wacky misadventures of the passenger is an absolute anthem. but i lost my life is probably one of my favorite opening tracks i’ve ever heard on a record
I got to meet Kory at a show when I was cross-faded. Dude talked with me for a solid 20 mins while The Obsessives played. Really cool dude for putting up with my ass.
Heard these guys for the first time when they were opening for Remo Drive. The "it only takes 3 Prince Daddy songs for you to be a fan for life" line is spot on. That show was a little more than 2 years ago and they've been in my top 5 most played bands on Spotify both years since. Was the same show I was introduced to Field Medic, who I'm also now a huge fan of.
Was hoping you'd cover them eventually but figured you're in the group that can't stand the vocals. Turns out you are truly the ultimate mate! Would love coverage of new Knuckle Puck and Movements (I know you wrote about the single but now that the album's out worth a return imo). Lot of good emo coming out soon with Niiice and Gulfer.
I was listening to Roswell Kid one night at work and Prince daddy randomly came on, it was "I forgot to take my meds today" and I was instantly hooked. Listened to it on repeat the rest of the night.
I honestly couldn't stand I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving for the first three or so times I heard it, but that fourth(?) time, I fell in love, and it's now by far my favourite album right now, and has been for about 4 months.
CTS is my favorite record of all time. It was crazy to feel that way so soon after it came out, but it's one of those rare albums that transcends "masterpiece" status. Seeing Prince Daddy in ATL was also the best show I've ever seen. Dope to see everyone's love for them :)
so glad you did a vid on the Daddy, best modern punk band imo i found out about them through Broken World Media too via The World is.. and when i told Kory that i just remember him looking kinda disappointed hahah
Beyond happy you brought up the cult point. My first introduction to P Daddy was in March 2019, I bought tickets to see Mom Jeans in Hartford CT, and alongside them on the bill was Mover Shaker and Prince Daddy and the Hyena. I was familiar with Mover Shaker, but had decided to not look into P Daddy at all so that my first experience with them could be live. Right before their set, Eric from MJ came out and shushed everyone, then said "I just wanna make sure we all know, Prince Daddy and The Hyena is a cult and it's impossible to just be a fan, only a cult member. Now go fuckin wild". Since that night, my life has been devoted to the CTS cult
I read an article that describes them as "sparkle punk". My ex found them a few years ago but I only started listening last October. A year later and I still love them. Can't wait for another tour.
my first listen to this record gave me goosebumps the entire time. it still does sometimes to this day. i love this band with all my heart and i’m so happy you made a pdaddy video
I’m super glad to see these guys getting this type of retrospective! They’re from my hometown of Albany so I remember them starting to get spread around like a plague. The release of the video for “I forgot to take my meds” was the transformative moment from me so I went and saw them at the Ice House (Kory’s house), then Jack’s Place, then in a filthy St. Rose basement covering Black Parade until the cops shut the show down. They are by far the nicest guys I’ve gotten to talk to pre and post-show and the headliners for the greatest local live shows I’ve been too. Really sucks to hear about Broken World screwing them over. I always wanted to get on that label because of Prince Daddy, but I guess it’s a good thing we never did haha
Mate, all I wanna say is that you make me fall in love with music I have missed (due to my age I guess), idk you just sound so convinient, love it when someone tells stories with passion! Thank you for that!
I got a vinyl of best buds by mom Jean and out of it popped a sticker for this band. Have not gotten around to checking them out but this is a strong reccomend and some high praise
Oh man they literally cancelled the tour on THE DAY of my show :'( I was literally about to head into boston but my gf couldnt get the tickets to load... and then we saw the post
YEEEEAAAASSAS!!! im so happy you covered them, they've been my favourite band for about a year now and everytime one of their songs comes on, it just makes my day
I highly regret not going to watch them live back in 2018 at the Chicago show with remo drive I absolutely love this band so much. I just remember seeing their album art and being like "this looks sick i gotta listen"
first time I ever heard prince daddy: sophomore year italian class 6th period. I was high as hell and completely ready to zone out and not pay any attention. I stumbled across I lost my life. I remember clearly losing vision and having an almost out of body experience. I proceeded to listen to listen to the entire cosmic thrill seekers album start to finish and was changed forever. prince daddy for life❤️
Nate, you really are the man. I loved pdaddy since I first heard them on the split with mom jeans. Just got my green hoodie this year and I couldn’t be happier. This band quickly became one of my absolute favorites.
Cosmic has been around long enough to join the ranks of snowing’s fyeb and hotelier’s home as one of the top punk/emo albums of all time. So good. Great video thanks mate
Theyre super rad dudes. Booked a show for them pre-thrill seekers in my city. Got to smoke a few bowls after the show in my backyard and chat music with them all.. great memory :)
I know I’m late and I don’t really leave comments either But I’m so so glad you covered them I love them to the world and back Everything about their music and attitude. They help me through a lot of hard times just screaming at the top of my lungs to one of their songs. I don’t normally cry I started crying lol I love them so much I hope they keep getting a larger and larger following You either don’t like them or you love the vocals of prince daddy the vocals make it. And you just said that as I was writing it. Anyways thanks for covering them I love them so much
every time I hear Prince Daddy & The Hyena, my mind goes back to Sophomore year when I found them and Hotelier. The Hotelier knows how to make amazing songs with a purpose, Hyena just makes music for the hell of it and it sounds just as good for a totally different reason.
i agree with all ur sentiments for pdaddy that's basically how i feel about them lolol. i like "raspy weed vocals" a lot, i used to say crunchy but urs lines up way harder, great video :D
Man 2 years ago a cashier at Barnes and Noble told me about these guys when he saw me purchasing two My Chem albums, a Paramore album, and an old Fall Out Boy album. He said if I liked pop punk, I would really enjoy them. I think he recommended Dance Gavin Dance as well. I feel bad for not checking Prince Daddy out until last year.
@@NateTheMateForever I used to listen to these guys when i had a bad day. Pretty generic thing to say but have alot tp thank these guys helps keep things off my mind. Especially this day and age.
Have you heard of Origami Angel? Their Somewhere City album changed my life. It’s new, interesting, very emotionally charged, tells an amazing story, and all that shit. But most of all, it’s hopeful. Very hopeful. It’s literally the light at the end of a dark tunnel in my life. It’s emo music with a positively driven message which is such a breath of fucking air. It still retains that grunge-y energetic emo aesthetic we all love but it’s just positive. It’s so fucking awesome. Their songs are incredibly catchy and mostly easy to digest. The Title Track is the title track from Somewhere City, and it’s one of the most unique songs in the entire emo genre as we know it. Their drummer is an absolute slayer on this song. This is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. They’re still generally small so if you haven’t heard them give them a listen. Or make a video on how fucking awesome their music is ;)
Hey where did you get that silly clip of Eric from mom jeans for the hoodie cult following comment? That was my first time seeing mom jeans and pdaddy I even saw my buddy who I went with in that clip! I'd love to be able to watch some of that show and relive it :)
You Nate man I know you aren’t going to see this but you definitely should check out pup if you’ve never listen to them , the dream is over is one of my top albums
Best song off Cosmic Thrill Seekers?
Twitter: @camerahat
wacky misadventures of the passenger is an absolute anthem. but i lost my life is probably one of my favorite opening tracks i’ve ever heard on a record
Ursula always hits hard
Patrick Gallaugher TRUE
wacky misadventures was the song i walked into my first day of hs last year!!!!
Cosmic thrill seeking forever!
thrashville 1/3 from volume 420, now thats what i call music, was my most favorite song and thats how i got into prince daddy
Me too, that split album with mom jeans is the shit
Conor Obbberst that’s thrashville 2/3, also fire
@@julianc667 both of them are fire

