  • Glory, heartbreak and miracles.
    That only tells part of the story of football in Yokohama. The city is home to three J.League teams, one defunct club and the bitterest of footballing rivalries. Oh, and the world's oldest professional footballer, still playing in J1, the top flight of Japanese football, at the age of 53.
    This is the story of Yokohama F. Marinos, Yokohama Flugels, Yokohama FC and YSCC Yokohama. Together they make this Japan's wildest football destination.

    As great as always! I'm actually writing about Y. Flugels as a part of my master's thesis about J.League clubs. Your videos always remind me that i need to get back to work, so thanks for the extra motivation haha

      @@LostinFootballJapan I truly appreciate the old vintage footage too. It is neat to see the deeper history and evolution of the beautiful game in Japan.

    another great video! I think you are going to reach osaka/saitama/ibaraki eventually so I am gonna suggest the Chiba Prefecture teams would be great

    • @LostinFootballJapan
      @LostinFootballJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Chiba would be a cool one. Reysol and JEF are both fascinating clubs, plus there are some interesting non-J.League teams, too. Thanks for the comment!

    Very good stuff. The history is quite complicated but in the end everyone got what they wanted. I'm pretty sure you're going to do Osaka eventually so I guess I will suggest the Ibaraki Prefecture? Enjoyed the video and look forward to the next👍

    • @LostinFootballJapan
      @LostinFootballJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah, it's kind of mad how everything unfolded in Yokohama. Makes for some great stories and, like you mention, everyone pretty much got what they wanted in the end. Osaka seems a very popular choice, so that episode will definitely be coming soon. Ibaraki is a great shout, too. Thanks a lot! Next episode will be coming soon ⚽🇯🇵

    Hey! You forgot Yokohama Takeru in the Kanto SL Div. 2. :)
    Apart from that both videos are great and the background music gives it some atmosphere. Well done.

    Thank you for clearing up the Yokohama FC/Yokohama F. Marinos/YSCC situation. Do Yokohama FC and YSCC ground share? Have you been to Shonan Bellmare's ground?

    • @LostinFootballJapan
      @LostinFootballJapan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Yokohama FC and YSCC share the same ground. I've been to Shonan Bellmare's stadium a couple of times. This is a video from the their match against Athletico Paranaense a few years ago - th-cam.com/video/HHvGygbQwpE/w-d-xo.html

    Why the Japanese used Soccer word then changed to football later?

    • @LostinFootballJapan
      @LostinFootballJapan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Japanese, they usually use the English word soccer in most cases. The Japan Soccer League was the first organised nationwide league in the country. Later they introduced the Japan Football League, which was one step below the Japan Soccer League. So I think they just used football later to differentiate the Japan Football League from the Japan Soccer League
