I have been preaching this for years. People like to rag on Toto...why.? Because of the name? They were\are all TOP notch studio musicians who decided to form a band. They have won multiple Grammy awards. They have a bunch of great songs....and of course played all the instruments on Thriller. Human Nature is a Toto song. I haven’t even watched this video yet but I’m so happy the good Professor is finally telling the world this. Thank you sir. Much appreciated

Toto are awesome, it’s just a pity they changed styles so much. I love bobby Kimball voice in the studio, but he could not sing at all live. One of the worst singers live, whether it was too much alcohol and coke, or just singing impossibly high notes that required 50 takes, I’m not sure,

Andreas Thorsen But MJ sang it so perfectly. No one could sing it perfectly but him. He delivered it so smoothly and effortlessly. He sang it with so much heart and soul. His voice’s as smooth as silk, soothing, and calming.

@@richardkovacs2006 Yes but they don't get enough credits and appreciation, they were much more involved and should have been getting more credits (arrangements and contributing to the songwriting). So maybe Jackson and Jones were a bit greedy. But that doesn't mean that this only happened to Toto. It was more or less a culture in which musician's attributions were not measured in the way they should have been and musician's also should have been better business men.

I also can't understand. In Finland Toto is still huge with countless of fans. The guys of Toto (including Jeff, Mikey etc.) were and are absolutely great personalities; not big-headed, strangely humble despite being incredibly enormous talents, they cherish their fans, respect other musicians... There are still some critics who just can't let go. I once even read about one Finnish critic writing something like if your daughter's boyfriend listens to Toto, you should get rid of him... I love Toto, I've loved them from the end of the 1970s and I still do. So do more people than we probably even can imagine. 💖

I watched a video the other day with Susanna Hoffs and John Taylor on video chat. And Susanna was talking about how she acquired the song, Manic Monday from Prince. Although I am old enough to remember the day all of these 80s greats reached radio status, I was today's day old learning that the 80s music industry was a huge team effort. I absolutely love that we got that amazing decade of music by most if not ALL of the musicians that were helping out others along the way. They all were a gift! I will forever cherish that decade!

Rodrigo.

Record sales use to be so huge. Do record sales just suck now? I would have thought with the internet there would be no way an album from the 80's would still be the biggest seller of all time.

Millenials and Zoomers don´t buy physical media anymore, they mostly stream.
(Hell, they don´t even pirate music via torrents anymore, because they´re too dumb/lazy to do it.)
They just get a Spotify subscription with their mommy´s credit card and stream entire back catalogues for literall pennies. And Spotify and the other music streaming platforms pay the artists practically nothing. Musicians are getting screwed even worse than back in the day. That´s why Taylor Swift was so up in arms about the whole streaming revenue thing.(not that she needs any money, coming from a wealthy family who practically bought her music career, but I degress...)
The funny thing is,when Millenials & Zoomers do buy a physical copy of a music album these days, they mostly buy a classic 60s/ 70s/80s album like "Thriller" or something in that category.

Hello there !! Just subscribed ,greetings from Los Angeles California, have you done anything on how Clapton met bob Marley ? Or how he ended up putting “ I shot the sheriff “ on the map ? And opened the doors for the wailers ? Btw there’s many ppl who think Clapton wrote the song instead of Marley ..