That's the first emo song I ever listened to two years ago, been hooked on it all ever since :)
Origami Angel next?? Maybe some equipment? Some Guitar fight from fooly cooly? Worst Party Ever? Macseal? Carly Cosgrove?
We love worst party ever
I got to meet Kory at a show when I was cross-faded. Dude talked with me for a solid 20 mins while The Obsessives played. Really cool dude for putting up with my ass.

i saw this lineup!!! in brooklyn, like around 2017! what a fantastic show. i had heard them before but that set made me a certified fan.
could you do worst party ever? or midwest pen pals / merchant ships.

there are people that dont like the vocals? like i get it but also thats kinda what got me into them damn
They are hype af and sound SO SO SO Much better with Headphones. I Thought You Didn't Like Leaving is easily my favorite album.
I was listening to Roswell Kid one night at work and Prince daddy randomly came on, it was "I forgot to take my meds today" and I was instantly hooked. Listened to it on repeat the rest of the night.
Pdaddy ❤️ the Albany DIY kids who made it
The prototype of the ultimate life form is so underrated
omg i listened to that on my way home from my non-emo music job haha
Can’t wait until it’s cold enough to wear the iconic green hoodie
Honestly same, I wore mine so much last year, it’s almost torn up and it has cig burns all over it
Thrashville 2/3 blew my mind away first time I heard it.
I honestly couldn't stand I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving for the first three or so times I heard it, but that fourth(?) time, I fell in love, and it's now by far my favourite album right now, and has been for about 4 months.
Have you talked about Free Throw yet? The three things you listed for what makes a band work describes them as well.
With this new album out, I really wish I could hear you talk about it in this video. Because wow
Perspective, a lovely hand to hold is so good. My band has played with them a lot. I saw their name on that list of bands
Glad someone else saw that and gave them some love
