      I worked at Kings Island, at a food place selling BBQ food and I had some ask do you have BBQ Sauce. Then I had another guest ask me where they could get a stroller and the stroller booth was right behind them. I have also had guests ask me where the Haunted Mansion was before. We have a ride called Boo Blasters in Boo Hill. I seriously feel your pain.

      @@rwalkertrs1 It's all new video. I don't republish videos. I have done some of the material in this video in the past- particularly in my first 10 videos from 4 years ago. But there's also a large portion that is new and original content as well.

    I was given a magical moment with my baby niece and it still warms my heart. Her favorite ride was shut down during our fast pass time. She was in tears. I promised her that we could come back, but she was just so heartbroken. And a cast member have us 3 passes each that could be used anywhere. We went and got a treat and the ride came back up and she got to ride 3 times in a rose. She was squealing in delight and found the cast member and hugged him. It made her day truly amazing.

      At those points your answer want to say: "I'm really sorry, they are running late. Last time I checked, they were in Vancouver, playing poker." But alas, in service-jobs, you want your paycheck at the end of the day, so you can't be a smart-ass. Unless you have another job lined up, because service-jobs were you deal with customers all day, does take a toll on your sanity after a while.

    Ah man, the "do you work here" question part really makes me wonder just how many workers in grocery stores I've upset by asking-
    Of course it's super obvious with the costumes and flashy clothes in Disney, but some of the neutral-colored photographer shirts still looked like something any random dad of the park could be wearing from a distance.
    I have really bad social anxiety so my first question to someone who I think may be a worker is "do you work here" as to not be mistaken and embarrass anyone. You also never know if someone's on their way to break and may have to get someone else to help you instead, which I've seen a lot in outlet stores. By asking it also helps not come off as entitled to their service instead of right out asking "help me with this", at least that's what goes through my mind. Maybe I just overthink though, I guess it's just a way to be extra sure/polite. 😅

    I understand the bathroom and exit questions. I always have a hard time finding my way out of Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. As for the bathrooms Disney would take the gold medal if making small signs that blend in to their surrounding extremely well were an olympic event. I've had to ask where the nearest bathroom is for bathrooms that I've used in the past or knew from the map were there.

    I work at a casino in food service, in our deli and our employee dining. Some of the common questions I got while working in the deli were: where’s the bathroom/do you have a bathroom in here? After they looked right where the silverware was, the common question: “excuse me, can I get a fork/knife/spoon/napkin?” Before they revamped our menu, our burgers and chicken sandwich took the longest when made fresh to order, typically 15 mins or so. We inform them of this when they order but shortly after they order, they either come up to ask “where’s my food/what’s talking so long” or when we walk past with another order “where’s my food/what’s taking so long/how did they get their food before me, I ordered before them”. Sometimes when I got asked that, I’d often be funny when I could tell that they were in a good mood/drunk/or semi regulars, my answer would be “well you see we keep a farm up on the roof and someone had to catch, kill, and butcher the animal first.”

    It astonishes me that people will spend a couple thousand dollars on a vacation, but they won’t sit down and do less than an hour of research to make sure they know where they are going and what is there. I know most of the parks like the back of my hand and I still comb through the site to make sure I’m up to date on rides that are being refurbished, what shows are going on, and what special snacks may be around. How can people save up for a vacation at Disney, take the time to book it, spend sometimes multiple thousands, arrive, and THEN and ONLY THEN figure out it’s not the right park. It’s not that hard. Not to mention the parks at WDW are pretty self explanatory even for those who know nothing, with the exception of EPCOT. Right now I’m on Disney groups on FB and people seem to think Disney is controlling the COVID stay home orders. Yes, it’s a magical place, but reality and logic still exist!!

      Nikki Mirhosseyni There are so many FB Groups surrounding Disney that I have wittled it down to 3 that I follow. There are a couple of really nasty groups and others with too many amateurs. The question that most drives me nuts is how is the weather for a specific week they will be there! I roll my eyes when they use the caveat “for those that have been there at the time they are going”. Aarrgghh!!

      I saw one comment on a news article about Disney+ from someone that was convinced Disney created the virus to drive up subscriptions to their streaming service. Regarding the 3 o’clock parade question: I did sorta ask that question at Shanghai Disneyland. I was waiting for the parade to start (near the beginning of the parade route). It did not start. I waited a good ten minutes before I asked a cast member (via broken English, pointing to the relevant Chinese print on the guide map and pointing to my watch showing it was well past start time). Basically the cast member indicated he did not know and couldn’t offer an explanation. I shrugged (he tried and was nice about it) and waited for the parade. It started 20 minutes late. Par for the course for China but very un-Disney-like.

    I can understand people asking how to get out of the park. It’s a very simple thing... They cant remember where they came in at. My sister-in-law is someone like that. Our first trip to Disney we handed her a map so she could find everything. She forgot why she had it an threw it away then got mad at us because she couldn’t find anything. We gave her another map the next morning. She threw that one away in less than 5 minutes. After the app came out, things got much easier.

