The issue is this is basic Nicaraguan law so not an unusual situation for a movie, but just how things are done there every day. Their system is backwards, where even when the cause of an accident is a drunk driver who loses their own life, that liability is not applied, and the government allows the driver-at-fault's family to extort the no-fault party.

As an attorney, their whole justice system is shockingly inept. They basically encourage extortion and have no personal liability in their judicial system. In first world nations, no way could a drunk driver's family be encouraged to legally extort the drunk driver's victim, while the government holds the victim hostage. Having a full understanding of the legal and the medical systems of any nation one travels to, or more importantly, moves to, is crucial.

She and her husband moved from living comfortably in Canada to a third world country in hopes for a better, healthier, more natural and real way of life. Of course they understand that there were risks but how could anyone ever dream of a situation like this happening?
This is such a horrendous situation for you, Harrison and the family. Why didn't the police take into account that the person in the crash was drunk and was at fault . Or is it a corrupt system. It's awful - on top of you being so ill as well.
I hope you and Harrison are okay and getting therapy for such a traumatic event.
Please find someone that will make this a documentary
I just want to send you love and wish you peace
❤
Thank you
💕
Misses you.
"Mediation" with one party in jail is a ridiculous scam.
Justice is a very fragile thing, isn't it? Looking forward to the rest of the story. Hope you're monetized on here...
Yes it is, at least they settled with Franklin’s family. I’m guessing that they didn’t want to face a Criminal trial. Now they can get everyone on here to contribute to their go fund me and they can make a profit off of Franklins death as well.
This is a nightmare
❤
Why did Michelle make you go to the police station? Wasn't she working for you. Here you were ill.
Wowww that's insane
What an extreme ordeal. Auto Insurance wouldn't cover this. Wow.
You poor thing. You do seem very nervous in this video. Take care of yourself 🩷
So stressful
Is it over now. Where is your husband
3-5 years time when you’re not at fault and the other person was drunk and cause the accident it just crazy
The mother should mhave bowed down to you. Of course shes going to BB e super nice. Shes probably making more money off an accident that her son caused then shes ever had in her life. How backwards.
Absolutely! It makes me crazy.
4 hrs to open a bank account? I wish you could've video'd every convo & translated to see who was suspicious thruout this traumatic experience. I don't blame you for not wanting to fork over $$ sans signature. I'd have been hard pressed to not start threatening counter suits for mental duress. Such unrighteousness.
My heart goes out to you & your family BUT - how FRICKEN DARE his family put you al through all this?? The guy that died was DRUNK, DRIVING FAST & NO HELMET??? They should be paying YOU. What EVIL people!! IF he was a drunk, it was his FAMILY that created his pain he felt that's how he should "deal" with life! I SOOOO want to share this as a warning both to people driving in Nica (especially because most accidents involved motorcycles) but I'm petrified for my own safety. Take care & keep healing (& PLEASE do more inner work on what the ROOT CAUSE is of your stomach things are about as whether we believe it or not - the Emotional (our history - ESPECIALLY our first 6 years) DOES affect the physical!! It's what Chinese Medicine which is thousands of years old is about. My "bible" for over 35 years has been Louise Hayes "You CAN Heal Your Life". If you don't want to do it for yourself - do it for your kids as they DESERVE a HEALTHY mom!!! Take care!
I am so mad that you gave them money, when it was that idiot's fault when he crashed with your husband. I don't think they where due any damages if any damages were due it was to you and your family.
I'm confused. If you don't want to talk about it and it causes you anxiety then why are you making videos right now? Why not wait until you can talk about it
Finally part 10 of 99 ... right on schedule to finish the story around March 😒
People have real lives and jobs and stuff outside of TH-cam. Especially when theirs had to get put on hold and was derailed for a while. And doing something that makes you anxious can be a process. Think for a sec?
You must be single with that personality.
@betsybabf748 im actually married for 10 years now and my husband thinks I'm hilarious. 😉
@ryanvanwag21 yeah we have lives too and believe it or not I invested in this story I've been here since the first video and I have a life too I just think there has to be a less painful drawn out way to get her story out. Maybe I want to donate money or resources maybe I want to bring awareness to the corruption clearly taking place ?

I will never travel south of the border again.
