Yup. Currently facing a class action lawsuit over ripping people off with baggage fees. Incentivizing agents with kick backs of charging fees. Then, there are the accusations those "check your bag here are smaller at the gate than in the lobby. Plus, if it doesn't fit on its own, pay up. Frontier can die and go away.
Thank you for making this video... I was on the road to failing my personal item bag, my son was not being unintentionally misleading when he said that I could take an "unstuffed" duffle bag. Well, I was getting carried away & I was stuffing it. But me not wanting to go thru unwanted embarrassment & downfall at the airport, I searched on TH-cam & your video was one of the first ones. Again thank you!!
Thank you sir. You're a life savor. I will be traveling to join a university and I was confused what each specified item means. Now I get it, thanks again🙏
My uncle frequently flies Frontier and convinces people to break the wheels off their luggage to make it fit... cause a new bag is $40, and a fee at the counter is $99 for a bag that doesn't fit. Additionally the reason they check every bag is the gate agent get a $10 cut per bag from the $100 Frontier wants.
Actually for price & amenities I think Southwest best of all! I love picking my own seat, scouting out who are the best skinny, quiet seat mates. Rather than being assigned a fat sweaty guy or 3 screaming, seat kicking kids around me. I'll take Southwest over just about any carrier 🤷♀️
@methemonkeyking Southwest is 2 FREE checked bags and NO change fee and NO cancellation fee. AND anytime the price of your flight goes lower you can easily request the difference in a flight credit. THE BEST.
I ignore Frontier’s baggage sizers. My backpack won’t fit in the free “personal size” compartment. But, I know I can stuff my backpack and fit it under the seat 💺 in front of me, and that’s all that matters. I don’t pay any carry-on fees for my backpack. Fortunately, the Ticket Agents don’t hassle me about my backpack. Also, I learned not to select a specific seat. I just say that I will take whatever seat they’ll give me, to avoid paying extra for a specific seat. I’m usually traveling alone, so I don’t need to sit next to anyone in particular. I signed up for Frontier’s frequent flyer program, & indicated which seat I prefer. Surprisingly, I end up with my preference, anyway! 1 MONTH UPDATE: NOW, the Ticket Agents are trying to hassle me about my backpack! 🎒 I may have to sew myself a multi pocket jumpsuit & WEAR half of my belongings! LOL 😆
Ya, I was gonna say "it will happen" it's a gamble and when you get called out it costs $100 not the $60 .. I paid extra for takeoff luggage so I know it fits.. 👍
Sorry to tell you that Frontier checks EVERY bag from EVERYBODY. They give you Zone 1 if you paid for a bag, Zone 2 and 3 if you didn't pay. If you try to get on the plane and you don't have Zone 1 on your ticket, you WILL get turned back to pay $99.
Need to actually measure the box after passing security. New lawsuit is about the different size containers before security and after at the gate. They claim the sizes are smaller at the gate and that employees get $10 per person for which the baggage does not fit.
I read about that. I can't speak to the $10 bonus, but I can tell you that I didn't notice a difference between the box sizes before vs. after security. Anyway, thanks for watching!
I would take a photo of my personal item sized at box outside security then compare to box sizer inside security. The photo would be proof ...just in case
On my one run-in with Frontier, my personal item, a bag specifically designed to fit under an airline seat, was about 1/8 of an inch too wide because of the wheels, so they told me I had to pay for a carry on. I told them to get me a ruler so I could check to see that their bag sizer was accurate. They couldn't do that, so they let me go without additional charges. Worth trying if you're really close.
Thanks this helped me out I'm actually shelling out the extra 50 so we can get another bag on plus I just found out I get a diaper bag too so we get 3 bags plus pay for a carry on not bad in my opinion👍
Worst flight customer service Ive ever seen was with Frontier. Had literally every single person in line take off all their belongings and put them in the bag checker. Sooo many people got refused. They treated it like it was the end of the world. Will never fly that airline again. Worst experience ever. Spirit and Breeze are also cheap, and Ive never in my life heard them say 1 word to a passenger about their bag. They are so much better.
Thanks for this! Heading out in a few hours and now I know I can bring a beach bag with towels in it as they would be putting us over the 40 pound weight limit in our one piece of luggage. Their fee is up to $69 per checked bag. Ouch!
