    I remember when I first started riding true powder- it was like learning how to snowboard all over again.

    You're really finding your stride in terms of editing, narration, and filming. The videos are getting better and better! As a lot of snowboard vlogs evolve into travel and lifestyle vlogs, it's always nice to have videos like this that are easily relatable and useful.

    Jealous of all the powder you guys get. Finally had my first opportunity to get into a LITTLE last weekend. Had to seek it out. From the lift we spotted some untouched powder about 6-8 inches deep. I was surprised just how much it bogs you down. Thankfully I knew from watching all you guys that I had to shift my weight back. It was SO much fun tho. After that we kept hitting all the powder we could find on the sides. Its way more of a surfy feeling and definitely more forgiving to fall in. Keep the videos coming. Enjoy! 🤘

    Good beginner tips man. Good call out too at the end, riding powder smooth and effortless without falls only happens after many hours of falling and hiking and digging yourself out to learn it first. 👍

    Great tips, Chris! Riding in powder usually sucks all the energy out of me...haha. But floating on the snow (even if it's just once) makes it ALL worth it! :-D

    Well made points at the end there! My first powder attempt (cutting across the flat top section of highway 86 to get back onto peak to creek on whistler) did not go well! Had no speed and sank almost straight away and it was DEEP! Sank well past my knees and I learnt the hard way just how much work it is to get out of such a situation! Then I had my first cool little powder run on Ridge runner down to the round house and you are so right a couple of those floaty feeling turns and I was hooked! (Man I miss whistler And i was only there 10 days) Then spent the rest of my trip looking for those little pockets near the side and exactly where you say between the runs. I like that this vid takes a very realistic approach for large number of boarders like myself who only get a handful of days in a year and good to see the occasional vids from you guys that shows stuff that is doable for us less experienced riders. So epic vids of crazy drops and trees on what to aspire to and these cool tutorial and tips on how to realistically try and get there!

    What a day at Whistler! And not many people around either, super jelly! Thanks for this video, very helpful! I sturggled so much on our last day at Whistler in Jan because it was bucketing down snow the whole day and I had no idea how to ride in powder, kept falling over or losing speed. I'll use these methods next season :D

    Honestly I think most of that powder wouldn't be too different than a normal run. I rode for years thinking that I knew what powder was like. Then one day I drove up to a ski resort during a record blizzard... It wasn't until I found myself in knee/thigh/waist deep powder that I realized that I needed to learn how to change my riding... I don't think your riding really changes too much until you're completely floating in it and no longer pressing against the hardpack. I still remember beginning that day thinking "I'll have no problems on this blue" and subsequently getting stuck for like 20 minutes 😂 I'm surprised they didn't call the ski patrol on the powder-newb stuck in the middle of a blue run trying to fish himself and his board out of the snow 😂

    Really good video for beginners! Most videos just tell you about where to put your weight, etc, whilst showing guys bombing through huge tree runs, but as someone said below, this is much more relatable for a lot of us. Great tips on where to try your first dips in to powder. I did exactly this on my very last run on my last trip, about 10m cutting through between two groomers, and it was amazing - that's all it took to get hooked 😉 But unfortunately won't be able to try again until next season 😭

    My Noob Tips: Watch for powlines next to the groomors from the chairlift. And if u fall or slowed down too much, strap out and take a little hike. Progression comes by try and error, not by talking xD

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard people learning to drive don't take do any theory. It's better to just take your car on the highway and see what happens. Different people learn different ways, obviously youre a kinesthetic learner (learn by doing). But some people like to understand what's happening first. Different strokes for different folks

    • @nooboard
      @nooboard 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisEyres do not misunderstand me. I learnd the most by watch vids like these. I am still noob and will be noob my whole life. Just saying that the try and error thing is very important to find the gray line where fails make progression happen.
      The main thing i was talking about was the spotting. And btw the Bunnyhill in few resorts i know have rideable pow after snowfall and sidehits, walls and banks. I often think that some people spend too much time assslipping steep runs instead of playing on the easy hill. But u are right everyone has his own learning concept and should listen to bis body, which i sometimes forget. ;)
      Btw sorry for my bad english, it's not my native. :/

    Great vid Chris, should I move my bindings back one set if you are running powder? I have a K2 Subculture and a Libtech pickle.

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on how deep the snow is, over 15-20cm I'd recommend giving it a try and see if you notice it. If you do change the rear binding angle closer to 0 (between 0 and -9)degrees too. Just don't forget to change back

    Hey Chris, do you set back your stance for powder on the TRP?

    • @ChrisEyres
      @ChrisEyres  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maybe - I haven't, it handles the powder very well considering I ride it centered and if it's too deep for the TRPro I should be on my powder board
