Fun Fact Pompsie: this hostel was used as the filming location for The Best Little Chapel in The Hangover in 2009. The chapel was a facade used for the movie and this is where the guys flee in the stolen cop car. Look it up, very cool.

About ten years ago I stayed at a hostel on Fremont street. About twenty-five dollars. They had an awesome Champagne Las Vegas Boulevard “VIP” tour with a limo. The champagne flowed and the smoke was heavy. We lost a couple Aussies somewhere along the way. Great experience. For the single traveler who is gregarious, hostels may be a better choice than a hotel.

Back in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, most people that came to Vegas for a cheap, fun vacation drove there. The north Strip, south Strip and Fremont East had scores of cool, cheap motor lodges that were actually decent places to stay. Once Vegas became commercialized and there was the mega-resort building boom, these motels went downhill, fast. Most are gone. Those that remain either became hostels (like the one you are in) or seedy places that are more appropriate for urban explorers than vacationers.

I spent 3 months volunteering here helping run reception, before when it was Hostel Cat. Some very very good memories. I saw more sunrises then sunsets, fun late nights making friends with people from around the world. It was almost like I was travelling on my own, the travelers would come to me. Barely scraping by on 7/11 food and 99cent store basics. Blew my mind, the 99cent stores carry produce. Back then, you could get a night in a 10 bed for $24. Really neat you were able to share this way of travel with 80,000+ people. I will probably be a hostel cat to the grave, I love the vibes.

Hostel's are big in Europe. My son and his friend went all around Germany staying in hostels in their early 20's. It was fun for them, and very cheap (some were $10 a night) as they didn't really have an itinerary of what cities they wanted to go to. Hostels are good for throw your bag down, sleep, get up and leave. They remind me of the camp houses when I went to camp as a little girl. At least you were well protected by a very highly trained body guard (Jacob 😀) $67.00 seemed a little high when you said it, but I guess that's Vegas for ya.

I've always thought that they could redevelop that area into an "old town/throwback/old days" part of town with those little motels re-branded as classic names from Vegas' past. Kind of like how "The Mint" did.

Good video. I don't think I would like to be awoken by strangers in the middle of the night. You three are so brave staying there.

I give you credit Pompsie. Not all of us can stay at the Encore and have VIP privileges at the Beach Club. I gotta try this.

Seemed like a much better experience than anticipated. Not everyone is into the big resort scene and that's ok too.

I stayed at Sin City hostel back in October ‘21. It was clean and safe. The bus system was down so I had to walk 8 blocks to catch it at the Strat. Besides that, it was close to restaurants and the Fremont. If your broke and wanna spend money on other things it works !! They have good coffee and good breakfast also.

I got married at that Little White Chapel in 2009. There was a Boston Pizza restaurant that had good cheap food back then. Did you notice if it was still in that area?

Pompsie! (IMO) The world needs more people like you and Greta in it… My wife and I are heading back over to Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend. If you guys happen to be there walking on “The Strip”, we’ll be sure stop over and say hi… Wishing you all the best, dude.

Am I the only one wondering if there was a bed bug check before jumping in those bunk beds?. I have heard that was a problem with Hostels ------- I know some of the most expensive rooms in Vegas have also been plagued with the pesky little vampires also
