Wonderful tour. I wish more people would record things like this! I recognized quite a bit, especially from Part 1. We spent a week down there this past summer and stayed at Springmaid Mountain Campground/Cabins. We have maternal family ancestors in Marion and first explored the area some years ago, but this was the first time we spent any significant time in Spruce Pine. Absolutely loved it! My father was from Asheboro and spent a week there every year while growing up.
Hey Tony I really enjoyed part 2 and you gave a very nice informative tour. Would have loved to see what it looked like in Autumn up in those mountains. Keep these videos coming.👍
Thanks Tony, a nice quiet town with good honest people. I'd maybe like to retire there and bring my acoustic guitar along. Are prices stayin level or are they falling (homes) if you know?
Hey - I think everything has been going crazy price-wise for a couple of years. Now it is getting better. Check Zillow or Realtor to see what's available. I love it up there an miss it a lot. If you love wilderness and really good people, that area is hard to beat. And yes - an awesome place to play some guitar.
I'm sure most of them are there - but there's been a lot of damage. My brother shared many stories with me yesterday about the problems. I'm going to try to get up there this weekend and check on my family and friends.
It looks to me like most of the houses at the top of the hill are newer and may not have been here when you lived here . There really seems to be a divide in this town between rich and poor .
that "gym" used to be the old YMCA and i think a little girl drowned a long time agodue to no life gaurds and they closed since dont quote me on this but thats what ive heard
Thanks for Part 2 Tony Glenn. What a beautiful drive and loved the stories too!

Are any of these houses left after the hurricane?
