This song really captures the essence of the movie. The college life, them living in the dorms and studying for exames..truly a great song for a great decade. 80s ruled.
I love this movie because its prob the most accurate college movie ive seen. Minus some of the hollywood shenanigans, this is what it's like to major in a STEM field. Hard, long study sessions and lectures, the smart kids never showing up to lectures, labs on labs, loads of pressure, wacky roomates majoring in other weird fields, and everybody going through the struggle together. Not those stupid animal house movies.
Chris Knight was the coolest mofo in all the classic 80's coming-of-age comedies. I'd even put him over Ferris Bueller. He's the class clown, the lady killer and the ultra nerd scientist all rolled into one.
So The real genius was Lazlo Hollyfeld... The smartest... He memorized that entire test which means he obviously possessed a photographic memory... Plus Lazlo hacked into the government computers to inform Chris about the use of his laser beam invention.. Grew up watching this movie on VHS... Loved it...

That said, I had my own Mitch, as my test scores were the highest in my (small) university's history, and he came along and blew mine out of the water. He even had a lot of Mitch's mannerisms. So in that respect, I was more like Chris. Just as one for instance, when he took his Math GRE while still quite young his was perfect, which for the Math GRE is super rare, a few people nationwide is all.

I love the boom boxes used to record lecture- classic. Remember when we had textbooks? I love textbooks and chalkboards. Remember when school took place in a building with teachers and other students? Ahhh, the 80’s!
My biggest issue with the movie.... "Is that liquid nitrogen?" 1. It isn't liquid. 2. It isn't nitrogen 3. It is clearly dry ice / solid CO2. Later in the film Knight does refer to his laser fuel as CO2 which is accurate. Still love every second of this movie!

I think people lived in a bubble where everything seemed good then when 9/11 happened everyone started to panic, ever since then the news has been nothing but "the world is bad and scary" . Not to mention how much technology has taken over since then, and not in the ways we predicted it would.

Behind Mitch are boxes of Donkey Kong and Cracker Jack cereal. Both were discontinued between the time the movie was filmed and its release.
