There is much debate on this issue nowadays however when one looks in the classical sources of the Qur'an, Hadith and the sayings of the Salaf-as-saaliheen the answer becomes clear. The bodies of the Prophets are preserved and remain intact in the grave. The Prophets are indeed alive in their graves but do not know the exact nature of the life of the Prophets alayhis salām in the graves.
