All memes aside, this is a REALLY good looking game (graphics-wise) despite the limitations of the NES. They managed to capture the art style of the show perfectly.
When I was a kid I tried and tried to beat this game. It wasn't easy. I actually felt like I murdered Dino and Hoppy for not ever saving them. The guilt has never left me.
The ice physics and elevator was pretty entertaining. the awesome movement optimizations and the creative waste of time during the linear sections was fun too.
Kenpachi Zaraki I assume they coded the ice to have you slide and they just exploited how it worked. I know nothing about this game other than what I've seen in this TAS.
I thought you didn't accept TASes of romhacks unless the hack made significant changes to the gameplay or levels. And yet here's a submission with a hack I've never heard of that inexplicably replaces Mario with Fred Flintstone. Are there other changes that I'm not aware of?
Hey it's Rockula and Frankenstone from that one TV special. The one where towards the beginning there's a game show host that puts deliberate emphasis on the word "Grand" and it's because he's making a pun on "Grand" as in a thousand dollars but it's still a weird example of real life foreshadowing.
It's neither. It'e Mario and Fortran's ancestor from prehistoric times, but the game's developers didn't know how to properly translate "ancestor" so they settled for "Grand Dad" instead.
Reality check: The Flintstones: Rescue of Dino and Hoppy (1991) 7 Grand Dad (1992) Conclusion: *No. The Flintstones was never a ROM hack of 7 Grand Dad.*

It was a pretty good game, but quite slow and "stocky", the movements were not as free as say, super mario bros 3. I'd say 6 out of 10.
@@123TauruZ321 it’s better than mario 7 tho, no denying that
the warping effect at 12:20 blows my mind that it runs on an NES
@davidthecommenter it's probably done similarly to the strange backgrounds from earthbound, but im not even sure if the nes can do that
The fact that there is a GRAND DAD at the first screen makes this video so worth it
I came here because I actually played this Flinstones game as a kid, had no idea what GRAND DAD was. The internet is weird.
What does that stupid stuff mean?
Me and my sister played this so much back in the day. Excellent game and amazing memories. Would do anything to go back to those times

The Grandest TAS of them all.

I've never seen a speedrun of this game or a TAS, time to see if anything fucks my mind. I can't wait.
The ice physics and elevator was pretty entertaining. the awesome movement optimizations and the creative waste of time during the linear sections was fun too.
Yeah, what happened in the ice stage? How did he move so fast? o.O
Kenpachi Zaraki I assume they coded the ice to have you slide and they just exploited how it worked. I know nothing about this game other than what I've seen in this TAS.