    A lot of this can be applied to my job. I work at a casino as a slot attendant. These are just some of the things I’ve encountered. Of course I never said things like this to guests.
    1. Don’t ask me if I work here if I have my uniform on, including belt, name tag, money and such.
    2. If I look like I am in a hurry with a fat wad of cash in my hand, don’t try to stop me and get in my way.
    3. Look with your eyes, the bathroom and the restaurants are in all 4 corners of our small casino and one is right behind you.
    4. Don’t ask me for a drink, I am not a cocktail waitress. And on that note, don’t think you’ll get you alcohol free, you have to play to get the drink. So technically you’re still paying it.
    5. Don’t fight with the attendants on what machines we have and where, this is our second home so we know everything.
    6. You spun you $20 all at once cuz you are on a 5c denomination. No we cannot give you back your money. Pay attention.
    7. Give me your social security number, otherwise you will not be able to get your jackpot and you will not be happy when we have to give you a slip to come back with all the documents within the year.
    8. No one under 21! Why do you think you can cut through with your 3 kids?
    9. Don’t get mad at me when you don’t have your ID or won’t give it to me to check your age and I kick you out.
    10. Don’t cry to me when all your money is gone. Please go to Gamesince and seek help.

    Worked Retail for 15 years and I've got many similar questions! Working at Staples I would help people find inkjet cartridges so I'd say, "Who makes it and model number?" One lady actually told me, "Oh Wow I don't remember. Hey, I bought it from you 6 months ago don't you remember?" "Mam I deal with 200 to 300 people a day I'm lucky to remember what I had for Breakfast!"

    Heard many of those as well and one that I kept getting asked while working in Magic Kingdom with PhotoPass had to do with the cable that ran from the castle to Tomorrowland. I told some guests that with all the sink holes in Florida the castle started leaning backwards so the cable is keeping it straight. While working in the Camera Shop at Epcot someone came in asking where Spaceship Earth was. Too bad right outside the doors there were 2 big signs that said Spaceship Earth and the ramp leading into it.

    1. The "Where to exit?" I can sort of get. I know that EPCOT, California Adventure, and Cedar Point all have at least two entrances. However, they should still remember where they came in, it'll probably be the way you come out too!
    2. I have definitely gotten pins without trading, but I never asked! I can't believe how rude and entitled some people are.
    3. I've definitely asked where the bathroom was and then realized, "DOH!", it's right in front of me. Many times. Oops.

  • @davidvincent1093

    As stupid as the bit may sound at minute marker 17 minuets is all so true. My wife used to be a supervisor at TTC (ticket and transport center) and she DID actually have someone want their money back! It was raining like crazy when they bought their tickets and then got all the way to the Magic Kingdom and came back. Their claim is that this is DISNEY and it is not supposed to rain! We want out money back!!! She sent them to the Guest Services (which also meant they had to go all the way BACK across the lake!) Now in my unit and most of the people I worked with at EPCOT and MAGIC KINGDOM had a saying that we used when we REALLY got stupid people that pissed us off. HAVE A DISNEY DAY! (it is an insider joke that we are telling you F**k you !)
    So if anyone ever says Have a DISNEY DAY you now know what it means. Also I was the candy maker on Main Street for years and you are 1000% correct that the most common question is "what time does the 3 o'clock parade start?" My standard answer was it starts by Frontier Land at 3 PM and arrives here in front of the Candy Store at 3:18 - but you always still get the question what time does it start?
    So to all the people that ask the really stupid questions HAVE A DISNEY DAY!. The laundry called and your brain is ready to be picked up

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We always said, "Have a magical day," when I was there, and that was pretty much the only version I heard. I didn't hear the, "Have a Disney day" until later on. I'd be curious as to what years you were there, as is seems to me that one tends to be more "pre internet" and the other "post internet" but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

    I know this video is on the older side, but I was watching to see if you were going to mention my own personal pet peeve and you said it; PEOPLE ASKING HOW TO EXIT. Yes I get it, sometimes the place can be so large and overwhelming you may lose your place but you have no idea how many games of 20 questions in order to get the guest to remember where they entered and how to guide them there, because telling me "HOW DO I GET OUT OF HERE??" does not help me help you get what you need. And the game of 20 questions go something like this...
    1. Did you came here in your own car and parked in the garages or parking lots? If yes, I ask what they first saw, and USUALLY they will remember and then I give them the directions
    2. Did you use the Disney buses? If yes, again, give them directions
    3. Did you stay in a good neighbor hotel like Hilton? If yes, direct them to where the good neighbor hotel buses drop
    4. Did you came via rideshare? If yes, tell them where the rideshare areas are
    5. Did you use public transportation? Again, directions
    But even if you ask all of these questions you WILL get guests that will have NO IDEA what you are talking about and just walk away...only to come back more frustrated because they forgot to take pictures of where they parked or try to remember how they entered. Like we have phones that can take photos; how hard is it to take a picture of where you were dropped off or you parked so you can use as reference at the end of your day??

