This recording features a rare aircheck of WMCA from 1971, with Frankie Crocker, who recently joined the station from WWRL New York. Crocker went on to become a legendary programmer at WBLS New York.
Feel free to check out some of the many other videos on the Ellis B Feaster's Radio Channel! Established in 2008!
One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.
After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.
You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.
We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here!
We also share videos about Travel & Cruising. I share tips on how I travel cheaply, so you can do it also! Find me on Facebook: / ellisairchecks

Wow! Leon Lewis with the overnight call-in show on MCA also signed off with “Moody’s Mood” (I’m in the Mood for Love, James Moody’s tenor solo) sung by King Pleasure. Didn’t know Frankie Crocker used it as well. Thanks, Ellis! Radio is the best, esp if you were in the tri-state area.

A Dan Ingram spot too! A classic air check! Frankie was so smooth! I loved him on WBLS! Also, it sounded like Ron Lundy on the coke spot too. Nice job on this find Ellis!

Wow, Excellent!!! Listened to Frankie all the time. Called instant play a lot. PL 2-9944. Dialed that number on a rotary phone, and dialed many times until my finger hurt from hitting the dial stop. ( try explaining that to somebody today ). The line was always busy and when you finally got through it rang forever until he picked up. Great memories. Thanks for the video

Do you have anything from Armed Forces Radio Network - Vietnam or Okinawa from the 60s or 70s?

@EllisFeaster That's OK. When I was stationed on Okinawa Aug74 to Sep75, we listened to Armed Forces Radio Network, which was the only English radio station back then. They played all kinds of different music but in the evenings, they only played rock n roll music.

Do you have any clips from WMCAs Long John Nobel overnight show? My father was his engineer for several years. Thank you

@@EllisFeaster that’s great! I am pretty sure that was in the timeframe my father worked with him. Long John referred to my father as “Papa Joe” and sometimes he had him on air for a couple of minutes. My father worked for WMCA for years. I met most of those “Good Guys” when I was a little boy. He was friends with Cousin Brucie too. Junior Walker from the sitcom Good Times worked there as a young engineer too right before he left to pursue full time comedy and acting. He was as funny then in person as he was on theTV! If your clip has my Father on it I will freak out. He passed in 1976 shortly after retiring from WMCA. I was 18 and sad to say that most of my memories of him are faded.Thank you for finding that and I will keep my eyes & ears open for it!

Over night on MCA was also Leon Lewis, who had so many listeners, and was so great - a call-in show. P-L -aza 9 - 1000. Remember him?
