American Graffiti was set in 1962, Coppala's first movie Dementia 13 was 1963. Toad accidentally back into the car behind him.

In GB we lived the part but a bit rougher than the film, as Teddy Boys and Rockers, we like to dress in the Rock n Roll style and be bad boys and some fights, the hot rod I had was a 1960 315 ford classic with a lotus engine and wheels and some other bits , we loved 1950s ford zephyr zodiacs consuls ect, and the music,I am in my 70s but can't give the style up still got my hair (but I dye it) dress the same and have old cars, never married but played the field, NO regrets,

Thanks for the fantastic video. I'm a longtime fan of the film. I had no idea there were so many homes built near the former location of station KTOB. It has really grown since I was last there and did my own little AG location scouting. It's worth noting that the interiors of Wolfman's radio station were not filmed in Petaluma but in Berkeley, CA. It took 2 days to film that brief yet pivitol scene. Wolfman initially received $1,000 for each night of shooting.
One other location not mentioned in your wonderful video is 4th St. in San Rafael. Many of the cruising scenes were filmed there. When watching Graffiti one can distinguish the scenes in San Rafael from the ones filmed in Petaluma by the streets. 4th St in San Rafael is a one way street whereas Petaluma Blvd, N. is not.
I have to say I'm a little surprised you didn't show the used car lot where Toad gets acousted by the obnoxious dealer trying to get him to trade the Impala for a Corvette. It's located just down the street from where you were standing.
I know you & your viewers are interested in the truth about movie history so if its ok I'd like to make a few corrections to your narration.
    1. AG was fimed in 1972 and released in 1973.
    2. The film is set in the year 1962.
    3. Copolla's DEMENTIA 13 was released in 1963. So the marquee is an anachronism.
    4. The "poolhall" scenes with Curt & The Pharaohs were all filmed many miles from Petaluma at a pinball arcade inside a pee-wee golf course located in Pinole, CA.
All these corrections can be substaniated on the websites, *PETALUMA CELEBRATES AMERICAN GRAFFITI. *KIP'S AMERICAN GRAFFITI BLOGSPOT.
Thanks for the cool video and showing what a few of the AG locations look like these days.
Good luck on your next video!

I know the pee wee golf course has to be long gone I'm a few town's from Pinol California, they have remodeled that town a lot moved and took out a lot of building's and built new one's. Pinol does have a car show every year on San Pablo avenue. Thanks for the history that is something I never knew. I would have thought they would have film it in San Francisco being there's was a lot of pool hall's there and just about every small town in between.

Normally 4th st in San Rafael is a two 2⃣ way st....they made it one way for the 🎥...then they made it the other way...at least in 72-73 it was 2 way....not sure about now :);)

It was also pleasant to see a nice looking lady. Not so many gals wear 1950's dresses nowadays. Gotta get a DeLorean to throw my ass back in 1955. Thx babe.

I’ve always wondered about the actual people . Are there photos of the real John Milner, Terry Fields etc. ?

    • @elainecollins7077
      @elainecollins7077 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Paul Le Mat /John milner has two Facebook pages. He takes the time to respond to all replies and puts up at least two posts a day. A great guy and fantastic that you can interact with him. 👍

Do you mean the actors who portrayed Milner, Toad, etc? Those characters are fictitious. However, they were based on the differnt stages that director, George Lucas went through during his teenage years. The fact that some believe the characters in the film were real probably has to do with the amazing abilities of the 3 screenwriters and the young actors.

@@markybgoode Wow, I thought they were real people because at the end of the movie they showed what happened to them. Terry Fields missing in action. John Milner killed in 1964. I always thought they were real people played by Paul Lemat , Charles Martin Smith etc

According to George Lucas, all of the main male characters in the screenplay are based on George Lucas, himself, at different stages in his life.
