The best fishing line... Period!!!! Long casting, smooth, direct contact with the lure and the fish mouth. Setting the hook perfect 9/10 times Ps: use a trippel sviwel between the fluor carbon tip and the nanofil
I used the palomar knot on six pound text nanofil and I lost a lot of lures. Finally, I used a double unit knot with 12 wraps tied to a flouracarbon leader and I haven't had any problems with it. I use this line for jig fishing for trout. The line is very sensitive and casts far. I am not sure about the durability of the line after using it on a couple different fishing adventures. I do like the line and I will continue using it. I had a blast catching trout with a marabou jig.
Hi Mike it was nice to meet you in person at the Farnborough show. Thanks for the advice on the braid boat rods. I have been experimenting with Nanofil on the beach using an FG knot and the Allbright knot. Tho Allbright tested well, the tapered leader broke before the knot, which is a first but didn't do as well with the FG knot! It seems that the FG works best with braid NOT Nanofil! I also found tho knot stronger if I cut back the tapered leader a short amount. If you can spare the time I would like your thoughts and suggestions on this subject. cheers Alan Thomas
I use a modified version of the grinner knot for braid to leader, even if its a waxy braid it always stays tight together. Might try out this nanofil it seems cheaper then braid.
So I'm guessing in the UK it's called a double grinner but the rest of the world it's called a double uni knot. Does everyone agree? I just purchased Berkeley Nanofil and have a short mono leader and tied it with a double uni knot.
I used the same knots with nanofil 6lb and 8 lbs leader, but for some reason it was getting stuck in the guides while casting. Slipbeauty knot fixed that issue.
Hi Mike, firstly loved the helpful Video, much appreciated as is your style of presentation. I have used the knots exactly as illustrated and whilst they are good for equal sized lines I find that the FG knot tied as per the simplified or so called easy method as shown by the Salt Strong guys video [the Red Shirt one..:).] much smaller and very very effective. My question to you is I'm in process of fitting new guides to my old Leslie Moncrieff reverse taper rod and have bought a Penn 8000 Surfblaster Reel however using the Guide Poisting Software the Penn Reel has a strange upsweep angle - I noticed you using a Penn Reel in the video and ask which one it is and what the spacing is on the guides, particularly the first/ stripper guide [Fuji?]. I really would appreciate you letting me know at you earliest convenience as I'm about to start this project - oh and I will definitely keep using the Nonofil 0.2mm Line for its great bite detection, low drag in the water [less weight needed to hold bottom] and exceptional casting distance - worth all of the effort in my opinion - thanks and kind regards - John
It might well be old fassioned but what about the turle knot which I use for all my knots and have never had a problem with that knot. I ties all my flies on with that knot and use it for all my sea fishing and haul any weight fish into the boat and that knot always holds good. Fair enough I don't go much below 20lb breaking due to being broken with 10lb line on salmon and sea trout.......... The knot was shown to me by an incredibly able trout fly fishing chap who took me to Eyebrook res........ I've never forgotten that knot and its much less fidly than any other knot....... If you do not know what it is it is no more than two turns to make the two loops round the main line & then tucked through those two loops whi when pulled form a figure of eight which latches onto the eye of the hook and line. It has never failed me through slipping. I don't know what the reduced breaking strength is on that knot and if someone says what it is it would be interesting.
With thin lines none of those knots work. I frequently use 4 and 6 lb test and both palomar and grinner snapped when setting the hook and sometimes in mid casting. Although i've managed to create a knot that i'm pleased with and it gave to me some pretty good results. When i'm tying a snap or a jig I always cross the line 3 times trough the eye then simply make a loop like grinner and cross the tag end between 10 to 15 times. After that moisture the loop (soaking wet) and pull very very slow.

Grinner knot: in the U.S. it’s pronounced uni knot! I just bought my first nanofil line looking forward to fishing it. Thanks for the video!
So amazing. Thank you.

What is the best knot for Nanofil to a braided leader? would you still use a back to back grinner?

I had the same problem. Going to try the knot you recommended. What weights of both lines did you use?
Can I use it on a multiplier reel for distance fishing from smooth to ruff ground with a shock leader obviously

Is good for baitcasting reel?
Eko Dany Sulistiyanto yes, but if used on a baitcaster I would use heavier line
i tie a uni and run it around the line about 8 times and it works great but i use 17 pound text because
i catfish
