, thanks for catching that!
I have the black ones from the countdown pack. They definitely need to retro a couple of these colors.
Worth mentioning is that Tinker himself think that this is his worst shoe.
He was tired of Air Jordans in general, i believe he was mourning the loss of his father as well.
That story actually made me dislike them less.
Back to back videos!? Is this a gift from the algorithm gods?
The 15s looks are polarizing. But its growing on me. Yup, I remembered when you called them out back then for not having forefoot zoom & it got recalled/refunded customers.
The cutaways in this vid are top-tier
Had an original pair of the 15 low in white/navy. Honestly one of the most comfortable shoes with the dual zoom setup, but definitely felt clunky when hooping in them.
I like both pho and ramen, just depends what I'm in the mood for at the time
15s are dope. White/blue and white/grey
I love 15’s so much! Wish they would retro them again… I have a few pairs
I got the 15 lasers and 15 stealths. Still rocking till this day
Ramen v Pho: I think it’s easier to find good Pho but when you find a good Ramen, it’s better than any Pho you ever had.
I have my OG black/red XVs still and I did buy a pair of the retros in 2017 from Centre. And after the ish hit the fan, I called Nike, told them where I purchased them (had the order receipt if they needed it) but I did get a 30% discount code. That came out handy later on. 👍
I just got the black/red pair last year & I owned the low top original white/red pair and the flints the Flint colorway is my favorite Jordan 15
We need those Black and Red's 16's back!!!
for the algo, Jordan brand needs to protro some of these older unknown designs
I still have the original Stealth release sitting in my closet!.. they got no love except from me!
Woo, so the westbrook 1s are based on that hehe. Loved those shoes, hoping they retro those.
just my 2cents. tinker retired after these flopped. rather have 2s than 15.
id rather have the trunners retro
13:11 Ramen
I like the air Jordan 15.. on original colorways.. those navy 15’s look great if they’d release them I’d buy them for sure..
15 Moc looks like a good competitor to the 1906L 😅
But yeah, these need a comeback. Personally think the 15s look so good with just solid colors.
I caught mine on sale a few years back and they’re pretty comfortable to me.
Imo these are one of the dopest silhouettes that just doesn't get the proper love nor respect it deserves. I truly hope they retro them, even if they're just a limited release.
i had those back in the day. eveyone made fun of them and said they were ugly/weird. i can say playing in them was amazing. top 3 aj to play in.
I definitely need them all again still have my UNC and black and red countdown ones
I love these!! I still have my pair from 2017 and they’re not going anywhere. I think they look good in jeans.
I’d be totally on board with a push of the AJ15. Just make them reasonably priced. Planning to cop the PSNY 15’s promised myself I wouldn’t pay retail and I’m not but man they are fire
The 15’s came out when my mom died. I liked the black ones but never copped them!
I love the 15s my favorite colorway is the flint grey I need them to retro. I have the last stealth retro
I had that exact color way. Just like the title of this video, they were the Jordans I hated the most in my entire life. Like you said, they were clunky & they also made my feet bleed
I saw a local spot had a clean pair of Stealth 15s in my size for $75
Back in the late 90's and early 00's I was on a quest to own all the mainline Jordans in at least one colorway and I got these in that exact colorway simply for that reason. The Unc pair was the first shoe my girlfriend bought me! Love them till this day!
Yeah I can dee them bringing these back especially the unc and stealth colors
i definitely would buy a pair if Jordan release this colorway again

Being a 90s kid, the 15 brings back memories of MJs second retirement 😢. For worst J, my pick is the 2010. The window, that damn window 😂.
Looks like the adidas kobe and the T-Mac 1 had a baby
These are going for a lot more than I expected on stockx…
That’s crazy cuz the retro 2 is my 2nd favorite Jordan
@@everybodyknowsamike1840 I ❤️my 2s, everybody I know sleeps on em . Crazy !
Glad you called out how bad these look after a couple wears 😂
Also, ramen ALL DAY
I loved this shoe. I had the white and purple pair. I definitely buy another pair
14:00 yes! Yes and Yes!
I love my 15s even tho they billie eyelash whatever there the only recent ones for below low retail there so comfortable idgaf what people say
i think my first ever pair of jordans was loosly based on these and i loved them the "jordan masterpiece"
Looks like a dress shoe now in retrospect. Or a dress boot. That tongue could be on a Zion shoe
Have you seen the Kubo 15s? They got rid of the goofy looking tongue, and they might have a zipper. Tinker was given a redo.
You might think about starting to cut these new age shoes in half to see if whats being represented is actually in the shoes. Be great way to get the quality back in modern day remakes.
I love the 15 especially the all black and the team bank colorways. 🔥🔥🔥 I also love the 2s guess I just love all the "ugly" Jordan's
I remember Bizzy Bone wearing them.
You haven't seen a retro b/c they were called out for putting in foam instead of zoom air inside the shoe and caused a major backlash as well...
