Out of all the videos I’ve watched, on split wishbones, not one ever mentioned the alternative frame mounting, helping with turning radius. I’ve been contemplating my front suspension for awhile now, I’ve got the parts. Awesome amount of knowledge, thanks!!
Thank you so much. I appreciate that. I’m just a. Regular guy doing regular guy things. I’m happy to voice my way through things if it helps others doing the same things. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks Don ! I appreciate that and I hope you can take something away from the video. I don’t think I give myself enough credit… I don’t often post “how to” videos. In the fear that I’ll be wrong. So I’m happy people can use what I’ve shown on their projects. That’s a good feeling. Mike
Very Nice Video Mike like how you show and explain all the steps to do all this stuff you need to know and why and also how to do it right !To make a safe well build hot rod . so your viewers can have a good inside into how to do their build !Thanks Mike !! A good series of videos for a start to a roller or more hot rod car !!! Keep them coming !!
Thanks John. I appreciate that very much. It’s great people can take these things and apply them to their cars. Helps get them back on the road ! That’s the best part.
Hey Mike, great job, that engine is definitely a 60s engine, crank case breather under the intake manifold, center dump exhaust manifolds , small crank damper and generator all 60s parts , Nice 👍 383 or 327 and short water pump
I had to stop watching the video and say You are the first person I have heard speak about the benefits of how the wishbone mounts are placed. You gave a very good explanation for how it was better. I can certainly appreciate the thought about turning radius, I bought a Mustang with wider than normal front rims which limits turning radius. There are occasions when I would enjoy more available turning radius.
Thank you 🙏🏼. I’m happy the info and the video will help people. I love hearing that and it will help a lot of people get their rides rolling and back on the road ! Where they belong ! Thanks Ron Mike
It’s great people can take some of the things I show in my videos and apply them to their projects. That’s very rewarding and it helps get more of these old cars back on the road. Pretty cool ! Thank you btw. Planning an update soon on the “plan” for the roadster.
Thank you for the update - you'll have that done in no time ------ Looking good --- and thanks for the tip on setting wishbones to the inside of frame ---- Rodney
Mike thanks for going over the wish bone spit and showing us how to change the angle on the arms. This will help me with my dragula build which once the weather breaks here I will be on to.
Mike this old hot is coming along great you have come a long way’s yourself keep up the good work I watch you every episode thanks for doing the hotrods can’t wait for you to start on the roadster
Thank you so much. It’s really coming together. I’m hoping a few more weeks worth of work and it’ll be “done” as far as I’ll take it. I hope the next owner will finish it in the same fashion it’s started.
Very well explained video .Your videos are enjoyable to watch . I'm done building , getting too old , these videos are the next best thing . I watched you unloading the 32 video , I hope you build it .
Just had a quick look and I’ve sent this straight to Liam. Mike thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge. I have my fingers crossed that you stumble on some history on the 32. Take care. Cheers Tim.
Really glad that you changed the name of this project! :) I was thinking earlier that it sure was deserving better. haha I enjoyed this episode a lot as I have them all. Brought back memories of doing the same thing building my AV8 roadster. Great job getting the SBC in already. That's a good choice I think. Oh, speaking of motors, my guess is the motor you are thinking about for your new deuce is an early Olds or Caddy. Probably not but that's what I'd do. haha Thanks Mike, looking forward to the next one!
I’m getting ready to build the split wishbone mounts on my 27 T Touring on a Model A frame (check it out on my AJStarch channel… shameless plug😂) and like others have pointed out, you’re the first person I’ve seen to point out the turning radius benefit of mounting them to the inside of the bracket. I’ll be doing that now, thanks!
I wouldn’t keep making cuts up the tubes. One location to get the angle is all I would do. Unless you were tig welding and metal finishing. There’s really no need
I like the new name! Sorry but I lost track of the axle pedigree. I assume the wishbones are stock to that axle. That bracket flip is Hot Rod free info! Thanks Can't unsee those blue underwear LOL
The axle is a stock Model A axle and wishbone. I like to use the A wishbones whenever possible. They’re shorter and work perfectly for a small hotrod. My undies 🤦🏼♂️ sorry bout that ! I never realize things till editing … oops
I beveled the edge of the end of the tubing the tiniest bit. I left a 1/16 inch space around the bung / tube end also to weld them. Not to mention who said I smoothed them ? I never did , because I didn’t smooth them.
Dude more working and less talkin. If I wanted to hear someone talk I would stay inside the house with my wife. I don't want to be rude but come on man! LOL!

