  • I loved my life of crime robbing trains in the Ozarks. Silver Dollar City was a blast to work at. Here's how I got my job there, and how I learned to rob (and conduct) trains, including a look at some of the training we did.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a PhotoPass photographer at Walt Disney World and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and train robber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at Silver Dollar City. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...

It amazes me how difficult it is for some people to "get it.". This is still such a fun job!

This is a little different from how I got my job... The first step is creating a time machine, the next step is grabbing a bandanna and find out some train schedules...

We have ridden the train countless times over the last several years. My littlest one is a huge train fan and would probably just ride it on a loop if we let him. Once you hear the show so often you realize many of the “mistakes” are scripted but I always love to watch and listen for new visitor laugh at the upcoming punch lines. Our favorite script is with the Yankees! “Hey, Hey, Hey!”

Several years ago, my mother wanted to go to SDC, and always wanted to ride the train. She would've been around 80 at the time. As the conductor was giving the instructions before letting everyone board the train, I believe he did a faux countdown, before saying something else. My mother took off, going as fast as she could to get on the train. The conductor asked where she was going, but she didn't hear him, and got on the train anyway. He then released everyone to board the train.

LOL My lead, Josh, loved to do that! I'd do it sometimes as well, but not as often as he did. Depending on when it was you rode, it was likely Josh that got her. :-)

That’s so cool, I became a coaster enthusiast after riding Outlaw Run in 2013 after being scared of roller coasters all my life. My family and I rode the train that day, and we loved the train. You were probably a part of it!

My aunt came down to the Ozarks the week after her son went to prison. On the train the robbers were saying something about getting out of jail and picked her to be "Mom!" It was kind of awkward for her at the time I think, but we laugh about it now.

I miss robbing all the time, it's a great time. I see they have a need for a part-time robber I want to do it but with a baby at the moment and me being the only one off on weekends I don't think it will happen. Great video great times

No. Robbery is still the same show year round, except for Christmas. Officially the park doesn't celebrate Halloween. They have fall festivals. :-)

I know there isn’t much to say, but I wish you had more videos on this process and the first couple days after because I would be so into it. This will definitely help me get the job next year but can I ask, how did your resume look? Was it multiple sheets or just one? Any key things they look for in a person? I just wanna help people make great memories. Thank you I’m advanced if you get to me.

I generally try to keep my resume down to 2 pages. There's a lot to cover on it, but I don't want to hand them a book.
Much of their hiring process is done online now, and there are lots of sites and places to get great advice on putting a resume together.

Most of the train rides I remember have been great, but only recently did I have the first woman conductor on the train (for me), so that was cool. I enjoy them but some of the jokes are starting to get old. A lot of them don’t.
