I met doddy a few weeks ago in Blackpool and he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.5 hours on stage and still got an awesome voice. One of The last great all round family entertainers.
I was 5 when my sister bought this for me. I loved it.I still love it! It came out in 1965 (not the '70's as indicated above). Yes Ken Dodd's a comedy genius, one of a kind, a national treasure and yes, a Knighthood is way,way overdue. Arise Sir Doddy!!! (-;
You have to say the "I feel a twerp , me Wyatt Earp with my shirt shot off o'me" is positively Shakespearan. Makes me laugh out loud, not the LOL stuff, but proper laugh every time.
This was the first record I ever bought at the age of six... worrying ... but 40 years later I used to sing it to my kids. They remember the words to this day.
I used to love this album as a kid. It was originally my Mum's, but I claimed it and annoyed everyone by playing it every day. I'm now 41 and my youngest who's 3 loves this. Incidentally, my Grandad used to work in working men's clubs and knew Ken Dodd when he performed under the name Professor Chucklebutty. We had a signed photo of him and he also gave us a green tickling stick. Love Doddy, he's one of the last great eccentric performers (and a superb singing voice) from the music hall tradition.
brilliant . played it to my 4 year old grandson and he loves it . sent me a what sap voice message at 6am this morning saying wheres me shirt . made me laugh and my day .
I come from knotty ash. And finally the squire has been knighted. Me and my sister were talking about this song today. Defo going to use weres me shirt as me ring tone
I remember this as far back as I can remember and probably longer than that.... My Dad had the 45 with half a dozen songs on it... I still know them inside out.
I can remember about fifty lines from this neglected text, but not the last line, " D'you know, I'm sure I had it when I came out .............. " ! ...................
This was the first record I ever bought from Woolworths I also bought another record with him and some little chicks on it but I can't remember what song it was on that record 😎
I used to listen to this song time and time again and I haven't heard it for years Have read others comments and was the same - I used to stare at that album cover and it made me laugh out loud Happy days ( mark 45)
My old man had an old 12 inch of this very LP when I was a kid. Used to sit in our old garage with the record player listening to it. Brilliant. Thanks for uploading.
I won't think of and look at The Garden of Eden the same again after listening to this. If you don't laugh at this and don't find it very funny there's something seriously wrong with you. It's a true always forever classic without any fail or doubt guaranteed. The Garden of Eden in a different way and very funny even with those Indians involved. How can anyone even say they don't like this.
the title of this song SHOULD really be in the Scouse dialect, thus "Where's me shert?" Plus, when I was little, I remember having a Diddymen lampshade and I'm going back to roughly 1974-78 here
Same happened to me today - with full tone and accent. I just assumed it was something my Dad used to day but Googled it on a whim. Must have stuck in my memory for nearly 60 years and then resurfaced for no apparent reason
Running to 3 minutes 30 second with orchestrations by Brian Fahey, "Where's Me Shirt?" was released by Doddy And The Diddymen in 1965 on an extended 45 by Columbia with "Tatty Bye," "Doddy And The Diddy Men Make A Record," "Old Macdonald Had A Farm" and "Wee Cooper Of Fife." An obvious novelty record from the title, if you've ever wondered why Adam was naked in the Garden of Eden, or why Napoleon failed to conquer Russia, zany comedian Ken Dodd has a rather novel answer.
Another brilliant novelty song. Big expensive arrangement. If you want to smile, put this on. Nice voice, Mr Dodd! Some Liverpool radio DJ used to play this - was it Cousin Matty?
It was Matty. I could be misremembering this, but I *think* it was the last record he ever played on Radio City, and that was the first time I heard this tune. I used to listen to that lunatic while I was doing homework, so I was sad when he left, and I taped his final show. You're right about the arrangement. The syncopation in the beat gives it this relentless rolling energy, which lends even more punch to the sections where the beat stops. It is very cleverly done.
The Garden Of Eden and listen to the lyrics of this is very funny. If you don't find this very funny there's something seriously wrong with you or your one of those Christians who have no sense of humour. This is a classic and very funny.
I've recently listened to a parallel track you must go to next. There is a track I've listened to about twenty times, it's so funny, it's a killer, but it's not up to this standard. Bernard Cribbins, Gossip Calypso - do yourself a favour ( if you'e old enough ! ) .
This song makes laugh sometimes I do feel like a Propper twotter I have a couple of days ago in general Im always embarrassed whatever it is I always feel like a twit
People who are musically illiterate think Marty Robbins El Paso is where it's at, because of Breaking Bad ! Pathetic !! The musically hip know that Big Iron is the track you are looking for. Marty did a whole album of cowboy songs, quite good for a foreigner, but if Marty was half as cool as Ken, it would have been him that was challenging the Fab Four for the number one slot so relentlessly. This track is on another planet, and I'm only going to mention one aspect - a track which goes down with folk from 6 to 60, is cool - a track which goes down with folk from 3 to 90, is very, very cool.
Sir Ken is very British, If your American you won't under stand him at all, he doesn't work abroad cos he has been full booked in the UK since around 1960 ,he used to do a 4 hour minimum one man show but since he's turned 90 he has slowed down a hit
Wow, i got this albun when i 7 years old of my mum on LP, a blast from the past
In the 1970s, my dad always used to say Where's me shirt? in a Northern accent. Now I know where he got it from!
I am 52 years old and I still remember the words! Fantastic!
Right wiff yer!
I met doddy a few weeks ago in Blackpool and he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.5 hours on stage and still got an awesome voice. One of The last great all round family entertainers.

