    What a gorgeous bike. A couple months ago, I flirted with the idea of getting a motorcycle license, enrolled in the MSF and passed without ever having sat on a motorcycle before. Came to find out my coworker's got one of these in his garage, less than 10,000 miles on it, with the original Candy Bourgogne Red paint on it. We've worked out an agreement, and within a couple more short months I'll be a proud owner of one of these. Can't wait!

    I had a red 87’. Loved it but I kept dragging the pipes lifting the rear wheel. Such a fun bike

    That is one badass MuscleCruiser, if there is such a word. Lol...That Candy Blue is the most gorgeous shade of blue that I have ever seen! John was a nice guy, that had an amazing collection, meticulous with his bikes. Love those rims!

    My dad had a v65 Magna and a v45 Magna too. Think he liked them better than any bike he ever had, maybe tied with his '74 CB750. But I've always seen pictures of these Super Magnas and thought they looked awesome.

    Ah the baby v max. Love the variety of bikes you feature. For a v4 I'm surprised it doesn't sound more exotic.

      I thought it would sound better like the aprilia v4, still an excellent machine

    I got one of these as my first working motorcycle, it had been sitting and the owner wanted it gone so I picked it up for 600 bucks. Almost all original except for a recovered seat and custom paint. It had some issues but I did the work on it myself and I now have a working bike!

    That honda looks awesome. Love those magnas. $3000 work order is a little steep imo, but it sure is a badass looker.

      It's gotta be costly because they only made the bike one year... nearly impossible to get all the parts.

    • @thermos750
      @thermos750 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fuel systems on the magnas are unique, pain in the ass to work on. I assumer there is more man hours on this bike then parts. You are getting a like new bike if all that work has been done on it. Amazing shape, never seen one like that.

    Fun-Fact: The 700cc Japanese bikes were birthed by America's tariffs on all Jap 750cc bikes, (which were in direct competition our 750cc Harley Davidson's), so Japanese manufacturers did a very slick thing... (to get AROUND the tariffs) they mass-produced 700cc bikes, added bigger carbs, changed gearing, etc. and as a result, the 700cc Japs blew the freaking doors off America's Harley Sporters. -The tariffs worked for Harley sales for a while but in the end... Japs won this war... and Americans got some cool/two-year-only, light-weight monster classics.

    • @markdowney4882
      @markdowney4882 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah it was a tariff. For some reason my insurance agent had told me they did it to stay under the insurance cost hike that comes with 700+. Tariff makes more sense. Yah mine was a screamer. In those days I was young and crazy and would regularly have the speedo pegged which I would say is easily 130 mph maybe even more. I had to lay down on the tank and put my feet on the passenger pegs. 😂

If I go past Bush highway 5 miles. I'm f****** at the mercy of traffic and turns on the highway. And yeah I don't care if it's 12:00 noon daylight

    That’s exact bike I had. Picked up a brand new 87 in the summer of 1988 for $3100 out the door. List price was $4500. This bike was fast, smooth and beautiful. Nothing else has this look including later Magnas. I was told by my insurance agent that Japanese bike makers reduced the engines to 699 to counteract insurance price hikes on bikes over 700 cc. I put 20,000 miles on mine before selling it. Rode it cross country, rain, snow or shine 😸😸😸

      Actually Harley lobbied the government and the government listened and created an over-700cc tariff on imported motorcycles because Harley couldn’t compete with the quality coming from Japan

    Wow, that's a classic, would be great to have the plastic cover by the throttle and brake all new or painted black. It would seem like it would be easy to get those, they were standard for many years. Might find NOS some where online. Great you are saving these bikes and showing them off. You do well in the videos, the serious rider and talker!

    If you don't like the drum brake on the bike just remember that it doesn't have a master cylinder that needs to be rebuilt ever.

      Funny thing is the rear drum brake on that bike works better then the front one x)
      also with such a giant lever you can lock it up very easily : X (dont ask me how I know )

    I owned one identical to this. I wish that I'd never sold it. It had 27,000 miles on it but I took great care of it. I did a custom paint job (metallic grey), biggest dunlop tire I could fit on the back, k&n filter, custom seat, and few other things that really made it stand out even more. I got offers on it every time I took it out. Sold it in 2009 for $1,750.00. Freaking divorce 🤬. Women 🙄. Not all, just in case a Karen reads this 😂. Anyway, awesome bike!
