Nice to see someone talk about the contents of a comic and not the state of the cover. Some Well known artist with a vastly different style in this sellection. Please give us more.
Thanks for actually loving comics! Now it seems the “comic community” is all about money and not the comics themselves. It is nice to find a fellow lover of actually reading the comics and not entombing them all in plastic! Great show.
Recently found your videos on here. I love your appreciation for the actual stories and writers/artists. So great to see someone sharing their love of comics and making it all about investments and returns. Great videos.
On that Action Comics #1, it helps to remember that at that moment in time, they were reimagining the Superman/Batman relationship. I'm pretty sure that the only other meeting Batman and Superman had met was in the Man of Steel miniseries, and they had chosen to officially dispense with the World's Finest/best friends vibe, so there was a lot of "where is this relationship going?" energy going in. The story delivered at the exact level it needed to.
Since you and I both like Art Adams. I fell these books are pretty underrated. And they are commonky priced at 3 to 10 bucks in very fine to almkst near mint condition in a rsaw copy. New Mutant Special Edition #1:: Part one of a 2 part crossover with X-men Annual #9 both drawn by Art Adams. These books are also minor keys. Mirage leader of the New Mutants becomes a Valkyrie. It begins the Asgardian Wars storyline. X-Men Annual #9 first reasons listed above. X-MEN Annual #10 :: First appearance of the X-Babies. As well as introduces Longshot to the X-Men. X-Men Annual #12:: Just a fun read with an awesome Art Adams cover. All of these books are some of Art Adams best work. I am an artist myself. And have sold at conventions here in Northern California where Art is often a guest artist. I had him personally sign my copy of X-Men Annual #10. Since it was the only thing I wanted him to sign he didn't charge me for it.
I totally agree with you about the Art Adams stuff ESPECIALLY the Asgargian Wars issues. That is one of my favorite storylines that I never hear about. Annual 10 and 12 are both a lot of fun also! Thanks for the great feedback!!!
Dude, that Action Comics Annual 1 was also one of my all time favorite comic books. I read that thing over and over. Fell in love with Arthur Adams and bought everything he worked on after I found that.
I just recently picked up Action Comics Annual #1. I’m glad to see that I am starting pick up some good stuff, as I am a relatively new collector who tries to find these hidden gems.
Rock and roll. The whole reason I make these videos is because there was nothing like this when I was a new collector. A list of very good comics that aren't too expensive, but just happen to be overlooked. Thanks for the comment and happy hunting!!! Also, Action Comics Annual #1 is so very enjoyable. What a great comic book!!!
That Batman Judge Dredd crossover is one of my favourites. I always figured Dredd never really caught on in the states because his gun was to small. Didn't they do a sequel to this one?
Yes they did! Bisley did NOT do the art, but I really liked it regardless. "Die Laughing" was the name of it. Fabry did some of the art in the first issue (there were two). Thanks for the great feeedback!
Thanks for the comment! The first thing that comes to mind when I think Action Comics from the 70's is Neal Adams. I don't have all of them , but I really enjoy the ones I do have. Even without Adams, Action lead DC's path to superheroes in the '80's. I like every single one that I have. Many more are on my "shopping list". Thanks again!!!
@@thecomicsamurai Thanks. I have every Action comic from Jan 1970 to Dec 1979. I buy them to read and hold on to but I was just wondering if there are any in that collection that are considered 'special'. Let me know if you hear anything ;) Curt Swan is my Superman artist.
1st time viewer I loved this video. Subscribed can't wait to check out the channel. Really liked your knowledge and approach with each book. That Thanos and Mephisto cover is amazing
That Spider-Man Annual with She Hulk was a top ten key collector spec book about a month and half ago. When the She -Hulk show was in the middle of its run. Your late to the party on covering this book. So its no longer a hidden gem. Adventure Comics with Death Of Batman probably wasn't canon. So know one cared. The reason no one talks about X-Men vol 2 annual #1 is because of the fact Jim Lee did the layouts. The book was false adverstising. Because it duped Jim Lee fans and comic collectors at the time into buying the book only to find out he only did the lay outs. So it ended up being dollar bin fodder ever since.
I'm definitely looking for that Action annual #1 this weekend. The reason no talks about the death of golden age Batman is because the art is just do horrible.
I would argue that the art in Knightfall (where Batman gets his back broken by Bane) has worse art, but is still talked about. I think no one talks about Golden Age Batman's death because it was in a lesser-known title (Adventure Comics) and it was so hokey how he died. No one even knows Bill Jensen"s name. It was such a cop out that a long-time villain didn't get to send Batman off.
The Killing Joke is great, but Bisley's art with Dredd and Bats together? Best buddy cop/horror/noir/adventure comic ever made!!! Thanks for the comment!!!

