  • Spear of the impaler is a Shadow of the Erdtree DLC spear acquired from killing Messmer the Impaler. This build very strong for invasions and is designed to face multiple enemies at once. PVE will also be easy as we can utilize the blasphemous blade when needed. I killed Messmer on this character using the Nagakiba with double slash AoW and bloodflame blade enchant with not much difficulty.
(Forgot to mention this in the video but if you use a different starting class than I did you can leave strength at 14 for one hand or you can drop to as low as 10 strength for only two-handing. You do have the option to dual wield another great spear to take advantage of its move set the reason I chose not to is to keep weight much lower as well as to more-so focus on abilities in order to keep the playstyle really flashy and oppressive.)
This character in the video is RL 165 which allows us to invade the large group of players at RL 150.

You should add either the rakshasas armour fit increases damage to both you and enemies) or some of the fire knight armour I think one of the unique helmets also increases its damage aswell I believe

really good call on rakshasas armor most enemies will die before they can even fight back with that set equipped. Also the helmet is the "Winged Serpent Helm" it does enhance fire knight skills by 10%. I forgot to mention but I tested this a bunch of times and did see a damage increase with the Winged Serpent Helm. Rellana's set looks clean with the spear but the most optimal set seems to be the combination of the Winged Serpent helmet with rakshasas armor pieces. Thanks for the helpful comment i appreciate it

Wait so rl 165 is optimal for pvp? I kind of got worried i won't be able to find any matches after leveling a bit over 150. Thanks for the video btw!

RL 165 allows us to invade players who are RL 150. A lot of people are playing the DLC at this level and it is very active I get instant invasions every time I have tried to invade since DLC launch on this character. The optimal / meta pvp level that would be the most active on paper will still be RL 125 and you can sacrifice points in some categories to run this build on RL 125 (it will play perfectly fine just leave the 60 vigor, the minimums you need and make changes like dropping faith to 25 in order to just run golden vow and flame grant me strength or even 20 and use +5 faith talisman to buff). Tons of Options and you can try starting at RL 125 or even RL 150 and completely have the freedom to play at or move to different common level brackets based on the experience you're looking for. also thx for the nice comment, i appreciate you watching!

How does it do against bigger bosses with more poise

some of them the damage can be extremely high but it can leave you vulnerable considering the small punish windows in the DLC (for example the sunflower boss the combo was doing like 40% of its hp). blasphemous blade will still overall be the stronger fire weapon to boss with especially on the bigger enemies. The spear is best used in pvp or while clearing enemies like the fire knights for example they have really high hp and can be very annoying but all you have to do is hit them with the first part and they will be caught in your spear combo until dead. Also the spear throw will stagger and when combined with one or two pokes most areas are easy to clear without needing flasks

The only reason it ends up strong in pve as well is the flexibility of being able to use the blasphemous blade or even something like bloodflame raptor talons/nagakiba to kill bosses fast. The spear itself though yeah it isn't too optimal to boss with its better as a situational swap
