My sister was terrified of this movie and Chicken Run because of their perpetual smiling faces. Said she’d never watch another claymation movie ever again…one film she adores now is Coraline.
2006-2007 had this weird rodent obsession in media, with this ratatouille and alvin and the chipmunks, why???? why did the rodents take over??? why can't they be back in power???
The 80-90s had an American Tail, Brisby and the Secret of Nihm, The Great Mouse Detective, The Rescuers Down Under... the obsession with rodents in animated movie isn't new
You know, I didn’t notice until now about the surplus of animal movies. The HtTYD movie might have also inspired a very specific wave of something as well: The future lizard owners
Funnily enough; my friend mentioned this movie today. He said me and him have the dynamic of those two henchmen rats, the short one and the the tall white one
I have a personal Mandela Effect case with this movie. I spent around eight or nine years thinking that Message in a Bottle by The Police was in the soundtrack of this movie, & i only just recently learned that it’s not, so now i’m very confused as to why i even thought that in the first place.
I was having a conversation with my mom once, and she was barely listening. Somehow she heard me say we watched Flushed Away in school, and it was so sad my grandma had to drive to school and give me tissues. So now whenever I watch the movie I think of that.
when i was young, i passingly saw part of Flushed Away on mute at a party. that tiny fragment affected me IMMENSELY. if i had seen it in full force at that moment i would well im still a furry rn but i would just have reached that point earlier and had a far more immense focus on rats
This was an absolute STAPLE in my family when I was a kid! Id watch this with my brother and cousins all the dang time, and the amount of times we randomly start singing “Poor poor Roddy, flushed down his own potty!” is astronomically high 😂😂
Why did they give Diego a girlfriend in the fourth movie? Then again, the Ice Age movies are known to give at least one love interest per character per movie
Love how throughout the video, it was like “oh yeah, this movie turned me into a furry” nah, the combined power of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, How To Train Your Dragon, Robin Hood, and Marley & Me were what turned me into a furry lmao.
I confess that I had a strange repulsion towards this film, maybe it was the part about it taking place in the sewer, but rewatching it I realized that it was ahead of its time I really didn't expect a lot people to have a crush on Roddy.........
I literally watched this movie for the first time yesterday because someone said I looked like Roddy and now that I’ve watched this video, i guess it’s a compliment..???
I'm not sure if I ever watched more than a trailer/the opening of the film as a kid but this video has given me a crush on Roddy due to an OC of mine I had a crush on previously since they both look very similar. (EVEN THE OUTFITS LIKE WHAT-)
I remember that it was raining at our school and me and my friends decided to play hide and seek in the class but this movie was playing in the background, and i stopped playing. Let's just say, seven year old me was awestruck by Rita
Idk if im wrong but aren't they mice not rats? Still use to watch this movie dozen of times as a kid. Also I had that same McDonald's Rita toy, it came with tiny stickers that you could pull from her belt.
@@libertymartin5167 GIRL NO, why would you tell anyone in your middle school?? That's like the worst group you could possibly share that information with 😭😭

