To make clear for everyone: Manny is the father in the cave painting. His wife and son were trapped and Manny was forced to wach how his family was killed. In the last frame we can see Father mammoth scream and they would not made that scene if it wasen't Manny. First scene where Mannys first child saw the hunters coming and tried to escape, but Manny could not save them. In Ice age wiki, there is page that is Manny's son.

Yes, they were his first mate and child. This sad fact isn't well-known because the sequels kinda glossed over it, but it was always his first mate/son that he lost, which is one reason he takes it upon himself to save and care for Roshan, because he misses his own baby. ;;

The cave pictures are wrong because as far as I can see in the visual, the father is fighting with people, the mother and her child are running away, but they are stuck aside, unfortunately the mother cannot escape, but the child, Manny, is left behind. So, if Manny was the father in the cave pictures, if he had fought with people, he would not be in this situation right now.