    HA, when I took my FIRST trip to Disney World back in 86 (I think it was), I bought a guide book, and knew EXACTLY what I wanted to see, and what I didn't want to see (to save time). IF I had gone WITHOUT reading that book first, I would have been so confused, I admit it. :-O But anyway, I'm so glad I did because I had a very nice 4-day vacation instead of wasting time at places and rides I didn't really care about. AND BY THE WAY, it was late November, so it wasn't crowded, and Christmas decorations were already up.

    When I went to Disneyland I saw a cast member with a cool pin and I really wanted it but I didn’t have any pins so I was kinda sad but I knew how training works so I knew I wouldn’t get it. My family stopped to talk to them and I complemented the pin (and probably said I was sad I didn’t have anything to trade for it) and they gave it to me! It made me feel really happy and it’s my favorite pin to this day. Naturally you should never expect that though, just wanted to share my story 😁

    Honestly disney prices are actually not that bad when you consider every factor. Number 1 being they are the most open to aloowong outside stuff in. The renaissance fair near me has absolutely no outside food or drink whatsoever, further the food is overpriced, further more you have to buy food tickets to buy food with and only in sets so you spend even more. And lastly they do not allow any re entry so cant even keep food in your car and go eat it. After dealing with 100s of places like that the slight over chrage in a place that adds alot of extra stuff and aubaunce.

    Funny you asked someone to explain guest behavior (11:35; guests not understanding the entrance is also the exit). Just before you asked that question, I had paused the video to answer that very question to my partner.
    Some people have a TERRIBLE sense of direction. They honestly do not remember where they came in and can not retrace their steps. My aunt is a perfect case in point. Many times she got lost in a shopping mall that she went to regularly. She simply did not pay attention to where she came in and does not know how to get out (without a mall directory). And this was when she was in her 20’s and 30’s (no senior’s moments here). For someone like me, who has an excellent sense of direction, it is unfathomable to be that clueless.
    I also wonder how many of these questions are from people who are seniors/suffer from memory loss/dementia (ie: when did they move the castle, or the lady who insisted that she took the monorail to the studios)? It would explain a lot of the confusion.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can honestly say that I don't think any of them are from memory loss/ dementia. Confusion? Absolutely! But not due to age or deterioration. Not even the one lady. Over the years I've heard from several others that have had the same sort of conversation with people of all ages.
      And I understand being lost. But it's when they are looking at the entrance and saying that can't be the exit because that's how they came in.... that's when I'm stumped.

    In January of 2020, I was waiting for my wife to finish a ride, and was standing near the Jedi training attraction at the Hollywood Studios in Orlando. I stood next to a street vendor and saw that she was from Venezuela. Since she had zero customers, I asked her how she got from Venezuela to a job in Disney Orlando. She was very polite and eager to tell a little of her background. About one minute into our conversation, another cast member who was walking past us, came up to me and told me to move along and quit bothering the food cart cast member. Even though she still had no customers, I just said OK and moved 10 feet away. Then I watched the wandering cast member lecture the lady I was talking to. A few minutes later, I went up to her and apologized for bothering her and getting her in trouble. To this day, I still don't know what I (or she) did wrong.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you, and she, did absolutely nothing wrong. Power tripping lead with the wrong attitude of why they are there, assuming that she should be making money and selling things instead of talking. After rewatching this video, a thought occurred to me about the guy wanting to know where the Haunted Mansion was. It's very possible that he was expecting the Haunted Mansion in Disney world to look exactly the same as the original one in Disneyland, and that's why he "couldn't find it", and possibly also the reason why he got so upset with you. He probably thought you were messing with him at first, because he wasn't expecting that version of the attraction (At least the show building) to be so different looking. Still, it was so funny how you sent around a big chunk of the park to get there 😂

    I think I have your explanation for entrance vs. exit. Apparently it is true that EPCOT is accessible through two entrances, one for boat and foot traffic in the back of the World Showcase, the other for parking lot, bus, and monorail traffic in front of Prototype City (or whatever that section of the park is called, forgive me but I've only been to Epcot once in my entire life!). My fiancee says her family has an easier time coming in either on foot or on the waterway than they do coming in the main gate, but as the evening wears on, at some point, the front gate gets less crowded than the back gate. Unfortunately some guests are clueless enough to not realize that Disney World itself is not an amusement park in the strictest sense, but rather it's an entire amusement park complex, and those people that think there's more than one way in or out of the park probably went to Epcot first. (Except the people who asked you in Epcot, who I hate to admit may have been smart enough to do their research on that particular park only to get lost along the way.)

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Epcot with it's two entrances and exits can be understandable. Ironically I was rarely asked that at Epcot. It was usually Magic Kingdom, and sometimes Studios. I would have thought MK would be the most obvious, but apparently for many Main Street was very confusing.