Okay I haven't watched this yet...BUT I am happy to find this. When I was 12 and 13 in middle school, I had a HUGE crush on Roddy. Absolutely loved him. Nobody understood and everyone thought it was just funny and weird. BUT. I find this!? I don't consider myself a "furry" (whatever that means?) BUT I am glad to see I wasn't alone. Really honestly, they look more like humans than rats! He was gorgeous and had a great personality! :) I am now 29 and I still love him, lol.
First? Anyways, onto a comment of more substance lol! I've- never seen Flushed Away before, but now I think I legally will have to within the next 5 years Anyways, your voice is lovely!
I've always liked this movie ever since it came out. I like how they made it look like a certain stop motion style (I'm not trying to be cheeky I just forget what it's called) and Rita is definitely the hotness.
Yeah, I am on the Le Forg train. Had a toy of him as a kid, anyways, and he was always my fave. Gay for him because moustache and french stereotypes are hot despite being inaccurate (plus I'm a furry for basically any species, ironically moreso anything besides the furry ones with some exceptions.)
I saw Flushed Away in theaters. It's one of the only good things to happen in my fifteenth year of life. I had a shitty adolescence. Pun not intended. Well maybe a little.
Flushed Away is an allround good film. The main character is hateable enough so you don't feel too bad when bad things happen to him, but you quickly see he has enough virtues to where you want to root for him. The villain's scheme is mostly original, but it gets even funnier when you realise it was also a Pinky and the Brain scheme at one point. Look it up: they had an episode revolving around everyone flushing their toilets at the same time. Anyway, Flushed Away's also a standalone story, something that doesn't need a sequel or prior viewing, despite some fun references. Speaking of which, quoting the film: "I'm upset now." All those comments, all those screenshots, and not a single one pointed out the funniest callback in the film? For shame. Which bit is that, you ask? Right at the beginning, right? When Roddy's picking out his costumes, there's a bright yellow and black one he tosses. Younger viewers might not recognise it, but that's not a random costume: that's Wolverine's costume. Not used in the live action films but was used in the cartoons (90's X-Men especially). They made an X-Men reference for Hugh Jackman, who played the live action Wolverine. And the kicker: the main villain is voiced by the guy who played live action Magneto. Insert Doofenschmirtz meme here.
i have some things to say: 1. The movie is underrated as hell 2. I watched the whole thing this New Year and remember that there was one (1) thing that diappointed me... THE SONG. WHERE IS IT. Idk if it exists in english but I only watched this for the funny song that my elder brother used to love singing, and as kids my siblings & I would change lyrics for it to be about my brother because for some reason we loved to associate him with rats (idk). Later my sister told me the song was only in the trailer 😭 3. I forgor 4. This video was absolutely great 5. Ritas red hair and this- idk what the color is called, but the shirt make her remind me of the roblox girl bacon (iykyk) 6. Yes, the rats are hot. Both of them. Nah, more thn that actually, this video made me develop a crush on them.
when I was a really young kid like 4 years old or something, I saw the first 30 minutes of this movie and never thought of it again, thought it was a fever dream, but then I found this video and oh my god it was real
i love tonka’s voice and the movie reviews are always funny but GOD i hate how this animation looks THE SLUGS CREEP ME OUT. WHY DO THEY HAVE TEETH?? WHAT’S GOING ON WITH THEIR MOUTHS????????
This movie was my introduction to tom jones. He now occasionally haunts me. Also, the henchmen rats were my favourite part of the movie. Still are tbh.
Finding a character hot doesn't make you a furry; joining the furry fandom does. If I had known sooner that being a furry is a choice, ir would have saved me a lot of trouble with my identity.
The real question is if I became a furry because the rat was hot, or did I find the rat hot because I was a furry..
Both, at the exact same time
This is what Greek philosophy used to be like
The Flushed away paradox
Kind of a chicken or the egg situation
Whether or not you're a furry has nothering to do with finding an anthro character hot, it's joining the furry dandom.
My sister was terrified of this movie and Chicken Run because of their perpetual smiling faces. Said she’d never watch another claymation movie ever again…one film she adores now is Coraline.
Technically she’s right, Coraline is stop motion animation, not claymation
👆🤓
I mean yeah, Coraline is not claymation, it's stop motion made with puppets :)

You know, I didn’t notice until now about the surplus of animal movies. The HtTYD movie might have also inspired a very specific wave of something as well:
The future lizard owners
Not a lizard, but can confirm. I own a big black salamander and it kinda looks like Toothless.
Funnily enough; my friend mentioned this movie today. He said me and him have the dynamic of those two henchmen rats, the short one and the the tall white one
Inquiring minds want to know: Which one is which??
Why does the rat look like young David Tennant
I'd say David Tennant just looks like a rat. A sexy rat, but a rat nonetheless
I have only watched this movie once, and all I remember from it is the rich rat main character, and the overweight rat having disgusting toes
Flushed away is a cinematic masterpiece. Better demonstration of class dynamics than saltburn and it has rats.
I think it's unfit to refer to this as British Rattatouille when it is clearly Dreamworks' Great Mouse Detective
Mice and Rats are different you FOOL!
What about Aardman? This movie has their mark all over it.
I mean he does look a little bit like Rishi Sunak tho💀 (something that gets pointed out on tiktok all of the time)

I loved flushed away as a kid, we watched it as often as we went to church. At least every week.
i'd go to church if they played flushed away
Man, I just watched VeggieTales and read Big Nate comics on the way there. I can't imagine watching this movie every time I went there
