  • More heritage and railway nostalgia with this charming footage.
Definitely one for the steam enthusiasts! Shot in the 1990's and dedicated to the narrator, BBC broadcaster and news-man Brian Redhead,1929- 1994. Remember him on the BBC Radio 'Today Programme', and his 'Friends of the M.6. Motorway'?
This film is set among some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in Wales so is appealing on that level too. This 'great little railway' has delighted visitors since the days of Queen Victoria and is now lovingly preserved by dedicated enthusiasts. Since 1982 the line has been cleared and the trains re-established.
It is now probably one of the most popular narrow-gauge railways in Britain, carrying over 400,000 passengers a year and running a 13.5 mile main-line in miniature from coastline into the mountains.
    Enjoy the journey!
    Railway Heritage Film.
    Narrated by Brian Redhead.
produced by Julian and Stephen Gammond

I remember Brian Redhead... I met him once at Donny (Doncaster) railway works in the 80s when they had an open day there.... I took loads of numbers there.... Brian was very much a kettle head, nickname for steam enthusiasts... Very interesting guy to talk too..... Thank you so so much Jayne xxx...

There's not many on the main-stream media today that will be remembered with so much affection. Always used to listen to him and J. Timpson on the 'Today' program, Radio 4. No longer listen ......
Thank you Nigel, you were lucky to have met him. Jayne Anne x

Nothing wrong with being a 'kettle head', each to their own interests

@@Steve14ps I didn't say there was anything wrong with being a kettle head. It's a term used to being a steam locomotive enthusiast.

@@nigelbevan8449 No offence taken, I was trying to find a sketch from Dave Allen at Large in which Dave played James Watt, it ended with Dave Allen (as Watt) riding a giant kettle down the street! Alas I cannot find the link

You are very similar to me Jayne, I seldom watch television... Absolutely nothing "on the box" appeals to me... I'm not into cooking programs, reality TV, soaps, and the like.... Perhaps I'm just showing my age and being a grumpy old man Jayne xxx