Doing a great job on this car Mike. No longer a garbage can!
Thanks Tony !
No sir it is not. 👍🏼. Turning into a fine automobile … okay maybe not “fine”. But an okay automobile 😎
Great vid!!! 👍👍
Ya buddy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎
Nice job Mike and KOOL Part off the story about the 32
Thanks John !
This build is cool, but I sure can't wait to see what you do with that 32. Thanks for the continued content.
Thanks rich. I’ve got to get the 34 5 window finished up first. But I’ll get yo the roadster. It takes up less space stacked up. Lol.
Actually the first time I have seen this done. Congratulations on your new purchase.
Thanks Don ! I appreciate that and I hope you can take something away from the video.

Sweet nicely done!! It’s the old way of doing things nice to see🤗
That’s how I like to do things. It’s easier and gets things done. 😎🙏🏼
Hey Mike, great job, that engine is definitely a 60s engine, crank case breather under the intake manifold, center dump exhaust manifolds , small crank damper and generator all 60s parts , Nice 👍 383 or 327 and short water pump
It was removed from a 1960 Impala Sport Coupe. Orig motor. 283 w 2spd PG 👍🏼 great little hotrod motor.
@@ThisOldHotrod fits the bill, should run pretty darn great

Mike Great video I can't wait for each update 🙌
Thanks Dave ! I appreciate the support 🙏🏼
Mike glad you explained how you mount your wishbones the way you chose is certainly different. Thanks for sharing your technique.
Thanks for following along and got the kind words.
I’m building a model a rod and I learned a lot on this video. Thanks so much. And again congratulations on the 32 can’t wait for the build of it

You’re very welcome. Thanks for following along.
Nice work
Thanks Knut !

That’s great. You’re very welcome. I’m glad people can take what they need and apply it to their builds.
Hi Mike.
That's a great and simple tip about the wishbone placement. It makes perfect sense.
I'll be doing that to my T now. Thanks for sharing.
You’re very welcome. Thanks for the kind words and for following along.
Thanks Mike for the video.
Thank you Doug ! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great video Mike lot of people have questions on how to do that and that explains it perfectly
Thank you 🙏🏼
The 32 is awesome! Thanks for all you do…
Thanks so much !
Great info. Tu
Thanks !
Great sermon brother Mike. 🙏😁 Wooooooo 😉✌
Haha 😁 the preacher

You would be correct regarding the motor choice. I’ll be doing a roadster update video when the sedan is out of the shop. Few weeks 😎👍🏼
A drop axle does not change the location of the wishbone attachment point!
It raises the kingpin spindle mounts
I never said it did. It does change the location of the mount when you have to split the wishbone to mount on the underside of the frame rails.
I'm going to be building a similar car. 27 topless coupe on an A chassis. Finally getting into the roots of hot roding
@@farfromdonemotors6796 Cool! Are you going to build it on your channel?
Good luck on your build 👍🏼👍🏼 glad this video and info helps you !
Build that '32 dream.
I will. Just not yet. I’ve got the 34 to do. It can wait 👍🏼
I was surprised you just kept opening up the second slice. I would have thought just making more slits. Would that work and look right
I wouldn’t keep making cuts up the tubes. One location to get the angle is all I would do.
Unless you were tig welding and metal finishing.

I'm running the Hobart 135 with roller problems. The way yours sounds To me it's the 145 how do you like it.
My welder is a Hobart 210. I love it. I had issues w my 145 and moved it along.
I’d spend the extra money and get the 210.
Nice hall to
Thank you 🙏🏼 👍🏼👍🏼
Don't bevel your weld butts and build with material fill than smooth for more strength, why???
I beveled the edge of the end of the tubing the tiniest bit. I left a 1/16 inch space around the bung / tube end also to weld them.
Not to mention who said I smoothed them ?
I never did , because I didn’t smooth them.

I work more than most people. If I want to talk I’ll talk. You don’t want to listen. Don’t.