I like your enthusiasm!
Thanks!
I was able to find that action comics annual #1 at my LCS after watching this video. I loved the interior art and the story was fun! Thank you!
Rock and roll! SO glad you enjoyed it! Now THAT right there is why I make these videos!!!
Greatness video Brother!! This is a great list!! Thanks for showing the Hulk and Wolverine book. I didn’t know it existed!!
It's so good!

Great episode, definitely going to get some of the issues talked about. Keep up the good work!

Your love of the art and stories really comes thru in the video. Great video.
Surprisingly, the Wolverine/Hercules story was first printed in the UK a year earlier. Marvel Comic #335 March 1979.
Now THAT is why I'm getting into making these videos! I had no idea, thank you for sharing! I enjoy learning about the comics I love. Thanks again!!!
@@thecomicsamurai loving the enthusiasm in your videos, keep up the good work!
I better make sure I have an X-men Annual 11 so I can read it again. Great list, love the passion!
Thanks!
Don't forget that Art Adams art in Action Comics Annual #1 includes fantastic GGA.
Good Girl or BAD Girl? Skeeter gets down right sadistic by the end. Either way, Art Adams is the best in the bizz!!!
Dude, that Action Comics Annual 1 was also one of my all time favorite comic books. I read that thing over and over. Fell in love with Arthur Adams and bought everything he worked on after I found that.
I agree with and relate to every word that you typed. What a great comment!!!
Wonderful video. Definitely got me interested in a number of these
They're fun. Happy hunting!

A great vid. Requesting an all bronze age edition 1970-1986.
Thanks for the suggestion! GREAT idea!!!
It took a while, but I made a video of my favorites from that period here th-cam.com/video/z65nuZKfAxw/w-d-xo.html
A Hidden Gems video to follow!!!!
Woaaah now I can hear you! 😁😁
Yes! What a difference the right tools make. Thanks for the feedback!
Totally agree X-Men Annual 1 is under appreciated. Baffles me why it doesn’t have “classic cover” status alongside the more celebrated X-Men 11.
YES. X-men 11 is the EXACT comic I was referring to. That is an overrated cover in my opinion.
Your enthusiasm for comics is great! :) Any thoughts on Action comics from the 70's?

What a great comment! Thank you. Ron Lim will always be my Silver Surfer artist! I even like his take on Thanos better than Jim Starlin's!!!
Great picks especially Action annual 1 it's a lost classic I've seen it in many a dollar box and have turned people on to it.
Thank you! Yes, I read it every Halloween!!!
Great picks. That Action Annual was the first comic I ever bought with my "own money." Still have it signed by Art.
Nice! His is one of the few signatures I have on a Fantastic Four comic he drew.
Picked up that first comic
Thx for ur content
Soo enjoy
Nice! And let me know if you have any suggestions, I'm always on the lookout for great comics to feature. Thanks again!!!

Cool underrated comic book video. 😀👍
Thanks!
@@thecomicsamurai your welcome. 😀👍
that action comics annual taught me that Superman is vulnerable to magic/supernatural forces....
Me too! I'm surprised they don't exploit that loophole more against him. He's as vulnerable to magic as you or I.
I got x-factor #41, and 42.😀👍
They are great comics!
@@thecomicsamurai yes they are. 😀👍
I just bought Batman judge dredd this weekend and definitely better than Killing Joke. I lost it at that nut shot!
The Killing Joke is great, but Bisley's art with Dredd and Bats together? Best buddy cop/horror/noir/adventure comic ever made!!!
Thanks for the comment!!!
This was good
Thank you!
Killing batman in such a lame way should have got the creators demoted. Ha
I just can't believe it got past the editors. SOMEONE should have insisted that he deserved better.
