My 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring I traded on this Mirage and the current Eclipse Cross SEL Touring we still own both used/use the cell phone Mitsubishi Connect App to remote start the vehicle and the longest run time is 10 minutes then you have to restart it again. Its nice just having a remote and I like that this one also works as the FAST Smart Key for the car as well as the remote start Fob.
The Mirage with remote start shuts off once you unlock it to get in. Now my new Nissan Kicks keeps running and on the 7 inch digital gauge screen a big image tells you place foot on the brake and hit the start button and the car stays tunning and is ready to go. Unfortunately the Mirage remote start (available on top trim SE only with push button start) shuts off as soon as you unlock the car with the key fob or push the smart key button on the drivers door and you have to push the brake and press the start button once inside to restart the Mirage.

Online this is why it says most cars do it this way with many makes. Now some more premium vehicles do not shut off but your not getting that feature in a Mirage as low priced as it is. Its due to safety mostly with push button start cars. My 2010 Kia Soul ! had factory remote start and it did not shut off. You had to get in the car stick the key in the ignition turn it to on then press brake and the car stayed running. Now if the key was not in it and you pushed the brake it would shut off. Wait, so there isn't any way to get into the car while it's running? I can't think of any other remote start system that doesn't allow entry while it's running.
Its because of it being push button start and smart key as most brands do this except more expensive luxury vehicles. The Outlander Sport is the same with its Smart Fob and the Eclipse Cross with its Mitsubishi Connect phone app to start them. Its so the car cant be stolen. It has to re recognize the the fob once in the car for safety and start. My friends Buick and Toyota do this also that have push button start. Now I had a brand new 2010 Kia Soul Exclaim and it remote start did not do this but it was a key start you got in the car put the key in the ignition turned it to on then pressed the brake and went but it was not push button start.
See most Lexus, Toyota and Nissan vehicle’s do this also…. This explains it a lil fro’m their page below copied… There is no Secure Takeover for your vehicle. For select vehicles, such as certain (not all) Toyota and Lexus models, there is no Secure Takeover procedure available for those vehicles. Thus, 100% of the time that a vehicle is remote started, the engine will shut off as soon as a door is opened. This is to ensure safety.
Its an option you can get on CVT models with push button start. I had it on my 2017 Mirage G4 SE and now this 2021 Mirage SE. I love having it. Plus these cars warm up super quick compared to any other car I have owned.
In all the Mitsubishi Ive had this was by far the best remote start. Just the fact I didnt need my phone or 2 fobs was amazing.
