    Have had my XR1200 since 2014. It had 350 miles on it when I got it. The only thing I`ve really changed was to put a Shorai battery in it. I definitely recommend that upgrade. Have been trying to make the Super Glide work, but it is just too harsh compared to this bike, even after installing Progressive 440`s and fork springs, and air hawk cushion. Even at 70 years old, if I take breaks, I can ride this bike all day long. I also recommend changing to Michelin road pilot tires, the Dunlop`s are like riding on stones. Also whenever you change your tires, make sure to change the wheel bearings to a quality bearing. Harley used Indian manufacture bearings, made from Chinese steel, some people barely got home with them. Great bike!!!

      Its a shame the millenials can't keep their stupid mouths shut calling Harleys junk like they did to this XR1200X and the XR1200 that caused the USA sales to crash causing Harley Davidson to pull the XR's from all American dealerships .. But you can buy a brand new one in Japan today ..

  • @paulrose6359
    @paulrose6359 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    HD's attempt to make an up-to-date and relevant motorcycle. Not a cruiser but a real try to build something progressive that looks and appeals to the
    non HD rider, so of course the dealers and sales people at those dealers had no idea of what this bike represented or how to sell it.

  • @donniebaker5984
    @donniebaker5984 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Harley Davidson are the most popular motorcycles of the Japanese ..and of all the Harleys the Japanese favors the XR1200..they do not ride any Japanese motorcycle's they import to the USA .. And the Japanese can buy new 2020 XR1200X as they never stopped making them for all other countries except for the USA ..as the millenials said the XR1200 and the XR1200X are all junk .. So Harley Davidson pulled the XR1200 from all american dealerships in 2012 .. Thanks millenials for taking away my freedom of choice ...I own you one each and everyone of you ..

    Do you still have it? I had one two years ago, sold it, regretted it and bought another one. Great commenters. Added led headlight, FMF exhaust, led signals, windscreen (small). Next will be a power commander. Always get compliments and questions on it. Great bike.

    Wind screen looks perfect on your bike. How does it do at 70? What brand n size is it? Bags are just right too. Whose are they? Thx

      Screen is awesome I use it on my other bikes now (Bonneville T120 and TU250X). It is a HD part. Same with the Bags and rack, HD part.

    XR1200 looks great! Older bike 5 gears? Glad u spoke up about the terrible XG750 Ergos. HD got it wrong badly, can't believe they haven't fixed it!

    These are great bikes. My brother has one and did the forks and shocks. It's a strong motor and excellent handling and brakes. I have the Buell M2 Cyclone and it compares well to that with the Buell being sharper and lighter. Good or bad depending on you riding skill. I also have a 2004 1200 roadster and that bike is an absolute blast to ride. I had standards like the ZRX 1100, CBR1000F, Suzuki GS, etc and these Harley are true standards too like you mentioned. They don't fly at terminal velocity like the others , but as I get older I appreciate the near zero maintenance these require.

    I’m short so the street rod is great! But the whole reason I bought it was because it reminded me of this bike, I might change out the flat tank down the road to make it look more like the XR1200

    Nice bike! I'm wanting one of these really bad I'm going to make a track day bike out of it to run the road course at NOLA Motor Speedway. These bikes had their own road course racing series in Europe for a while and did really well you can really drag a knee on these bikes. Not to mention they are legendary dirt flat track racers. I own a Harley Screamin Eagle Ultra and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R race bikes but I still got to have this one!!!

    I would have bought this bike on day one if it had a 4.5 gallon tank minimum. Experience requires my bike to have a comfortable range of 160 miles minimum. Loved the of prospect of a fun and capable bike and grew old waiting on more fuel, probably same scenario with the 2018 Fat Bob.

    • @motoknivesandgunsbyjt
      @motoknivesandgunsbyjt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Polkamp I have a range of 130 on mine (till empty). I find that I’m going to stop before 100 miles on any bike I’m on anyway. Some play with the gas petcock inside the tank to make use of the full tank which will add about 20 miles but I can’t find any directions on how to do this.

  • @bruth3659

    Does this bike have more ground clearance than the SR? (I scrape my SR pegs too) You liked the fuel eco on the SR, how is the mileage on this one?

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up trading this bike in for a 2018 Triumph Bonneville T120... Mileage was 35-40MPG where my T120 gets about 50-55MPG. The T120 also has better performance all round and isn't running dry on gas at 110 miles... Wasn't that great of a machine truthfully.

    Nice looking bike. I'm curious with the Street Rod 750 hip pain -- how tall are you? And did you ever have hip pain with the TU250x?

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      6' even. And I have absolutely no pain on the TU250X. It has way better Ergos then the XG750A ever did.

      Not very They ripped out on a ride and they leaked profusely. Long term the XR proved to have issues. I'm now on a Bonneville T120

    • @Jedz123

      It left me... It was causing a major hip injury. Since the swap my Hip is fully recovered.

  • @theharleydave4751
    @theharleydave4751 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had the same hip issues and saw tuffside now has a super tall boy seat offered now I got one and now all my hip issues went away . I really love my street rod I am 5ft 11 and that tall boy seat really helped.

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a custom seat that raised the seat up 4" and gave me a little more slide room font and back. It worked wonderful however I think incurred the injury on that +600 mile day... The tank and pegs are also horrid for the ergos. Seat height was only half the issue for me. I'm 6' with most of my length in my legs.

      I know have a 2018 Bonnville T120 with 4 months and 18K miles, I can say it's more comfortable, faster, better at slowing, better range and fuel economy and better handling. The XR is just a cool looking mediocre bike.
