Union Limited Zambezi July 2001 - 12AR and 15F

- In July 2001, the Union Limited ran a trip from South Africa to Zimbabwe as part of the Zimbabwe Steam Festival. Locomotives 12AR 1535 and 15F 3016 hauled the train from Johannesburg northwards towards Zimbabwe. We join the trip at the Capital Park service stop and follow it to Warmbaths.

Thank you for posting this excellent footage. In 2011 I was fortunate to have taken the Pride of Africa for a day but unfortunately it was not pulled by a steam engine at the time.
That still must have been an amazing experience!
@@steamfreak absolutely it was the most amazing day's ride, sitting in absolutely luxurious armchairs in the rear Observation Car at the rear of the train as we moved slowly out of Cape Town with the magnificent backdrop of Table Mountain, yet at the edge of the track were the slum areas who live a totally different life. The restaurant cars of which there are two are magnicently appointed with the finest quality crockery and cutlery with the most superb South African wines to add to the cuisine and ambience making each meal a memorable occasion indeed. So much more to say!

@@TrevorStaats yes by all means do so. It will add to your appreciation of the trains that you have so magnificently filmed. I was in South Africa in Jo'burg and Cape Town in 1984 and apart from seeing a line of steam locos at Germiston I did not see any other steam locos and my passion for them has been reignited however and I have certainly enjoyed some of the footage presented on TH-cam by you and others.