I was born in 67, and my parents bought it for me. Still have it.
RIP Sir Ken Dodd, an absolute legend.
Just loved Doddy and the diddymen songs took me back to my childhood when we listened to them on vinyls.
You have to say the "I feel a twerp , me Wyatt Earp with my shirt shot off o'me" is positively Shakespearan. Makes me laugh out loud, not the LOL stuff, but proper laugh every time.
im a 17 year old canadian girl and i love this song and still listening to it in 2016
GranPet Epp
I am 23 and listened to this song since I was like 15 xx
This was the first record I ever bought at the age of six... worrying ... but 40 years later I used to sing it to my kids. They remember the words to this day.
bignewshound I remember every track. Wish I could get it to download for old times sake. I had the vinyl
And to think 40 years ago most people his age would be thinking about retirement whereas he never retired and had another 40 years to go.
RIP Ken Dodd.a proper legend and will be sadly missed.A very sad day
So love this song, used to listen when I was a kid
There was only one Doddy!!
I used to love this album as a kid. It was originally my Mum's, but I claimed it and annoyed everyone by playing it every day. I'm now 41 and my youngest who's 3 loves this.

How can anyone even say they don't like this.
I should think this would be fairly devastating even to somebody who had never heard the english language before !
My favourite album.....when I was 6 !
Never heard this before until recently listening to the Ken Dodd show on radio 4 extra - LOL Cant believe I found it
I was just wondering where I had put my T-shirt. I found it after a brief search, whilst thinking of this song. So, here we are. :)

You just can't have fun like this any longer, someone's going to be outraged.
You sound a bit outraged, why not just enjoy the bloody song without complaining
I had this as a kid.
:))
i still have this album, how sad is that?LOL>LOL
Thanks for this
The first album I ever owned. Had a lot of hand me downs, this, the theme from rawhide, Hank Mizell.
We had this album, and like many other commenters; one could not inquire as to the whereabouts of one’s chemise without saying “where’s me shirrrt?” 😂
RIP Ken Dodd....
I've got this on me iPod. Love it! (:
The master . Loved Doddy.
briilaint brilliant
Ken Dodd was a great comic.
the title of this song SHOULD really be in the Scouse dialect, thus "Where's me shert?" Plus, when I was little, I remember having a Diddymen lampshade and I'm going back to roughly 1974-78 here
CARDBOARD lampshade ?
I'd love a diddymen lampshade !
RIP Ken Dodd
I used to be a diddy man. I was Mick the Marmaliser. I was 7!
Which performance was this? I used to want to be a diddy man when I was 7! Very jealous
Love this song
This morning I found myself saying 'where's me shirt?' and had to use Google to find out where I remembered it from!
Same happened to me today - with full tone and accent. I just assumed it was something my Dad used to day but Googled it on a whim. Must have stuck in my memory for nearly 60 years and then resurfaced for no apparent reason

The Garden Of Eden and listen to the lyrics of this is very funny.

whoelse hears "gimme shiiit" ?
Oh, this sucks so bad. Good to see humour has moved on
I guess this must be a British thing. I don't think it's funny at all.
Sir Ken is very British, If your American you won't under stand him at all, he doesn't work abroad cos he has been full booked in the UK since around 1960 ,he used to do a 4 hour minimum one man show but since he's turned 90 he has slowed down a hit