Just realized there is a 25% chance you won't make it to your destination on Frontier, so this video should also inform you how to navigate cancelations and long, angry queues at re-ticketing where the police are called in.
Wish more fellow passengers would check their baggage size. I fly from Green Bay to Orlando every winter. I'd estimate about 15-20% of people in GB trying to board have items that need to be checked, and it's a pain in the butt trying to get onboard because almost every one of them argues with the staff.
Totally agree - it really stinks to be surprised with extra fees, but it also stinks for everyone else when it slows down an already slow process! Have a good one!
I feel so duped. I got my tickets months early, and now I'm freaking out cuz my backpack is maybe half an inch too wide. I hate this. Get to wait all day wondering if they'll charge me $100 for a backpack.
Sorry to hear. But... if you run into trouble, you could pull a few things from your backpack and stuff them in your pockets. I know that sounds crazy, but it will work!
Oh my gawd. This is awful. And the baggage fees are mysterious and they should be extremely transparent about it. I imagine the lack of transparency with bags fees isn’t specific to frontier?
@@mancyclediyyeah definitely. I do but also get frustrated when things aren’t transparent and then just give up and buy the ticket. Lol. But yeah Frontier advertises low fares but when accounting for bags they aren’t low… to your point. Thank you for this. It has helped me plan my next trip in a few weeks!
@@mancyclediy no really, thank you for this informative video. I fly out next month and was really confused about the baggage policy. I won’t say more because yeah…I fly out next month. Tehe
I wouldn't mind paying a "reasonable" bag fee but holy smokes airlines. Next they will start changing a "resort fee" for something you don't use on a plane either😮😮😮
Flights are not cheap. Add $150 for seat, one checked bag and a refund if you have to cancel 24 hours before departure. Boarding is confrontational, the agents are intimidating with this new found power. I was boarding and an agent said Your carryon is too big! I had to step out of line, stick my bag in the contraption, which it fit into. She said well we have to check it anyway, but we won’t charge you. She grabs my bag, tags it and tells me to pick it up at my destination. If I had said one word, I would not have been on that flight. It was gestapo behavior. I fly 10 to 15 times a year to see my grandchildren. I will never fly Frountier ever again. They are a terrible airline.
They are fine until you actually need their help. We recently flew Frontier and ended up with Frontier canceling and stranding us overnight at the airport. Their staff were conveniently nowhere to be found...
Those crate things they have at the gate to check you bags are smaller than the demotions they tell you are allowed when you buy your ticket. We stayed within the size limit listed, but when we got there they made us put our goods in, and they didn't fit. I brought a tape measure just in case, and when they told me I had to pay the fee, I measured right in front of them to prove it was 2 inches smaller than stated on the ticket in my hand, but they refused to even look at it. So deceitful! Another man behind us had the same issue, and took the tape measure from us to try and show the gate employees. They got very upset at him and almost didn't allow him on the plain. We took pictures of the measurements, but when we tried to get any help with it, we were told there is a fine print disclaimer that they have the right to change to required size whenever they want to.
Holy cow - that's really awful. The baggage sizers were the right dimensions the last time we used them, but it has been since this video was made last summer. Your story doesn't surprise me, though, Frontier is really sneaky.

Takeoff luggage suitcase is nice too
Adding to this frustration: it's being investigated because employees are allegedly getting 10% of baggage check fees.
Yup. Currently facing a class action lawsuit over ripping people off with baggage fees.

Frontier can die and go away.
Yeah, you gotta be on your game are they will find a way to take advantage of you, that's for sure.
That doesn’t not surprise me. There has to be some reason for their aggressive behavior.
I want in to the class action lawsuit. Who do I contact?@@BobSmith-yo6ib
I hate fees but honestly is this even illegal?
Thank you so much first-time flying with Frontiers tomorrow confused with their free bag size .this helped

@truneilson That is BRILLIANT - so funny! 🤯
They raised the price of a pre -paid carry-on bag to $65. Why? because they can.
I heard the employees get $20 bounty, not $10, for gate 'oversize' bag scam. Super aggressive!
Thanks for the update. No Frontier or Southwest Airlines for me. The Dollar General Airlines of the sky.
I hear that. Absolutely.
What!!! Southwest is the best. 😂
