Can anyone give some input about this guitar VS a Gibson Les Paul? How's the neck and playing feel? Torn between this and a les paul studio.. I have a Epiphone LP standard with gibson 490T in the bridge at the moment but would like to get another guitar
I like how this guy plays -- I hate when people review a "metal" guitar and they try to shred on it and they fail miserably...This playing demonstration is perfect -- nice melodic chord progressions and down picking a-la Metallica / Het style. The guitar -- meh. It's a set neck MIJ ESP eclipse with JH pickups and Sperzel tuners priced at almost 5 grand. That's ridiculous...Just because it has JH's name on it, and he probably gets a HUGE cut...Yeah... I like the inlays and the designs, but a standard Snow White set neck MIJ ESP Eclipse can be had for around 1200 brand new if you know where to look. This guitar is 4000 dollars too much! That's a LOT to pay for some inlays and two pickups... My suggestion is if you like this, buy a Snow White ESP MIJ Eclipse, replace the stock Gotoh tuners with Sperzels, replace the stock EMG 81/60 with JH's pickups, and save yourself a shit ton of money. If you want the Iron Cross graphics, get a sticker or have it painted on there -- find a local tattoo artist to do it, I'm sure they'll price it for less than $250. The JH pickups can be had for around $150, Sperzel tuners around $75. Maybe if this were a neck-thru Eclipse, I would think a little differently about it -- but it still would not be worth 4000 dollars more...
This *is* the ESP version brozef. Look at the title of the video. I wouldn't waste money on LTDs, especially when you can get the E2's for just a little bit more.
I thought it waa a $1000? At least I watched a James video selling it and the price at the end was a 1000.. I loved the sound of the low e but when he played around roughly 10th 12th fret area I wasnt quite sure about that sound. For me personally. I kept thinking is it slightly out of tune? Something's not quite right there. But then again I.m always getting picked on for being so fussy with the sound.
Nope. The one on the top doesnt work. You can wire it to work, as it is a real switch, but james uses the lower switch, thats why its there :) o hope i could make it clear for you hahah
Because the original ESP toggle switch is the one on the upper body but James specifically requested to have it moved near the knobs, just like it's placed on his old explorers and even the snakebyte. Fun fact, the original toggle switch does not work at all because it's not wired.

This is late but it looks like this guitar is going straight into an engl. Engl amps can make cow shit sound good. But this guitar does sound awesome through a high gain amp.

@陆一少 Fair point. I didn't know that it was an ESP Custom, I thought it was basically an E2 but with the cross on it and the stripe.
