Senior CNC programmer here, keep up the good work.
Thanks. After I bit I would like to purchase a fourth axis
"four adult Mexicans" had me spit out my coffee. Thanks for sharing your experience.
😆
shit, that got me too. LOLOLOLOLLOLLOOL
Welcome to the Tormach Family! We're so glad this worked out for you. We have many, many stories about beginners with a little drive, that learn how to CNC with our mills, and then move onto through our line to great success. We are here to help you out with our Tech Support, our Forum and the large community of wonderful Tormach users out there. PS: please rent an engine hoist next time. We're glad no one got hurt. Happy Milling!
Thanks. I’ve been really enjoying my time using my pcnc 440. Though having a forth axis or ATC would be really cool 👀. I have some bigger projects coming up.
You underestimate the power of 4 adult Mexicans lol
Awesome man, glad to see your venture into CNC. I am hoping to purchase a 770m in a few weeks.
You made the right call - Tormach is a much better, fairly Industrial machine.
I have a 4 Axis Bridgeport + a nice CNC Lathe - but perhaps interestingly, I hardly use them these days. I built a CNC Plasma (then two more better versions) and have found that by changing my design strategy, I've been able to make everything by plasma cutting & folding sheet metal (where I need strength / rigidity) and 3D Printing for everything else. The combination is much quicker, cleaner and more reliable - even if the parts don't always look quite as beautiful.
Interesting. I also got a plasma cutter recently but I haven’t been able to use it on a project yet.
Hell yeah, mexican power, bro, also known as a couple TIOs 💪💪
Appreciate you sharing your experience!
Just a heads up, if you have “an engineering company” in the future, you should be careful about using that word in the company name or in how you market the services, because in most states you’ll need a licensed engineer on staff and a company registration with the state’s engineering licensing board.
Ah I see. Thanks for the tip I’ll keep that in mind.
Very nice, I would really have wanted an ATC and probably 4th axis for that price range to increase productivity but i suppose it's a bit of an expensive pair of upgrades
Yea. Wasn’t prepared for the tooling and work holding cost either lol
good luck keep at it just takes time sir
Thanks
nice! iv been looking between a cnc router and a cnc mill to be able to machine metal cant make up my mind.
Have you looked into the carvera air?
Great video. I have been considreing getting a 440 for a basement shop. No way I can afford a haas, no way to power it or move it into my shop. But with an ATC and power drawbar the 440 is looking like $14k for the machine alone and that is a steep price to pay! I've used Tormach machines before though from my local makerspace, they are pretty great machines for learning CNC.
Yea for sure. In the future I also want to get an atc and forth axis
My family thought I was crazy for spending the 13-plus grand I spent on my Brand New Tormach 770 CNC mill with all the bells and whistles.
This was before all of the economic sanctions were placed on Chinese products coming into our country. Things were a bit cheaper back then.
Before retiring I did custom auto interiors on vintage automobiles for about 35 or 40 years. Many of the parts for these vintage cars were no longer available. If they were available, they were outrageously expensive, so I used my Tormach 770 to fabricate vintage car parts. When I wasn't working, I used my mill to make some of my own projects come to fruition.
I sold my mill when I retired thinking I wouldn't have much use for it anymore. Boy, what I wrong. Now that I have the time to work on my own dream projects, I don't have a mill to do it with. I sold my full-sized gunsmithing lathe and most of my other metal working machines too, so I screwed myself there as well.
Now I'm slowly getting back into machining. I'm going back to my roots with a small mini mill and mini lathe. I'm self-taught with all of this stuff; from G-Code to lathe turning to CAD/CAM.
These milling machines, like all other metal working machines aren't just machines, they're tools used to make the dreams in your head into real tangible reality items.
When I wasn't working on cars, I used my self-taught skills to fabricate airgun components that I sold hundreds of to buyers around the world. That was just one of my dreams when I bought this 770 CNC mill and I still have many more still waiting in the wings.

Yea, being able to turn an idea to reality is such a good feeling. I know I can order a part online for cheap nowadays but sometimes I want it in the moment. 3D printing and cnc milling has come in clutch for that.
What could help you is if there was someone who would teach you how to make a program 100% right. because that machine is not a huge machine, but it can mill 100% fine bits
Yee
langmiure also has a tiny z envelope
Yea. A z height of 6 inches also seemed kind of small to me
Can you make car parts with this machine
I am planning to do that in the future though I don’t have any experience in that field. Biggest part I can mill is 10 in by 10 in by 6 in
What is that text reflection on the machine door hahahaaaaa...this is stupid
Lol. I wanted to experiment with using a teleprompter to keep a constant speed.
@@DesignedByJared These are the kinds of comments you'll get from the personality types I refer to as, "Dream-Killers."
Everyone born on this earth is born to succeed. The reason that the vast majority of people don't succeed at making their dreams come true is because of the "Dream-Killers" who walk among us.
Most of them are failures in life so, in order for them to feel any kind of success in life, they have to make as many other people as they can be failures just like they are.
Many, many TH-camrs use a teleprompter!
God bless ya brother!😊
you could get insurance on that likely from The Hartford as a sole proprietor < $100 a mth
Interesting. I didn’t really know much at the time though. I think I pay $60-$80 a month from Geneva capital.
