Be careful with carry on bags. We had decided to pay and check bags for our group of 4 in to 2 suitcases. Glad we did, because we saw at the gate they made people try to fit their carry on in these and they wouldnt fit, even though they swore they were the at or under the required measurements, they were forced to pay a check bag fee to get on the plane. I had measured my carry on that i initially planned to take and it was under but i dont think it wouldve fit.

what was the size of your carry on bag? i have a 46L backpacking bag i was wondering if yours was around the same
By what you showed us, I'm pretty sure your bag could have fit the requirements of a personal piece (in other words: free carry on!)
